Political statement just to get igbo support in the election. We all know if Atiku is the president today, he wouldn't think of releasing Nnamdi Kanu till he concludes his term of government. But again, our igbo brothers could be easily deceived by this statement and start to hail Atiku
Why didn't Tinubu release him to still get what you are accusing Atiku for.

Nobody should be released. Focus on stabilisers for the economy at this time. We don't need more trouble

Putinofrussia:
They can release him on the condition that he stays out of what he was doing before that caused hatred and arson.
I watched and listened to when he was saying that they should burn down things, kill some people and so on.
That man is even dangerous to some of the prominent people of his tribe because I heard what he had said against a lot of them including Obi.
They can pardon him with conditions that will curtail his violence prone behaviour.
He won't respect any condition. He is a free mad man. Nobody can tell him what to do. Nobody can advice him. Nobody can threaten him either. He's lost so much to stop at this point.

He won't change. He is still the same man and probably have seen more reason to go tougher than he did. The best option is the Ekpa treatment. Have an indepth discussion and agreement with his other home, the UK, and make sure he remains in line or gets the Ekpa treatment. It's better they are the ones handling it.

so why the Judge on the case always absent from court anytime the Case comes up for hearing, Igboho is now a free man while kanu is still in DSS custody.
Direct your queries to the judge. They are an independent arm of government.

As for igboho, I don’t recall him killing anyone, ordering his supporters to destroy, burn or kill any person or private, public property. Secondly these incidents you describe occurred before Tinubu came to office. Tinubu was excluded from govt at the time, remember how you people mocked him from being excluded from the Buhari govt after working to install him? Thirdly, you account for your own actions, they don’t catch you for a crime and then you start arguing that it is not fair because other criminals got away with their crime. Face your own crime.

Political differences aside, I lend my voice to the call for the immediate release of Nnamdi Kanu. This is a position I’ve clamored for since 2024.
A complete judicial process would do justice to him and Nigerians. Arresting him was politics, releasing him was politics, rearresting him was proper but the judicial drama since his return from Kenya was a needless political drama. Releasing him without exhaustive judicial process won't deter his likes across Nigeria. Nigeria doesn't learn from her repeated mistakes

Now that Obi is no longer in ADC, they must look for anything, I mean anything to get the attention of those people.
What attention? You have held an innocent msn in detention for about 4 years in the name of politics against the Igbo.

Those who have no problem with the federal government releasing five thousand Boko haram fighters, offering peace deal to bandits and negotiating with terrorists, are the people who have the biggest problem with releasing Nnamdi Kanu

Whatever! Mr man, what do you have to say about his quickly deleted tweet when Deborah was lynched? You obviously evaded that question….

Atiku has always been voted for in the south east
So it is not a new thing.
Votes or no votes he has spoken a one of the public figure in the country.

We can't argue if he can or cannot since he is not in the position to do so. You argued that he said what he said for politics. My argument became what is stopping Tinubu for releasing him for politics too.
The right thing must be done.

He has the right to do or say anything he feels like.
It is left for the court to decide if he is guilty or not.
If he deleted his tweet that is his choice. He is not accountable to u or anybody.

How does holding him in prison help the economy or stop the insecurity of the country.

You talk about the right thing been done which I agree with you. The right thing to be done is for an independent institution to do its job without executive interference. It isn't Tinubu that is holding him back, it is the court which is an independent institution. Tinubu must allow the court of law to do is job by staying out of the case. If a judge rules that he be released then so be it. However, till date , no judgement of such have been pronounced so leave Tinubu out of it.

Deadlytruth:
Atiku was vice president of Nigeria when Obasanjo his boss captured Uwazurike (The Nnamdi Kanu equivalent of those times) and detained him without trial but Atiku never one day kicked against Obasanjo for that. The only time when Atiku found it justified to fight Obasanjo his boss was when Obasanjo's posturing was threatening his ambition to become president.
If it were Tinubu,he will do the same. That is the way of our politicians.

Nothing but a mere political statement from Atiku. If he were the President, would he release such a die-hard criminal? Mr. Atiku should wait until 2031, and if he becomes the President of Nigeria then, he can release Kanu.

Kanu is going through the court system.

Atiku should be advocating for the arrest of those bandits coming to meeting with guns

Many thanks for your kind reply and pointing to the OP on your rationale.

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by Tinubu inheriting Sowore and Igboho as political prisoners since there is no evidence that they were in Nigerian prisons on May 29, 2023?

seunmsg:
In the overall interest of peace, unity and national cohesion, I’m calling for the immediate and conditional release of Nnamdi Kanu. The only condition being the complete renunciation of all kinds of violent agitation for Biafra.

When Tinubu was sworn in, he inherited some political prisoners like Kanu, Sowore, Igboho etc. while Sowore and Igboho are now free, Kanu is still in detention.
