in these days of coveting other people's property and cultural appropriation, it is important to state that egusi is a yoruba stew. it is a yoruba name. I am not going to argue with ibos if they say they have had their own version of egusi from time immemorial or whenever their history started but they should call it by it's ibo name. We yorubas eat afam, ogbono, edi kang kong, you wont hear any yoruba saying they are yoruba stews or they are yoruba names. we dont claim what is not ours others should not claim what is not theirs. We have enough to be proud of what is ours and to leave to Ceaser what is Caeser's and other's who are not ashamed of their culture history and traditions should do same.

Etymology

The 'ẹ' means 'to', 'gun' means 'pound' or 'grind', and 'ṣi' means 'to open'; this etymology of 'egusi' soup, meaning 'to grind open', reflects the procedure used in its preparation.[9][10]

Egusi stew is now widely eaten across large portions of West and Central Africa where it is known by various local names, many of which are variants of the word egusi itself. Some of the other names egusi goes by across the region include:

Hausa : Agusi,[12] Agushi[13] (via Yoruba)[14]
Twi : Akatowa[15]
Ga : Agushi, Egushi[16][17]
Igbo : Élìlì,[18] Énìnì, Ekeke, Ahụ, Élìlè, Ilolo, Iroro, Éyìyè, Ogili, Nwanru,[19] Ègwúsí (Onitsha Igbo; via Yoruba)[20][21]

Not all politicians are to blame; bad citizens are equally complicit...those tarnishing the country's image home and abroad are not solely politicians.

The only problem we having in this country is bad politicians.

You don't realise how tasty Nigerian food is until you leve tis country and stay outside for 1 month.

Even the NAIJA food like beans and yam porridge that you used to snub will taste like gold.

I'm Yoruba and pounded yam is our favorite meal. The fact that you mentioned ekiti and amala shows you know little about Yoruba.
That said, you can't compare amala and that smelly cassava start meal you call akpu. The amala I know most people eat is made from whole yam tuber. Let's be guided please.

Cho cho cho!!! What do you know about Yoruba people? Where I come from, amala isn't a thing for us. Apart from Oyo people, I don't know any other Yoruba subgroup that love amala more than pounded yam.
Just so you know, akpu smells like shiiiit.
I can't see amala with goat meat and choose akpu na. That thing is too strong for my throat. If it's not pounded yam, semo or amala, then I'm not interested.
