Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has raised the monthly salary of LAUTECH security guards from ₦18,800 to ₦80,000.

While this is commendable, this is called playing to the gallery. All politicians do this to win people's hearts.

That's because the governor knows how much every level in civil service of his state earns. He didn't have to wait for someone to speak up before it's increased. One thing is to promise and another thing is to implement it.

It really pays to speak out when you are in need. "Ask, and it shall be given unto you. Seek and ye shall find"

All wages should be at least minimum wage and able to bear tax and pension deductions

That lecturer, professor, MD or whatever he is in a black suit is a fool and I pray his children suffer the same way these security men suffered.

I won't be surprised if one of the management staff has affiliation with the recruitment company.

You said you give the company 27k and it's okay that the company removes 9k from it monthly? No remorse, no sense of pity. Very demonic people

#18K/month salary with what I am sure, is a wife who is a stay-at-home mother.

Breeding poverty

That aside, I can bet with Tinubu's left testicle that the man in black owns that security outsourcing company and is the one pocketing the #9k from their salary.

If not for the fear of retribution from the governor, I am sure that the security man would collect a query because it will be said that he exposed his medical director to ridicule.

18k and you want this man to risk his life for whom or what? If you pay me 18k as a security guard, I'd be the first to point out your location when the night owls arrive.

That is how security companies works, your money goes to them directly and they paid you what they like.l work with one in Ilorin back then 2003 they collected 12k from the source and gave 6k every month and after three months I quit.

Am sure you didn't watch the video.... Even the governor shocked when he heard the amount. If he was aware, he won't be. Also, its in public space already, it will not speak well for him to end that event without address it before its mentioned on one of the news platform.
Thats the challenge with outsourcing. The outsourcing company takes a certain cut over each head that they deploy to the org.... the matter and am not ready for long typing... just know it's not about play to gallery. Am happy the guy spoke out and he admitted that they are not full staff but then, they also citizens and times are hard for them.

All this lamentations is not necessary. The story says there money was raised from 18,800 to 80,000 an not that they will still remain been paid 18,800.
You people should start making sensible comment

Good gesture from His Excellency. However, where is the labour laws protecting these people from exploitative employers.

How can you deduct more than 30 percent of his megre wages of 27,000 under the guise of outsourcing?

Also, why's the senate not debating this issue of breeding from extremely poor households. It will consume the nation very soon. Same children are recruited into militancy, kidnapping etc. they are already at the lowest, it can be lower again for them.

Corruption will kill us in this country?

How much does the MD collect as budget annually for security provision? I'm sure it's more than 27k
How much does he pay the security company? 27k
How much does the security company pay its personnel? 18k

Tell me who can survive on 18k per month in this country. Life is not balanced but then somethings are not just due to life on its own, rather the doings and undoings of human beings to themselves.

In the end death will level all of us...

Of course they come to work daily and nightly too. They get added bonus when they greet you and entrance and departure with that look on their faces.

They also tax students, men that frequent Campuses for you know what.

I once went to see my son at a LASU some three years ago and had to wait at the Gate for him to come see me, you need to see the brazen manners these guys waylay and tax students. #200 here, #500 there. I saw it all but I don't blame them, how can anyone survive on #18k per month in this country?

Surviving on that is a living miracle.

Usually, the Security is Outsourced to the wife of Top Officials. In the School Books, you will find that each personnel cost 47k monthly by the time they remove their cuts and all that, the Personnel will be left with only 18k. That's how they run this thing.

I'm thr Banks it is the same thing. Cleaners/Security costs the Bank at least 45k per month but they get paid below 30k.

They were recruited by company and attached to where they are working, so government pay the company, they remove their and pay them their own share...

So the governor now absorbed them and put them on oyo minimum wage
