What is even the point if the tinted permit? OK assuming a crime is commited with a tinted vehicle, how does tint permit enable police to identify the vehicle? Will the tinted permit number or barcode be boldly written on the body of the vehicle to enable identification? Is it not the number place of the car that will be used to identify the vehicle and get the owner? The tint permit in no way aids in identification, it is simply a means of revenue generation. If you check you will see there is a "consultant" managing the system and getting a huge chunk of the revenue. On closer scrutiny of that consultant you may see some interested parties in the background having ownership or partnership, bottomline, sharing money. |

treesun:So my 14k wey dem collect in July don go be dat? Hope when the policy is reactivated in future they won’t ask me to pay again. That’s where I will have issues with the enforcement teams. I have my printout of the payment I made and the invitation they sent me to go for biometric capture. Anytime they want to enforce the policy, it should suffice for me to just do the biometric capture and put them behind me. |

The CP for Port Harcourt shamelessly said there's nothing like court order stopping the tinted glass enforcement. Just imagine a whole CP, then what do we expect from those after him and those at check points. You did right but me, I can't come and be removing anything for now cos I know they must obey last last.....i tinted my glass ever since my property was stolen in a car park. Your car is a bit secured when the inside is not all that exposed. Also, I tinted cos of the leather seats, makes the leather seats to be protected from direct sunlight.....then, it gives your a sense of security especially when in the hold up. Beggars and hoodlums would not be able to assess you or check you out to harm you. I have been attacked before in hold up in an umtinted glass car.....the hoodlums came and surveyed the car very well, even made a joke with me to wind down and give him money for pure water, after dashing him 100 naira, he suddenly disappeared and came back with 4 other boys and started dragging the car 4 doors, each idiots to each doors as if it's their car.....i deliberately hit the car in my front, reversed and hit the car at the back just to raise enough alarm while my hands was steady on my powerful horn. I was raking mad at my pedal, raising the car like a power bike while praying that they shouldn't have gun with them o.....this was in Lagos, Apongbon bridge going to CMS area....2018.....anyway, they fear superior madness and ran away......🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣It's only God and boldness....i hardly fear, I prefer to see wetin wan kill me than unknowingly died of anything.......... You are very right. What's the essence of tinting your glass since criminals could take advantage of it and be committing crimes with it also with their own cars....However, look at it the other way round, you are visibly been seeing and assessed by criminals when your car ain't tinted. You are susceptible to harm when your car is not tinted cos they could see you very, know you are alone in the car, able to see your property a times.....i think it's better they allowed thentinted glasses to stay but with a strict instruction that on approaching any checkpoints, wind down your car to the last glass.......its better that way cos in am yet to see where Police have been able to reduce crime cos they stopped tinted glass cars.....doesnt make any sense......police should enforce it that on approaching any checkpoints, all cars should wind down their windows, either tinted or non tinted.......... If the police men were doing thorough work, there won't be need for tinted permits. Besides, even with the permit, criminals still drive past them without detection. |

Mathewrichard99:You sure made tangible points but the law made to serve the larger interests of all should always supercede any other factor,I know for a fact that in Europe or the us, every imported product must meet their internal legal requirements, the fad of tinted glasses started with the importation of cars with factory fitted tinted glasses but since it wasn't controlled Nigerians then began to tint their car glasses as a form of fashion then criminal elements took advantage of it,your suggestion is good but we all know how powerless the police are in Nigeria no thanks to our attitudes as Nigerians n the government itself, what Nigerians don't dare try with police authorities outside they do it here boldly,I have seen several cases of where even young individuals rain insults on police officers for no reason at all, it's like a thing of pride here, some out of complete ignorance so condemned the police so shamelessly, the police are not saints either but one who engaged in wrong doing have no moral justification to condemn the police,so to me tinting of vehicle glasses should just be outrightly banned or let's just forget about it, asking some people to just wind down their glasses will lead to all sort of unbelievable fabricated stories against the police, many Nigerians are so lawless but only expect the law to work in their favour n not against them, it's so shameful. |

RichIgboBoy:.yes they are correct meaning a criminal that is using it for dubious activity won't be able to go for d permit because of some documents that will be requested from him. Hence even if anything goes wrong they can track him with his details. Everything is not about negativity about the government try dey reason the benefits sometimes plz |

RichIgboBoy:I understand how u feel but for the sake of SECURITY it's better they reduce d rate anyone can use it anyhow 😞😔 Truly it will make dubious activities run easily let's reason think critically because u can't see who is in or whatsoever.. |

| Re: Tinted Permit Enforcement On Hold – Police by RichIgboBoy: 9:42am On Oct 14, 2025 |
Privatepart00:I used virtual verification and the whole process didn’t take more than 10minutes. Approval and permit was given under 4 working days |
| Re: Tinted Permit Enforcement On Hold – Police by 18wheeler: 2:06pm On Oct 15, 2025 |
Privatepart00:I just did the registration prior to biometric capture. The SIB in my location are not doing it so it’s pending. There was no option of virtual verification then. |
