When you already have the total cost of the project and the total length, insisting on the cost per km is disingenuous because the terrain isn’t the same. He wanted to use that question as a trap for Umahi by using that figure to compare with unrelated road projects, on the basis of cost per kilometer. Glad that Umahi put the arrogant kid where he belongs

Was Oseni not rude with his arrogant posturing? Being an online personality and asking hard questions does not say Rufai should not to be polite to his guests. Seun Osinbaloye's questions are probably tougher.
Umahi was already a successful Engineer before Rufai finish secondary school, he was a former Governor and much Older than him. You can ask your questions without arrogance and rudeness.
I watch that program and was really piss off at Oseni, I completely agree with how Umahi handled him. Next time, Umahi should send his SA on media to answer Oseni questions.

I'm not a fan of Umahi but in the particular instance yesterday Rufai was not professional. What did he expect? You are telling him "after you reported me to the president" what does that mean? He is working for AriseTV and should try to keep his personal feelings in check while doing his work.

He should show respect to his guests. Oseni behaves like a child trying to get validation from the public, his argument are sometimes childish and he tries too much on occasions to impress.
Agree that Umahi is a public servant and should be accountable, but you can only have issues if he didn't answer your question, insisting he must answer your question in the manner you want shows lack of maturity.
Which mentality makes you to be rude to your guest. On many instances, Rufai trie to make hos guests look bad.
Bye the way Oseni brought the issue of reporting to Mr President up. Before Umahi answered, i was already shouting who is Rufai for a Minister to be reporting him to Mr President.
I was happy that Umahi put him where he belong
I cant speak for Wike or Umahi at another time but on this issue with Oseni, i asked again who is Oseni!
Read the article again before saying rubbish...Umehi is a public servant that can be questioned while Useni is a journalist that can question him, no Minister is bigger than their portfolio and unquestionable...make una dey use common sense dey defend rubbish.

My friend Dave Umahi by accepting to be a minister has became a public servant or figure that is subject to public scrutiny. Stop defending irresponsible civil servants who thinks they are gods on their high horses.
Absolutely agree with you Bro that public officers must be held accountable, however did Oseni achieve that on how he handled that program. He simply played to the gallery. Umahi didn't refuse to answer Rufai questions, but Rufai want the Minister to answer the question in the manner that suits the narrative he want push out there. Umahi didn't fall for that trap and why should he?

A public servant should work with humility. Journalists ask the most annoying questions. If the minister is smart, he can tactically evade the answer. They have pr that tea has the. How to answer questions. This is nigeria where professionalism does not count. A BBC journalist will ask him that and more. For every interview, there is what matters. No, Useni should prostate and say "please daddy sir" can I ask you a question before asking Umehi questions...you have just confirmed what the reporter is ecoing. You will do far worse than Umehi if given a chance to be a Minister, you will even tell all reporters that they should go on their knees before asking you questions like school children because you have made yourself an unquestionable emperor.

Thier arrogance stem from the fact that they know the level of contribution they did through rigging to put the present government in power.

Oseni was asking simple questions.
What has that got to do with when Umahi finished school or not.

It is this type of mentality that make you think other people don't have capacity.

Oseni was doing his job, but Umahi wasn't.

If he had another model of quantifying cost, he should have used the opportunity to educate Mr. Oseni on air and prove his superior view.

Not everything is about age, we are discussing public service not family meeting.
I once watched a video trump, in his 1st term, was telling a journalist that he was rude and should not ask any question.

Oseni was very rude and knew it. He wanted to provoke Umahi and he got the desired result. I agreed Umahinshould have handled it better.

He kept asking for cost per kilometer and Umahi said it is a strange term in civil engineering and moreover, he had broken the cost down in a previous show.

Do you know the definition of the word “Respect”?

We often misuse that word respect. Being respectful doesn’t mean being servitude.

Just because you're a journalist doesn't give you the right to be rude when asking questions. There's a way you ask politely. And you are taught this in the school of journalism.

Most of those supporting Oseni never watched the video.

Trump in his first term shut up a journalist in White House, telling him he was rude and heaven did not fall.

Under normal circumstances, the public should prevail on Tinubu to dismiss Umahi, but who will lead the protest? I suppose the only weapon Nigerians are still comfortable with is exposing certificate forgery. Only Tinubu has survived this so far smartly.

Humility and accountability should be enforced in public service.

Umahi was simply arrogant. Typical of Nigerian ruling class who see themselves as gods to be worshiped; of course Nigerians worship those who torment them

Tell that Donald Trump of USA

Or to Vladimir Putin of Russia.

Or to Kim Jong Yung of North Korea.

Then you will come to the realisation that being a journalist also requires courtesy in handling your guest.
