Dear Nairalanders,

We are ramping things up. Here are some things we have done recently:

1. We gave Nairaland's theme a little facelift, fixing buttons, pagination, separators, and other little things.

2. We implemented a dark mode for Nairaland with the most intuitive UX: a sun toggle on your upper right.

3. We further relaxed the minimum character rule because many people were still struggling with it.

We are also trying to make our moderation bot (aka antispam bot) more accurate. Bear with us on that.

What else do you want us to work on?

Give us a dislike button.
Programme the bots to send a post with 100 dislikes to the mods. Any account with 3 justified >100 dislikes should be deleted from the forum. That would further strengthen the campaign against ethnic bigotry.

Allow permanent blocks. I have a list of at least 20-25 people I have to refresh the blocks every 3 weeks. Or at least give users the option to unblock. There are people on this forum I have no wish to interact with and from comments from others I am not the only one who feels that way.

If you truly want to solve hostility, insults and make the site a more pleasant place dont many state users by unblocking people they blocked. If I block someone , I blocked them for a reason, I don’t want to see their posts or interact with them.

We can remove the topic we show above every comment. Instead, we can show the topic after every 3, 4, or 5 comments since it's a forum. But there's no need showing it before every comments.

We should also shorten the text shown when a person is quoted. Anyone who wants to see the whole quote can click a button to view it. Otherwise, we should only see a snippet of the quoted text.

We should make the like button a bit longer. I mistakenly press report when I want to like sometimes. We can also use a different color scheme for the like button so that it stands out.

Most importantly, let us increase the duration of the block button to 30 days. 3 weeks is short and blocking some people every 3 weeks is stressful.

The power to unblock someone should rest with the person who instituted the block. You are blocked on WhatsApp until I unblock you and if I choose not to unblock you, you remain blocked.

You cannot claim to want a more harmonious site and then unblock a user that someone has blocked. It means contrary to postulations you want to foster disharmony! It means secretly Nairaland wants conflict. Perhaps it’s good for your site engagement?

I rarely get banned by the Bots these days because most of the bans were caused by responses to people who I have now blocked.

Nice work seun , may I also suggest you work on creating your own version of grok for nairaland that can be used to factcheck claims and posts in real time, this will go a long way in reducing propaganda and false information.

Could it be done that when a notification is received, it is in bold?
Eg:

The way it is, I think it's dull and not catchy as you may miss notifications.

Also, can you create an 'Alert (2)' system that shows notifications for mentioned, likes, shares, followed topics, follower's post? Maybe different for the followed board or anyone you can exclude.

2. Additionally, can you reduce the price for the sponsored post?

4. Could there be a switch make the daylight/light default to the time so it changes automatically?

It clutters the page and makes a page longer than it should be

I belive before opening a topic they user already knows the title and does not need to be reminded every scroll

I want to plead that here are some accounts that have been barned for years now. Kindly look into freeing up some of them.

Since nairaland has a bot now and things have been tightened up, I believe the users of these accounts won't be able to try what barned them in the first place.

And if one sustains anger level over 3weeks to one month cuz of a comment or few comments in a faceless or virtual forum , then one should check themselves in real life.

Why will I write Taqqiyah and spam bot will ban me.... Why will I write the word normal words we use in our everyday speech like Mumu or maga and the spam bot will block me. Even to the extent I will write my western brothers ... Spam bot will block me too .... I don tire

Nairaland views drop drastically as a result of tiktok, majority of female users have all left nairaland.

Can suen even I mplement shot video blogging? Even dstv is suffering subscription because of tiktok. Even me I now spend more time on tiktok than nairaland.

Lastly the mods are partisan with the front page.

Well done Seun, I've never regretted joining NL since 2007....and i have seen alot of the efgort you put in to make it a safe place to share ideas, learn and get update ls about a myriad of live issues ...Thanks again for the opportunity and may God keep blessing the works of your hands 👏

My one request : Is it possible to develop this platform to identify and PERMANENTLY ISOLATE monikers that are gradually turning this "safe place" into one of the most toxic platforms after "X" and now infested with trolls, bullies, rabid tribalists, intolerant politicians and their proxies,who either perpetually derail conversations here and make the place unbearable for people like me and other peaceful individuals? 🤔 Abeg, Seun...help us o grin
