Lagos Government Tribalism Reacts To Peter Obi's Visit To Trade Fair Complex
Cry me a river! Peter Obi himself did it in Anambra. Was that tribalism too?

LASG approved the buildings before construction. No Igbo would dare build there without approval from LASG.
Tinubu came to power, wham, destruction of the livelihood of the Igbos in Lagos became Lagos state official policy.
Then, what next? Move em mass back to your zone.

Igbos should emulate northern folks and reduce construction. A word is enough for the wise

This reaction even got to show that you had negativity in mind before carrying out that demolition. The thing is, non lagosians are living like slaves in Lagos. The high accomodation cost alone is proof. The earlier we know this, the better for us. Even some yorubas that do not have houses in Lagos are living like slaves

Federal government should open the port in the East and see how Lagos state will be a shadow of itself
Landlocked region. Port to import sub standard products right?
Tell your billionaires people to do it now.
We have ports in PH, Calabar, Delta. They are closer to you.
Give us another excuse.

A semi-illiterate person does not understand that any citizen of Nigeria is entitled to settle, vote and be voted for, in any location in Nigeria where the citizen is settled.
Make una kwontinue with destroying Lagos economy.

destroying the livelihood of Northerners in Lagos shall follow by the time no more houses of Igbos are left to demolish.

Wich northerners or southerners will like to give Tinubu a second chance in 2027 to continue with this destriction and imposition of harsh economic policies upon Nigerians?
We will rather chose another Fulani than Tinubu in 2027.
Well too bad your votes are insignificant, despite losing in all the eastern states, Tinubu still became the president of the Republic without u all, so u can continue as usual and vote your master Fulanis aka Abubakar Atiku in 2027.

I think the main issue here isn’t really the buildings themselves, but the paperwork behind them. If approvals had been obtained from the Lagos State Government as required by law, the demolitions wouldn’t have happened.

That said, government also has a responsibility to act earlier. Too often, enforcement comes after people have invested millions, which makes it feel unfair and harsh. Stronger monitoring and timely intervention could prevent these painful situations.

At the end of the day, we need a system where rules are respected and enforcement is proactive, not reactive. That way, both the law and people’s livelihoods are protected.
Bro, your last statement is what is needed in this country

Come to think of it as a citizen do you think i will carry out a project worth a 100million without seeking the right documents from the government

But the way things are done in this country where all the powers belong to the government, they can wake up one day and say a policy has changed and so all earlier agreements are null and void

However, some nigerians are somehow sha, we no dey hear word

O boy i jusk weak seeing the demolitions, like you said the government should have been proactive

Obi will will just keep wasting youths efforts if he continues like this! Ajeh

He should employ someone to advise him on things like this before he comment or take any step if he's too emotional or lazy to think.

For God's sake.. you are contesting to be no one person of the country now Anambra governor .

* it's's compulsory you visit or be the first to comment on things like this
* Don't be too quick to condemn, you can sympathize with victims and promise to investigate and get back to them
* Don't rely on information from victims... find out what really happened.
* Criticize and speak like a national leader not as a state governor you used to be
These people already know your weakness and using it against you.

Remember you need at least 25 percent of 2/3 states to become president.

You don't need to reply we all know the truth.
That was how he came running to Lagos the other time when his brother claimed his building was demolished, we later got to know it wasn't even the his building but a building he was trying to achieve from the rightful owner.

He runs to Lagos each time and runs his mouth to please his minions who he know do not have the brain to think for themselves.

Despite this clarification and the facts available his headless minions will still come out to praise him and talk from their anus,
If lagos state gave them time to regularise their approval and they didn't respond them I cannot blame Lasg.

They owners if in doubt should have sought clarification on the approvals needed or atleast go to court rather than just ignore.

You didnt seal the building, you just [b]went straight and demolished all of it huh The right thing to have done was seal off the projects then invite the principals but no, you went straight to demolishing. Nice nice!!!
Guy, why are you people horrendously prejudiced beyond redemption? The article, you clearly did not read as a prejudiced person who has already decided who the guilty Party is, made it clear this is not a case of Lagos "went straight and demolished all of it" as you claim.

This constant and belligerent face-off against the Yorubas you are always seeking from time immemorial, stemming from how you guys have never stopped seeking proxy wins against Yorubas because of your civil war loss you blame us for, will never end well for you.

We need nothing from you but you need us and our SW goods and services markets, with the wealthiest purchasing power in Nigeria , for everything to include the sustenance of your families back in the SE.

Lie and gaslight all you want. The situation, because you people can never be reasonable and moderate, will only degenerate into a cold war of protectionism of Yorubas against Igbos and vice versa in our respective regions.

Who wins that battle? I am sure even a smart 8 year old, privy to relevent info and facts, can answer that question in a second.

Keep allowing your self-serving and divisive elements (like Obi, Kanu, Abaribe etal) lead you up the garden path. We will see how things pan out.

