How many times did you guys run the hype on Frederick post-tournament? Tell me? How many times? How many times was he touted by many here as a truly defensive pearl for the future even after we crashed out?

I talked up Frederick everywhere and my posts on TwitterX are still there if anyone browse the name "Benjamin Frederick".

A few of us actually do the due diligence of following up on these youngsters and not only remembering them when we have a tournament.

This is how Benjamin Frederick was not taken so seriously on this thread until 2 yrs on, he got a Super Eagles call up and then everyone is taking notice.

Frankly speaking every one and anyone invited to our national team must really possess the supposed requisite talent, devoid of shenanigans, bribery and nepotism. Will you beat your chest and say this is what we could come up with in 2 years of knowing and prepping for a major competition as FIFA grade? No na! we can do better and that's what we are asking.

We see talents and we RECOGNIZE talents, not everyone is interested in following the talents post tournament. Did we recognize their talents? Yes we did. Today, my pick is Ochoche, and I hope he comes good.

I don't believe it's wrong say ballers came from a particular region. I'm not saying it because of where they live or exposure. There's a study that claims all the top 100m athletes have genelogy from a part in West African. So it might just be our strength and it has nothing to do with tribalism. Southern Nigeria have dominated sports for a reason and it's not just because of their population and exposure. From what I have noticed nobody likes sports pass northerners oo.

I don’t think anyone is saying the players might not come good, they might, but doesn’t take away the slack from NFF.

This is really mediocre showing from the boys, I put all blame on NFF, such poor annoying group of non chalant greedy people.

I can’t even say super eagles will beat Lesotho boldly.

Left to me, Nigeria football needs a shut down and reset as soon as this tenure ends. There should be no NFF board elections. If we are gonna get banned by fifga for the next 5 years, then so be it. If it will help us correct all fundamental issues such as player welfare, Infrastructure, sports medicine, Crowd control, logistics etc. By now, no team should be travelling by road to honor a fixture.... Forget the I got here before you Kano Pillars syndrome. If you dont have the requisite requirements, the get off the NPFL league. Any team that doesnt have academies need to be dissolved. We need to do the right thing. It cant be worse than already is if we are gonna be worried that many will end up being jobless. What matters is the objective at hand. .... SHUT DOWN NAIJA FOOTBALL!!! Let FIFA ban us. We go still dey here and alright too

And whether we follow this talents or not, or know about them or, a genuine talent will always shine.

So if there are genuine talents in this team, they will shine and pop out, we don’t need to follow up and down, that is the job of NFF technical teams or scout or whom ever.

This is the best point so far this evening.

In 2013 and 2015, the team camped for a very long time, played so many friendlies with local clubs. There was even a mini tournament involving all the cadre of the national team(with exception of the main super eagle)

The result was a well coordinated play at the world cup culminating in lifting the trophy in style

Now NFF doesn't want to spend money not work but wants to reap where they did not sow.

My brother, if you like give the team 10 years of camping together, if the coaches that would coach them are bereft of ideas, nothing tangible will still come out of the players

Again, I will not be a party to this discission route. I know where it ends so I avoid it.

Even Arsenal has discovered that its players of southern Nigerian descent that do well and its only a matter of time before other clubs notice this.

The black americans, Jamaicans, brazilians and other carribean who do well in sports are descendants of southern Nigerians or people who lived along the coast of west Africa.

Those boys tried not embarrass their father land, except for the goalkeeper though. But the tactical know how is lacking. You can't really do much. We were 3 goals down and the coach decided to substitute all the 3 midfielders. We were never dominated in the midfield. We just couldn't do anything upfront.

Sometimes you need to acknowledge that others may be right too. Your perspective is one side of it all. How about answering the question "How we got here? " I am not the type that likes mediocrity especially when it can be avoided by something called use of common sense. Others may like to look at the positives like saying Oh yeah we had one or 2 prospects.

Responding to the bolded, I will say it still comes down to our lack of planning. We have an U17 team that played a tournament and have been together for 2years. Surely there would have been some form of chemistry in that team. Did we build on that team or we started to look for one finished article overseas? Was there a structure to maintain the momentum? When there is an international break, you see Europe playing U20 friendlies. We dont do that. People like Nduka Ugbade, Dimeji Lawal, Mutiu Adepoju, Ohenhen, Philip Osondu will weep for this set up. One might argue shebi we were using overaged players then. But at least the structure in the team was visible.

It's been huff and puff all the way these days even in the Super Eagles. Can we just for God and Country do the right thing the right way? Why should we hope to win if we fail in the basics? Pesin wey no know BODMAS, wetin e dey find for additional Maths? How will he cope?
