there are some people, their phone won't stop ringing even for just a minute, if they don't off it when ever they want to rest, they will definitely die from peoples problems be that oh

A few years ago, if I had put my phone on Do Not Disturb, I might have lost everything in my shop to fire or looters posing as helpers. A friend’s call at 1:30 AM woke me up, and I rushed to the market just in time to save my goods before the fire reached them.

2004 my nephew was vomiting and stooling around 3am. I heard movement in the living and decided to check what was going on. It was my mum running up and down trying to find solution to my nephew worsening condition. She didn't even know that I was around that day. At that time I shuttle between school and house. After explaining the situation to me, I put a call to my doctor friend. He pick and I told him what was happening. He advised us to bring the boy to the hospital immediately. They were already waiting for us when we got to the hospital and admitted him straight. If my doctor friend's phone had been on DND or silence, my nephew would have died that night because with the worsening condition he would have survived till morning.

Me, I am never going to forgive myself for blocking my sister. She tried severaly to reach me and I declined contact with her for about six months, the next call I got was her demise.
I tell myself that if only I had picked her call, she would have lived today. I will carry that guilt to the grave. Now, I am more accommodating and less prone to anger.

I never do this, I will rather have my sleep disturbed than not giving help when someone needs my help. I remembered in 2011, my friend and I in school living in a face me I slap you close to our school and her room was facing mine. On this fateful day, it was early in the night around 10pm, I saw her call, initially I was like why do you have to call instead of bumping into my room like we usually do to each other, sluggishly I picked the call and I realized she couldn't even speak well, oh God I ran into her room and she couldn't even got up, she was just holding tummy. I have to arrange for how she would get to the hospital immediately. Thank God she was treated and left the next morning.

U be mortuary attended? U were sick, and still blaming urself for not adding more sickness to ur original sickness. Who do us dis tin? Would the call have bring back the dead

Come on, people are really insufferable...... they'll take advantage of anything....those who can't reach me can reach my wife.....my phone is usually on flight mode when I want to sleep....

The truth be say, dnd works in a way that after 2 attempt from same caller it will ring out but some people will silent everything and again be person wey hold value, I’m not talking about money now, make your talk be relevant one wey fit clear sleep for person eyes

Dnd is no match for me as i can go ghost mode for a year without my phone , tried it twice in 2020 and 2022. it ended well for me as i detached from unneccessary shmit .

In 2022, my sister had travelled to Aba to get goods and on her way back from Aba, armed robbers had blocked the way around Delta/Edo state and she called me around 11pm, and I kept calming her down and tried to ensure she didn't panic about it and we consistently talked until about 5am when the road cleared and they resumed their journey without their vehicle being robbed.

Since that time, I don't like my phone going off for whatever reason, even when it threatens my healthy sleeping pattern.

I understand your point, you mean your friend would have been alive today had it been your phone wasn't on DND, kudos doctor save a life.

My phone don't ever go off, I don't know when I will receive emergency call.

Am telling you , we really abuse things

If I call you twice and I noticed your line is on DND, I'm not calling again, na to send you message to call me back, if you like call, if you like no call.
I have my phone always on, if you call at odd hours, I ignore and silence the call, wait for you to call again, if you redial, I will call back and tried listen to the urgency of the call, if not urgent, let's talk later or send a message.
Recently, I have been at home for a week due to malaria, spending a chunk of fund treating myself and family, someone got a job for me and called me around 1am, I ignored the call then checked my WhatsApp, I saw his message so I returned the call and we agreed on the job.
I went for the job, got paid and returned home.
Still used about 80% of the fund for meds again, and the rest for groceries.
It was after a week that I've fully recovered that I told the guy how much the job meant for me, he was surprised and happy that he actually thought of calling me first for the job.
Most of those putting phones on perpetual DND are people without any degree of responsibility, they feel they owe no one anything

After my apprenticeship, I got my first contract in the midnight, and that's because my phone was reachable.

You might be wandering, who does business in the midnight.. well turned out this guy gave birth to his fist child in the midnight, the joy made him to call me immediately that "we are starting the work today"

Nope, some won't go through no matter how many times you tried.
On my Nokia 8 then, I can select ring for family members, ring after twice, or no ring at all
The iPhone system seems to be even worse, I think it drops the call, so it will just be showing line busy at the other end

I am sorry, I put my phone on "silent" every night. Nigeria is 6 hrs ahead of where I reside and folks are fond of calling at 2am my time, just to say "hello" to me, as a reminder to send "that thing". I wake up and unable to sleep again, then headache sets in, eventually BP. Na!! I ve stopped that. Let heaven fall, as Wike would say, I don't want to be continually disturbed while asleep. Only the living can do something!

My phone automatically switches off by 11 pm in the night and turn on by 5 am the following morning.

She was making a wrong decision which lead to her death. She was refusing an important surgery for a flimsy reason and I would have been able to talk reason into her as she was not willing to listen to anyone else.