Here are the facts of the matter: The owners of the building have no approval. They got ample time to regularise their papers when the state government declared last year a general amnesty, which was extended several times. The owners shunned the offer.

When Physical Planning officials visited the complex, the gates were locked against them; they were beaten up. The police rescued them. When the government called the owners for talks, they said they would not come; they did not come.

The lagos state government has not powers to take over the land because the land belongs to the FG. But you must obtain a building permit from Lagos State government before building.
As governor of Anambra , your Girigori revoked an allocation of land granted to the FG to build a federal institution.

Go and verify this .

Do you remember when Jakande estate in Lekki was demolished?
This similar noise came out only for us to discover that the state had given them notice about 10years prior to the demolishing, they had taken the state to court and the state had won on several occasions before that demolition.
But you will notice that Obi was silent about that because Jakande estate in Lekki is not Ibo dominated area.
He is only there today because of his spare part dealer brothers. When the other market where the Hausas sell cattle, the abattoir was shut down and demolished did anyone hear Obis voice?

Obi is just a tribal bigot.

Federal government should open the port in the East and see how Lagos state will be a shadow of itself
grin indeed, we have been hearing this stale propaganda about Lagos being the shadow of itself if some certain tribe leaves like they met Lagos in a desolate place before their arrival…..nwokem, Lagos as always been a trade centre even before the migration of your ancestors undecided

You all claim it’s because of the seaport and airport you all migrated to Lagos while we all know that’s false because there are functional seaport in port harcourt and also an airport. And besides are all the Ibos who migrated to Lagos importer?

The fact remains that Lagos is a commercial hub which is blessed with a good geographical location and also the people of the state are good and progressive people with much better purchasing power to buy whatever you sell. They’re industries which provide jobs and opportunities for the people and thereby increasing their purchasing power.

Most of your customers are Yorubas and other ethnic groups in the country who also engage in business while most of you ibos are petty traders. Why not relocate back home and let’s see who will buy most of your wares undecided you all allude to yourself this delusion that without you Lagos will not function whereas you need Lagos more it needs you. Below are the major companies that pay taxes to the govt and not your so called taxes that are majorly collected by the local govt and not state so you are so inconsequential in the scheme of things undecided

I agree with u to an extent but I don't agree Obi is a bigot. Many of these igbos call Peter to intervene and he has to atleast show concern and assistance.

If the hausa community calls him he will also come to their aid.

Peter Obi has gone round Nigeria helping people facing difficulties and challenges not just the south east. Very few politicians have done this.

I thought they Said that the buildings were on water ways and canals. So, After PO came and people with video evidence that it is never on the water ways they are now coming up with this one.
But come to think of this: Is Tradefare under the state government? Is it not the federal government property? Why would they now seek another approval from the State if they've already gotten from the Trade Fare Complex Management which is legally empowered by the FG to give such approvals on anything concerning the Tradefare? Even, if the State feel that they should have a stake, why didn't they just seal off those buildings and then Sue the Tradefare complex management based on the powers of who gets what and in what percentage? Is this reason enough to pull down people's investments like that and we still be expecting foreign investors to come.
you lot seem to have a big problem with comprehension even after the section of the law regarding land use and approval was cited….for your information all land belongs to state govt and it was clearly stated that even on federal allocated land, approval must be given by the state govt before and construction outside the initial approved plan given.

You lot in your desperation to buy property in Lagos so you can come online to chest beat about how you have bought all the land in Lagos which is a pure fallacy won’t do your diligence check before purchase or think you can buy your way out with money which is what most of you do and then when the govt come, you start to play the Victim. Same demolition have been carried out in anambala but you lot have no problem with that but Lagos undecided

Why can't the certain group do the rightful thing which is a strong legal basis to sue the government and claim damages? NO, they won't. They will all cry foul play like you and the man called Obi who feel becoming the president of a Nation must be driven by tribal sentiments and display of ignorance. Always going about to stir up emotions of others on wrong reasonings whereas he has done worse too and is not any better.

The solution to Nigeria's problem is beyond Obi or any of these recycled politicians before you come for me thinking I am in support of APC.
undecided honestly I have always said it that this people lack emotional intelligence. Even the bitter obi is not a wise man. This visit as only gone to prove he is a tribal bigot trying to sway the emotions of his tribemen. Some weeks ago, Alaba rago a market dominated by Hausas was demolished, we didn’t see him go there to sympathise with them, also some weeks ago houses in owonronshoki a Lagos suburb dominated largely by Yorubas was demolished, we didn’t see him there only to turn up for his brothers in trade fair, what does that tell you? This is someone that won Lagos vote in the last election due to the votes of the larger Yoruba Christian community and other minority group in Lagos…..2027 will be very interesting, i know so many Yorubas who voted for him and are ready to correct the mistake come 2027 undecided
