I can't receive updates on it.
With much googling, I understood that the bootloader is locked and I can't install another ROM.
I've tried applying for bootloader unlock but it's not working. I get a error saying the location of the Mi account device is different from the country it was sold.

I tried a Python script from GitHub on my PC (put the phone in bootloader state, connect to PC) but the program still gives me the error of location purchase and MI account.

Have anybody been able to handle this issue?

I read about EDL or something like that where someone remotely flash the device unlock the bootloader...

Have there been any solution regarding this?

Is there a paid service centre where this can be done

Dey use the phone like that because unlocking bootloader on Chinese version of xiaomi devices is not possible.

Besides, if you eventually apply updates on the device, the update could trigger it to lock you out and request for previous account associated with it.

The moment I discovered the above, I decided to give up on my decision to update the software of one used Redmi 6 pro (Chinese version), and unlock it's BL.

I don give up.

Yesterday I found an Indian guy on YouTube that teaches current methods to unlock BL but also provides paid service if you want him to do it himself.

There were lots of testimonies of people that did it themselves using the methods. So I contacted him to do for me.

When I joined his channel, I saw a message he posted that Chinese versions can't be unlocked anymore...

Exactly!
In my own case, I researched extensively into the matter, but no solution.
Anyway, it's a secondary phone. My RN13 is serving me wella, with BL already unlocked and better OS installed on it! With that, am sure of getting upgraded up to android 20 or more.

If you're in Lagos, go to Raya stores at CV where Xiaomi customer care is located. They have the original.

I use a redmi note 12. 4G variant and sometimes I just get so annoyed with the way it hangs and delays.
I used a miA3 before and it never gave such issues.
I still have the miA3 but it currently bootloops. When I on it, it just keep rebooting till it runs down. Any idea of what I can do? I have used the miA3 for more than 5 years now

The mi A3 Have you checked if your battery is still good?

The miA3 battery is swollen at the moment. Do you know if I can still get the battery at affordable rate to try if that's the issue?

The RN12 is 4gb + 4gb ram. 128 inbuilt

Your RAM is 4GB don't be deceived by the extended ram marketing gimmick especially on budget to midrange phones.

You should have stuck out your neck for at least the 6GB Ram variant at the time of purchase. Apps are very heavy today and need higher resources to run them.

As for the Mi A3 battery. I honestly don't know about availability

I was able to get this fixed at Ikeja today with 20k
Visited Xiaomi care center and they said it'll be 170k to change board but I got a guy who promised to do it and I will pay only when it works.

Phones in this price range brand new aren't really Camera phones. The camera is just there. 300k is just $200 plus or minus
