🇿🇼 Zimbabwe coach Michael Nees: "Friday will be a fun day for us. We are preparing for AFCON, and Bafana Bafana is our opponent in AFCON. People have been undermining my players in this part of the world, we have a quality team than our Friday opponent." I believe, and we need to prove that. Besides that, this match is a derby and we will win. Look we have no pressure but we need to cause havoc and to be remembered as party spoiler for long time to come. South Africa Bafana Bafana have been together for a while but they don't have our quality. On Friday you will know." |

When you people are done crying, let's focus on the AFCON. As for this World Cup, it's gone and gone forever. I hope South Africa do well if they make it through. They deserve it. 100%. In fact, 1000%. |

At the end of the day, the Super Eagles need only pick up the remaining 6pts to be assured of 2nd at worst. When FIFA does the Calculations to balance things out to determine the actual 4 best 2nd placed sides, we will have only 2 pts removed from 17 meaning we wil end on 15. The endgame scenario for us is to have no more than 3 teams in 2nd, top our "potential 15pts". Chikena. Looking at the groups, most of the teams in second walloped their bottom team home and away... so that is 6pts to be removed from their total. It is not over yet till it is truly over. Amedino99: |

UncleHaba22:Not having VAR cost the SE badly in the earlier fixtures. Genuine goals were ruled as offside making at least 2 matches end in a draw. |

The 2001 Flying Eagles class remain the worst we have ever had and that is not even a debate. I know my history. And you would be surprised who was coach then. And you are right, when a team does crashes out this woefully, good players wont be noticed to many but not to the few who look beyond the results. This was same scenario as 2007 in the Quarters to Chile. 4-0 too. comodo: |

TheSuperNerd:Tanzania messed up that chance yesterday by losing their home game. They were in a strong position to make that happen but the stupidly lost their last 2 matches Now even if u add up the 6 points from Eriteria and give them they wont even make it to be best losers which will make removing the points not neccessary |

elyte89:Let me explain.. U know tanzania is in eriteria group ? (Good)Before their last 2 matches they were in a good position to make that point deduction hapen becoz despite lackin 2 matches they were still competing for the best 2nd place. Ok Now imagine if they maintained that pace and eventually it was the eritrea matches that made them not make it, Fifa would say "ok lets do the deduction to make it fair on tanzania". But unfortunately tanzania have carelessly lost 2 matches in a row which slowed them down. Now even if u award them 6points from eritrea games they still wont make the points needed to be in that position. So that means eriteria wont do any imapct on them anymore. I hope u understand? |

Mexico U20s and Gilberto Mora. Always liked them at this U20 WC. And I hope they reach the semis ahead of the Argentines. The Mexicans might just be experiencing the rise of a new golden generation for their football. Mora at 16 started the Concacaf Gold Cup final earlier this year and Mexico beat USA 2-1. He also got the assist for their winning goal in the semis vs Honduras. Lad would be 17 by 14th of this month. Really rooting for the mexicans. Vargas, Montiel, Gimbres and Mora have shown their quality as fantastic midfield talents. Mora most especially. Touted as the Mexican Pedri and I have seen enough to see why. As for Morocco U20s. I expect them to get past South Korea. They were unlucky at the CAF U20 Afcon Final. They should have won the title. For Nigerian Football, I just hope the Super Eagles take these 2 last games seriously and win both well whether we make the mundial or not, go back to their clubs and keep performing. We have an Afcon to go redeem ourselves at. The NFF should stay their hands during this period. They should not make any more stupid decisions as they have done enough damage already. Another dark period is here for our football but we will come out of it as always. I know this. |

2026 WCQ: Super Eagles fail to make list of runners-up for playoff - Daily Post Nigeria https://dailypost.ng/2025/10/09/2026-wcq-super-eagles-fail-to-make-list-of-runners-up-for-playoff/ What kind of journalism is this - the title is misleading. There's still mathematical chance of qualifying as explained in the body of the news but the title is off. |

NIGHTMARE0O7:Niger is yet to play. If Niger loses to Zambia then this your point might stand if best losers are 19 points and above. Else the deduction will likely happen. I think this deduction thing is rubbish honestly. It might benefit us, but it is still rubbish. Instead, FIFA should just award games that have been cancelled as no show. And lastly, Eritrea should be banned forever from FIFA. This is like the fifth time this happened. Does this not count as govt interference? |

Chelle knows little about his players, uncapped players and his team Super Eagles. He should invite and try these players: Ebenezer Akinsamiro Onuche Ogbelu Vince Osuji (looks like another Benjamin Frederick) Chibuike Nwaiwu Sodiq Awujoola Alessandro Marcandelli(if he commits) |

JohnBullMySon:Exactly 3 points 3 goals for all teams against Eritrea to maintain the integrity of all groups. It would be criminal for Nigeria to gate crash into the playoff |

JohnBullMySon:Naah.. niger played 3-1 yesterday They only overtook tanzania yesterday. Tanzania was the best bet. I agree with u on eritrea. Even allthese african teans that has no pitch to host qualifiers has no business with world cup. Example zim and lesotho. They did fraud in our group with SA |

NIGHTMARE0O7:Make una de calm down abeg. Zimbabwe coach don talk say they will take the match seriously and use it for AFCON, preparations and also make a mark in the qualifiers una say na match fixing tactics. The Eritrea withdrawal case na still una de wan justify why we shouldn’t be there. Niger Republic is currently on 12 points in that group if they win their last match, they could be on 15 points. If you add the 6 points they could tentatively get from Eritrea, that 21 points. Must the points be measured with that of Tanzania? We are trying to pressure CAF/FIFA to adopt that method as it was done before, na still Nigerians de wan pour sand sand inside the call. Nawao. Wether or not the group E runner up emerge or not after the deductions that doesn’t mean FIFA will not adopt the method, all this una talk go make fifa to just lock up and we go comot. As team take play qualifiers thats not necessary how they will perform during the tournament proper. The Atlanta 96 team, struggled to qualify too, if na now una for don tell them to sidon no need to go the tournament as dem de play rubbish for qualifiers. As far as I am concerned, we will fight till death, until our chances of qualification is zero. My hope is still intact. We will win our next 2 matches. SouthAfrica will lose or draw with Zimbabwe and same thing against Rwanda. If that doesn’t happen, we will play the play off after FIFA applies the necessary adjustments. With Cameroon, Gabon and Either Burkinafaso or Dr Congo. |

JohnBullMySon:There is a precedence, its not rubbish. Every time this situation occurs, this method is adopted, teams are aware of this so they expect it. But it seems are technical directors in NFF are just tthere to make up the numbers |
