In view of the amnesty program proposed by Borno state govt to boko haram, the sect have released its own condition to be met by the fed/state govt before they can venture into dialogue with the govt.
This condition include:
1) the resignation of the present governor and the persecution of the immediate past governor and those responsible for the killing of their leader and members,
2) the implementation of sharia law in all northern state of Nig .

Meanwhile, in a terse statement written in Hausa and circulated around Maiduguri, yesterday, Boko Haram gave strict conditions for truce in the over two years uprising in the state.

Signed by one Usman Al-Zawahiri, who claimed to be the spokesman of the group, and entitled; Conditions for Dialogue with President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Kashim Shettima’, the group used the statement to react to recent overtures for talks by Governor Shettima and the calls on government to grant amnesty to detained members of the religious sect.

“We demand for the strict enforcement of Sharia legal system in the Muslim-dominated states in the North as part of conditions for dialogue with the government”, the group said in the statement. The Islamic sect also demanded the prosecution of the immediate past governor of Borno State, Senator Modu Sheriff for the killing of its leader two years ago as well as the release of all its detained members.

“If the government meets these conditions, we will agree to a ceasefire and enter into dialogue with them”, the statement added.
Boko Haram, which means ‘western education is sin’, launched its operation in 2009, but was checkmated by security forces, leading to the killing of its leader, Muhammed Yusuff.

Infact, they should all be sent to saudi arabia for islamic education since they are against western education.

When I strongly suggested that state of emergency be slammed on all the trouble-prone northern states, some people called for my head and considered me grossly undemocratic. Now, I wonder why a government in 2011 should in the first place think of entering into negotiation with a God-forsaken sect whose mission statement is clearly to throw the nation in retrogression.

I will cross my fingers and watch how their demands will be met by our dear cowering president. I will like to see the reaction of many northern elements (who secretly admire The Boko Haram sect) and whose children are currently enjoying the benefits of western education. I will like to see how the constitution of the federal republic will run in tandem with sharia laws in the (in due course) affected states.

If the northerners are seeking secession in the guise of boko haram operations, secession is what they will get. In the mean time, a protracted state of emergency is the antidote to the Borno saga.

Am not against Amnesty, very good if they can be rehabilitated.
But to run two different laws in the same country is not just possible.
Let those that want sharia law be guided by it and be independent and those that goes with the civil law gets their own independence so that each one can practice what is suitable for them.
This demand can never work under '1 NIGERIA.'

Definition of AMNESTY. : the act of an authority (as a government) by which pardon is granted to a large group of individuals.


I do not think this is what they are asking for, they are threatening that they will continue bombing and killing Christians if their demands are not reached,

Oh please give me a break! These aint serious? Oh come on! Such outrageous demands. Why didnt they ask for "boko haram state of nigeria ?". This is just what they want-recognition-attention, n what have you. A duly democratically elected governor resign because some small-pain-in-the-tooth-irrelevant-but-definetly-not-pushover-extremist-sect-probably-less-than-a-thousand group of people wants or demands it? BTW: The EX governor should be probed as stated, that's not too much to ask, he must know something about Boko Haram and their activities hence the reason the leader was hastily killed to avoid him ratting out all the sponsors.
