First buda, I hope you are not the one who banned me last time I tried to respond to your posts.

Now, I am not the one who woke up one morning, communicated in English, dressed in clothes that are alien to my culture and tradition - and suddenly felt bad and ungrateful about everything I have received from my "colonisers"! It was you and your likes on this board.

I am grateful to them for what we have gained from them - medicines, Isaac Newton with his breakthrough Calculus and mechanics, nuclear physics, engineering, etc etc. This is real progress we can all see and there is no denying that it came from them.

Left to you and your likes, we should be consulting Ifa
You know very well I hate liars and people who can't comprehend what they read.

Read what that b has been quoting I wrote:

budaatum:
I never said colonisation was all bad. It is my opinion that if you had not been colonised, you'd still be selling yourselves and killing twins and believe the spirits in the forest are killing you.

My argument is, you had no choice in being colonised because you were less knowledgeable than those who colonised you, and along with that colonisation was your enslavement, which you think was good for you.
budaatum:
One should yap against colonialism in one's uncolonized language, is my preferred position, and I am thankful for my proficiency in the language of the coloniser and the books it empowers me to be able to read .
I can't ban anyone. Seun has not given me such powers.

Its how they roll, they find a cause where their virtue signal can shine on. You don't see yourself as a victim, they cry, you don't see them as a victim they cry.

You acknowledge there are racists in the world and its human nature. Focus on people who love and care for you, they still cry.

My parents told me stories of the endemic corruption in those Nigerian Scholarship Boards.

In the book "No Longer At Ease" by Achebe, the protagonist Obi Okonkwo was on a Scholarship Board and took a bribe to give an award.

Subsidies ARE corruption and ultimately infringe on human freedom and destroy economic productivity. The USA is the best country on earth precisely because it's based on LIMITED GOVERNMENT.

Government should be restricted to ACTIVITIES THAT ARE CLEARLY impossible for individuals to undertake. The Igbo of Nigeria generally didn't have free education yet attained some of the highest literacy and educational qualifications in Nigeria. Government is always a PROBLEM, not a solution to anything.

Good Luck to Nigeria.
Fight corruption itself rather than kill initiatives that are good. Scholarships aren't bad. Corruption is what is bad.. deal with corruption..

Killing or ending scholarships would be like throwing the baby and bath water together.

We all have benefited from one form of scholarship or the other.. and we were happy. you think someone who's parents had nothing but benefited from government sponsored scholarships would be saying the same thing your saying ?

I cant believe i am arguing these things with folks who may not be earning more than a million dollar a year.

Its shocking

Public education typically goes to children and they are free because the children cannot work to provide education for themselves, Once they become Adults, then Universities and colleges stop being free

Just like there is healthcare for poor children
You do know that healthcare is for the sick who can not work, right?

What good is free "healthcare for poor children", but not for their poor sick parents?

Would feeding those children not cost you more when their sick parents die?

That's the colonized mindset we are talking about. You are thankful for the language of the colonizers. It helps you read their books.

Since it's all bad why not avoid it?

Yes, we had no choice which is the struggle and suffering I am referring to when I said our forefathers suffered. But there were benefits too.

You cannot deny this, Infact you agreed there were benefits. You read the books. You communicate easily with people from different parts of the globe

That's from you. What do you mean by this? If the conditions were reversed, and you are the ones to colonise the Whites, will you hesitate one bit, when you know it's to your advantage? Heck we should be thankful these guys didn't think of wiping out our forbears! It's not a sign of cowardice or weakness to acquiesce to superior force or knowledge. That's what our forbears did - and we are here today because of that.

Hopefully you see why I avoid you like you are the plague when you read I said there were benefits, yet still ask, "Since it's all bad why not avoid it?"

Colonisation, like all things, had both good and bad consequences. Slavery, which accompanied it was good for the coloniser and bad for the colonised, and many would in fact claim colonisation's contribution to creating Nigeria is a bad thing they've been trying to destroy ever since. But that's far too complex for your black and white reasoning to get your head around I guess.

Africa founding presidents adopted the big man syndrome, they became irreversibly corrupt . The westerners took advantage of their greed to maintain us in a neo. colonial state. Many countries are still dependent on their first colonial masters The french were the worst in terns of neo colonialism where their Central Bank holds sway on fiscal matters till today

Much of Africa woes belongs to post colonial leadership . As is wont the leaders shift blame from themselves to the colonizers. Cameroon presidents daughter is tired of her 90 something dad wanting another term.
The west has tried to help Africa in terns of orderly and democratic changing of power ,but they have also instigated coups and counter coups throughout post independence .period.

Most progressive societies do not give you that option, so you might want to consider buying some island in the middle of nowhere and live there.

And for your information, you are not being asked to "be responsible for another adult". You are compelled to be responsible for your community.

Elon and co have them convinced that they’re one good investment away from being like them. So they support measures that oppress the actual economic class they belong in. You actually think black people don’t have any inventions to their credit? All you have to do is look it up and not take your information from your white master.

Just off the first search without any deep research, you can find hundreds of inventions by black people. None of these actually include the ones that weren’t credited to the true black inventors due them being property of their white slave masters at the time.

Literal shame on you weak men.

1) Corruption enabled by subsidies and welfare can NEVER be eliminated. It's IMPOSSIBLE.

By the way, Baltimore City Schools spend about $20K per student - one of the highest expenditures in the USA - and has some of the worst education outcomes in the country.

Major education corruption scandal in Baltimore.

Housing Program Corruption

The Mafia was big into housing corruption in New York

2) No, it would be an invitation to parents to take responsibility for their children.

* Public subsidized and provided education enables the State of California to allow children to transition their sex and makes it a crime to inform the parents.

* Teachers are terrorized by students because the students know they can't be disciplined in public schools, they do delinquent stuff they wouldn't do in private schools.

* Sweden the darling of USA liberals divides up their education budget and gives each family an equal amount and they get to spend it wherever they want. Over 50% of Swedish families choose PRIVATE schools for their children the same way Elizabeth Warren chose private schools for her kids but she still tries to kill private schooling at every opportunity. Our last Governor Cooper of North Carolina I think vetoed a bill to do the Swedish thing in our state here, but Republicans made it become law. All his kids went to private schools too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xopibfXRIhA

3) Yes, but in the long term ALL government programs, especially those that are NOT naturally the duty of government, degenerate into waste and inefficiency. Over the long term, they NEVER create more or better value than privately owned equivalents.

Good Luck to Nigeria.

Bros,
1. benalvi, in reference to his post, directed that question to yourself, RogersAkpafu and buda. He has followed your posts (I'm sure historically and current, I daresay I have read some of your comments on this board too) to get to that point and ask that question.

2. The US is a majority White country. See 2020 stats below.

So, again, what are you doing there??
You read my posts and yet cannot point out where I said I hate white people.
If you are following Bemeruca you should ask him to quote me. But by following him you are already lost.
So, you basically made a post premised on lies and distortions.

My point is, this is no different than what you do on a regular basis.
You hear someone say something on Right wing media (usually a lie or distortion) and then you go around repeating it or using it as the basis of your thought processes.

It's ok do your own research and independently think through things so you are and not relying on not bright people and liars to think for you.

Colonisation was not necessarily good for Nigeria because it involved the theft of millions of Nigerians. Like most things it has both a good and bad sides, depending on the understanding of who is asked.

China is 1.4 billion

It is NOT feasible to raise the living standards of 1.4 billion magically

Even at that
The hundreds and hundreds of millions they have lifted from poverty, and the hundreds millions more to be lifted is very commendable

You cant take that from them
