Haliimmaa:At bolded, what do you mean. I am using SL too and would like to know. |

Haliimmaa:Wow, getting hired from your first interview. Congratulations!!!. Is switching to a blue card a requirement for the job, or this is just a strategic move from you? For your question, this is where Hannania would have been most helpful. And also, switching from Dr Walter to TK, how smooth is it, and any financial requirements? I'm also on Dr Walter's insurance. Then lastly, since you said you used SL, I'm guessing your sponsor helped with your accommodation then? Glad to see you are doing well, pls don't forget to find time to come give us tips on surviving there. Are you taking any language classes or you don be expert already? . Wishing you the best once again. |

Kingsadviser:On another note, this is getting worrisome. 3 months just for visa decision, and we were getting worked up for being under Preliminary Review for up to a month now. Do we not need to organise a prayer session for this as it stands?? I pray for a favourable outcome for you tho. |

foonshur:You are still in preliminary review step? When did you apply? I am April 27th and I was asked to book appointment yesterday, after a series of corrections. |
| Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Haliimmaa: 2:20pm On Oct 07, 2025 |
foonshur:Thanks. Switching to the blue card is a requirement for a full time job as the opportunity card only allows you work for 20hr/week. Switching to TK has been straightforward so far. I'm just waiting to get my health card so I can cancel my DR Walter's insurance. My sponsor obviously had to declare he had enough space in his house for me to stay but i also got my own place and registered my anmeldung in that place. Depends on what you want. I haven't started taking any classes yet but I'll start as soon I'm settled into work. |

Haliimmaa:Aren't you so blessed to have landed a job so fast?! Big congrats!!!!! You give us hope. Thanks for the details. Wondering how long exactly it took between your interview and getting your visa? |

Haliimmaa:How long did processing of your Visa take? How long before you got decision? Mine is over 3 months now and still waiting. Only assume it's due to pick period (student visas and the summer holidays that's winding down now) |

victorygiven:Possible Questions to expect: 1. Do you speak German? 2. Why Germany 3. Would you like the interview to be conducted in Deutsch or English? 4. What will you be doing in Germany? 5. Where will you be living in Germany? 6. What are you long term plans? 7. How long do you intend to stay in Germany? 8. Have you been to Germany before? 9. Have you been applying for jobs in Germany already? 9. Any job offer? NB: these questions can vary depending on the Visa officer interviewing you or the answers you give to proceeding questions. |

[quote author=Haliimmaa post=137036525]Hey Hey. I've been okay. So the first thing I did was to find my way to the city center and got a number with telekom and paid for a prepaid subscription. I then proceeded to open a Revolut bank account. I looked for appointment dates to register my anmeldung and couldn't find one close to me so I booked an appointment in another district. Went for the appointment and got my anmeldung in under 10 minutes. I recently got a job and realized that the DR Walter's health insurance does not provide you with an SVNR(social security number) so I had to register with a public health insurance(registered with TK) and government office sent me my SVNR. I currently need to switch from the opportunity visa to a Blue card so I'm running around looking for an appointment before my start date which is next week. Anyone who can help should please reach out. I did not use a blocked account so I can't help with that. As for accommodation, I had it all sorted out before I even got to Germany. The landlord has to put your name plate on your mailbox so you can get letters like your tax id, SVNR, insurance number, insurance card, deliveries, e.t.c As for my job search, I was fortunate to get a job with the first company I interviewed with. I'm an iOS developer so the interview was first a HR interview, a 90 minutes live coding session and "meet the team". I got a job in 6 weeks of being here. If I could do it, you can as well. Let me know if you're curious about anything else Congratulations |

JIGGERNAPPY: foonshur:Ok, so I woke up around 6am this morning to my own set of corrections . Was asked to make an affidavit of declaration of age and also write a motivation letter. That shouldn't be a problem. But my biggest worry is the reference page. I provided a reference that stays here in nigeria and for the corrections, they are requesting I provide a reference that stays in germany. I do not have anyone that stays in germany let alone use as a reference. How did you go about this in your case? How many days were you allowed to make your corrections?? |
| Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by victorygiven: 8:25am On Oct 08, 2025 |
There is always a deadline for all corrections, only you can know the date, about the reference, send me an email, let me suggest one that would help, goodluck foonshur: |

Please, who offer SL service as proof, I'm scheduled for Preliminary review but would want to explore SL, Also does part time 20hrs/week contract still be presented as proof? I noticed SL and blocked account as the only 2 options for document uploads. |

wishgit:Whatever you're doing, stay away from people who say they offer sponsorship letters, it might be a scam. A lot of Nigerians in Germany will milk you for millions of Naira, even if they will issue it, it would cost you so much money. I always advice people to find a way to raise the money for a blocked account, even if it means that you have to borrow, at least the money would be safe in the blocked account. As for part-time work contract, it can be used (minimum net income has to be 1091 euros, that's after taxes). You can upload it in lieu of proof of funds. |

Just try to calculate the month they might ask you for preliminary review submission, Blocked account opening doesn't take long you can finish the whole process within 1-2 weeks DJ28: |

foonshur:Hey bro. Congratulations, let us know how long, preliminary review to interview takes. ---- for the reference : the "reference" line is just a standard field on many embassy forms. It's meant for applicants who already have someone in Germany - like a friend, employer, or host - but it's optional for those applying independently You can fill it in like this (any of these are fine): Option 1 - If you have no one there: Reference in Germany: None (I do not have a contact person in Germany yet.) Option 2 - If you have a temporary accommodation booked: Reference in Germany: [Hotel or Airbnb name] Address: [Address of accommodation] Email/Phone: [If available] Option 3 - If you plan to stay in a specific city but haven't booked yet: Reference in Germany: Not applicable Planned city of stay: [City name, e.g., Berlin, Munich, Hamburg] Just make sure not to leave it empty |

Good evening everyone Please has anyone experienced rejection after application. My sister applied for opportunity card with SL after waiting for 3 months and got a rejection today. We would like to appeal but Will appreciate the input of someone who has applied for an appeal before. |
| Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Diceman8: 9:01pm On Oct 08, 2025 |
ujay77:Did they state a reason for the rejection? |
| Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by Kingsadviser: 9:52pm On Oct 08, 2025 |
ujay77:So sorry to hear that your sister's Application was rejected. May I ask when was her appointment/interview? |
| Re: Migrating To Germany For Free : The Chancekarte Discussions by foonshur(m): 9:59pm On Oct 08, 2025 |
Diceman8:Ok, thank you. There's actually a space for you to reply(explain) to thier request different from the form space. I have already stated there that I do not have a reference in Germany. I'll see what thier reply to that will be... so it's thier move now. I dont think there should be any waiting period to interview again after preliminary review + corrections... I know immediately they are satisfied with the corrections made, you are allowed to book your interview date. Now that depends on the available dates. @JIGGERNAPPY can tell us what dates were available when he tried choosing one for his interview. |
