I believe the numbers are in line with modern war realities and the tactics Hamas uses

70,000 in 700 days, that's about 100 a day in the middle of major war and munitions dropping. That's being extra careful

Hamas did 1,200 in 1 day with couple hundred men and medieval weapons, that's the difference between genocide and collateral damage
