The report contains lies. No sound petroleum engineer will earn 400k per month. Too low. And you could not have been working for many years in a company that is just coming up.
You should know that before the refinery became operative, they have been building up for some years.
Re: Why Dangote Sacked Refinery Staff - FIJ by frog12: 11:22pm On Oct 02, 2025
The man should come clean. I dey suspect the same.
If na true, na big betrayal and a big security risk.

Don't mind the Ignoramuses.. their crowd mentality won't allow them use their God-given brain to think.

Indians are gradually taking over the petrochemical sector in Nigeria and are kicking Nigerians out of the sector.. it started with sale of Eleme Petrochemicals to Indorama, since then, they have been taking miles. I won't be surprised if it is later revealed that Indians have high stake in the Dangote refinery.
The implication of the inaction of the Nigerian Government is that foreigners will be ones making critical decisions on Nigeria's key economic sector (what will never happen in India or China).
Nigerian companies that rely on raw materials sourced from petrochemicals will now be at the mercy of Indians before they can get locally sourced petrochemical raw materials in Nigeria. Just imagine the disgrace..

It's a pity we have people without knowledge at the helm of affairs.

Go saudi. They pay too much.

TheBizGenius:
Is it that everyone here is blind and only @kanixt get eyes ni?

1. The report says the staff has been complaining about the salary for Years. Abeg, when dangote refinery start?!

2. The staff complained about taxes. Is it dangote that chops the taxes ni?

3. And the disparity between salaries of Nigerian engineers and expatriates? You are paid N500k/month and the white guys are paid $26k (N39million/month)? And you do the same job with the same standards?

Who here on nairaland would pay N39million for a job when he can get another equally competent person for N500k?

Now, imagine you are paying that difference, N38.5m, every month for the rest of your business life. Just because the person na oyinbo.

And this make sense to you guys? How?

Allow ignoramuses to continue supporting evil. They know not what theyre doing

This is what I’ve been saying cos my own sibling works at the refinery. The way Dangote has controlled the media narrative on this issue is so crazy. Plus it was all the Nigerian workers that was sacked not 800. Infact my sibling didn’t join the union but was also sacked.

Yeah it’s true on the PPE, my sibling was the same one that bought her safety boot 😂 the company doesn’t provide one for them. I know the way Nigeria is they’ll not want to talk cos they’ll hope to be recalled back but Dangote refinery isn’t really an exactly fantastic place to work.

The memo said “All staff” mehn.. capitalism is a dangerous thing

It may not be propaganda. Many of those pengassan excos earn over 5000 usd per month in their respective companies
Gbogboski:
This is pure propaganda by NUPENG and PENGASON to paint dangote black .
Even the president of Nigeria don't earn 26000 dollars per month

Which time refinery start massive operation?
Have you watched that video where Dangote praised the Nigerian Engineers calling them better than the Indian Engineers !!!!!..

Common sense should also tell you alots don't add up in it's entirety of the whole drama acting.

I took time in one of my threads to discuss how dangote's devious plan to avoid his staff joining union is for bad but some people thought I said things out of hate.

It's simple, Nigerian capitalists are very wicked!

Have you seen anybody working in any dangote's company having enough savings to build a house or really living large like other staff working in international corporations like MTN, IOCs ?

their CEOs are not even half as much wealthy as dangote

He simply thrives on slave labor. And he's not alone in this many small and medium scale businesses are like that too
Check out majority of Nigerian owned companies they treat their employees poorly. The banks are inclusive. Dangote issue became a national and labour issue because it's a refinery. There has been so many interests against the company. Have you heard this type of interest before now concerning other Dangote companies? It's all about oil interest. Can you see why our refineries and power facilities are not working? The man Dangote must be tired and regrating.

The engineer claimed that expatriate workers, some with little experience, were treated better than Nigerian staff. “We are the ones who train them when they arrive, but after a while they are made our bosses,” he said.

But I actually have a friend who started working with the company (Dangote Refinery) since 2020 when the refinery was still under construction. Then he told me his salary was about 150k. He was even among the team that went to India for training then. But I lost his contact, would've inquired more about their working condition and pay

I laugh when Nigerians make themselves gullible many a times.

This same Dangote that went to Court trying to compel the Court and Nigerian government to stop otherwise from importing that which he refines and make them but from him !!!!!

This same Dangote who claims that the imported fuel is bad for Nigerian cars......this same fuel that he has been using for his cars before his refinery came into existence and operation!!!!!

The situation, according to the engineer, escalated after the circulation of reports that while Nigerian workers received modest increases, Indian expatriates’ salaries were doubled from $13,000 to $26,000 per month.

Indians receiving 26,000 USD per month at Dangote Refinerieshuh

BIG LIE!
Of course urs sensational...maybe per annum. That's still far more than what the Nigerians earn and should be corrected. Also, there shd be rehulaziry rs to fzill

Was Dangote refinery built in one year? Which year did work at the Dangote refinery start or are you only focusing on when they started producing petroleum?

He was sha asking me if I have put him my quit notice so I won't have a choice but to go with them. I told him yes. Once I found out the job was in Benue with no relocation allowance I dulled them and went back to my job. The HR was now calling me to curse me that I held up their spot. Awon oloshi user company. Last last all the candidates that took up the offer regreted it later. Even Dangote staffs there were whispering to me on the day of the interview that the job is a useless job oooo that I should better look at other options. Dangote na just Slave master. Nothing else. Nigerians are gullible illiterates.

Dangote is playing a game that will hurt every Nigerian but poverty and naivety makes some regard him as their saviour.

How can you delegate your people for Indians? Pay them peanuts despite the unhealthy working condition in the refinery.

If you think the best way to run a refinery is by deviating from internationally accredited standards, I am afraid you are dead wrong. Pun intended.

They should resign and go to where they can find international standard na, it's not by force for them to work in dangote refinery.
Dangote should only be a stepping stone y.to your dream job/establishment. The man can choose to run his company the way he wants. You also reserve the right to stay or to leave. Arm twisting techniques will not work in a private company.

And by the way.....Pengassan is no saint. Look into what happens there and you will be shocked.

The most realistic method of demanding for what you think you deserve is by asking formally and if you are denied and yet are still convinced that you are worth more quit the job. If several people take that route management will.most definitely review their stance.

Thanks to the last 10 years this is now a Pro-Employers market.

Ever heard of health and safety?
Ever heard of ethics?
Ever heard of regulatory practice?

No sir, as someone who has worked in both the public and private sector for longer than I care to admit on NL, I can tell you that Dangote cannot run his company at whim. A refinery is not the same as a roadside Mama Put joint. Gerrit?

Especially for those that have obtained internationally recognized professional certification.
