I’m the First Person to Bring My Daughter to a Club” – Actress Laide Bakare Stirs Controversy

Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has set social media on fire after revealing that she personally introduced her 17-year-old daughter, Simisola, to clubbing and alcohol. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The actress made the disclosure during an interview with Mr. Lilgaga, where she explained her decision and the experience.
Her Statement

Speaking openly, Laide Bakare said:

I’m the first person that will bring her to a club. That was her first club experience ever. I love the fact that in her memory, she will say my very first clubbing and alcoholic drink was from my mum.”

According to her, the ages of 17 and 18 are formative years when young people are exposed to the realities of life. She claimed it was important for her daughter to experience such things under her supervision.

Addressing Her Daughter’s Body Physique

Laide also responded to online discussions about Simisola’s physical appearance, clarifying: “She’s 17 now, that’s just how we are in our family. Even me, I’m 44.”

This comes after the actress proudly celebrated Simisola’s academic achievement in Canada, where she graduated from high school at 16 with an impressive 4.80 GPA.

On Her Love Life

During the same interview, the actress opened up about her views on relationships. She admitted she is doubtful about falling in love again, stressing that for her, both money and love must come together.

“I doubt if I can fall in love. Money and love together — that combo must be complete. I’ve been broke, I’ve been down, and I came back again,” she said.
Public Reactions

Her revelation has sparked heated debate online, with some fans criticizing her for exposing her teenage daughter to clubbing, while others argue it reflects her personal parenting style.

By the way my first impression was to type "some people aren't fit to be mothers" but on a more careful thought who am I to judge?

They is no single comprehensive manual to life that works for all.

A man sent his son to war school he graduated and was employed as a war general and military strategist by the king. Another copied him and did same hoping to be employed too but was beheaded by the king.

We all can't follow same path in life. So do what works for you.

After all that girl that wanted to set a Guinness record by sleeping with 100 men is now a lagos state ambassador.

Birth your own child before questioning her decision. She should introduce the child to a gym too. I hate the excuse women give of “it’s our nature.”

End time mother ,no u should go ahead and introduce her to una hookup business...and the girl is even below 18years ,so if we are in saner climes, she would have been arrested for child abuse

An elderly man once told me; son before you get married check the family background, their family pattern, especially the mother's attitude. He told me that female children are influenced by their mother's behaviour

what has following or not following other peoples path got to do with a woman boasting that she took her underaged daughter to a club and gave her alcohol?

Only issue I see there is the girl being under 18. What’s there to wait for one more year??

But it’s good for adolescent to be exposed so they can’t be easily deceived and they’ll also be free to discuss anything with their parents.

Once you’re close with your kids to the point she can discuss her sexual life, it’ll be easy to correct her. Once you’ve failed, you’re realize that your teens are already advanced before you start. That’s why we now have kids with contraceptive implants without their parents knowledge. Just take it step by step.

Other serious countries are already far gone & using utilizing Internet to create awareness of their Tech Programs to pave way for their upcoming next generation.

Last last na Oyibo students exported handcrafts go dey end up for Nigeria... chaaiii 🤦‍♂️

If Naija was forward thinking, we suppose by now done dredge up Canals into d inlands & connecting shipways... already capable of launching our own Satellite... focus on other opportunities rather than crude oil... generate 247 electricity 4rm our blessings of Coal & natural Gas... but greed, wickedness, etc won't allow d Country

They rather resort to using Social Media to distract ppl 4rm ineffectiveness & employing some werey to be causing rift on Internet & creating tribal war

Funny enough, I also came into this thread wanting to bash her life and her lifestyle. But I read your comment and remembered that I just don't know enough to be able to understand why people do what they do.

I understand that the action she took is bad but would I have taken a different action if I was her, with her life experiences?

Thank you for stopping me from being a hypocrite.
