123jamessmith:that Zimbabwe game am strong thing, since that match he has refused to use his diamond formation during qualifiers, any small lead he’ll swap to a defensive formation to protect lead |

yinkeys:Atubolu isn't that great either, he's good at penalties but he equally concedes funny goals if you watch his game closely, I guess with time he'll improve on certain aspects of his goalkeeping. |

jihday:They need to hire a psychologist for this team to work on their weak mentality. Imagine if we faced Moroco in the nations cup semi finals and we conceeded 2 goals in the first half. Most of the players will just give up and think we lost. The team seems not to believe in itself in any manner. In addition we have a coach who is simply ignorant of tactics and the capability of his players. It is a horrible mixture. |

jihday:Truly, I was also surprised by Ekong celebrating the penalty goal and not running to pick the ball to restart the game immediately. I have listened to him speak severally so I know he possesses good situational awareness, and he definitely knew we needed to score tons of goals to improve our goal difference and chance of qualification so why the exuberant celebration? |

jihday:So if you're Rohr you'd tell your Benin Republic team to come out and play an open game away from home, and increase the risk of losing rather than play conservatively to obtain a draw, or hope to nick a goal when a draw may possibly see your team through depending on the outcome of the SA vs Rwanda game? Make no mistake about it, Benin Republic is coming to pack the bus to frustrate us, and hope to steal a win. It's the safer option. Expect haram ball on Tuesday. |

Can somebody tell me the tactical wizardry that Chelle is deploying to warrant Lookman and Moses Simon on the pitch at the same time? as well as Osihmen and Arokodare playing together at the same time? |

Guys, I don't trust Nwabali one bit. A friend who knows him from his days at Lobi Stars, Benue Makurdi, opined that he gambles. Whenever he is in the starting eleven, he must concede, so fans took note and started placing their bets. Lobi Stars started conceding. The Libyan goalkeeper conceded a cheeky goal against Cape Verde. A clear case of gambling. Looking closely at the Nwabali schoolboy error, it smells of gambling all over it. He should sit on the bench in our last game. I don't trust him one bit. |

Kudos to Zimbabwe for weathering the storm and keeping us in it. Never thought they'd get a favourable result for us against SA but they did it, despite playing with 10 men from the 18th minute. Still, it's advantage South Africa. As a Nigerian, I hope SA falters again on Tuesday and plays another draw or lose, but what are the odds of lightning striking twice in the same place? The match permutations favours SA, and they remain favourites to qualify. Anyhow e be, no person is too big to be held accountable, and have their role in our poor WCQs interrogated. Make I start. William Troost Ekong - I have never really rated him but he went to AFCON 2023 and put in a 2006 World cup Cannavaro-esque performance to emerge MVP. Stellar performance from him then, so I thought he'd fixed the knicks in his game and finally turned the corner but, apparently not so. He's been atrocious this entire WCQs campaign. Refused to stretch out his leg to intercept and mark the Zimbabwean striker in Uyo for fear of causing a penalty. and effectively cost us the 3 points. Also, scored an own goal against SA under no pressure. If we no qualify he should rightly get a lot of flak, and we should begin the closure of his chapter by easing him into a non-starting captain role like Ahmed Musa. Stanley Nwabali - performed well at the AFCON and solved our long standing goalkeeping problem since Carl Ikeme was diagnosed with cancer. But his performances this WCQ have been subpar. He's not made any brave saves that kept is in games and crossed us over the line. Against Benin Republic, the two chances the Beninoise got against him, he conceded. Ditto against Zimbabwe in Uyo. Ditto South Africa (home and away). In addition, he's now making school boy errors, and conceding cheap goals. Also, his attitude and antics are annoying. He's belligerent and aggressive, bpushes opposing players and gets carded unnecessarily, and never accepts responsibility for his wrongdoings. Rather, he'd argue with teammates and want to gaslight everyone that he wasn't at fault. Also, at this point, the allegations of match fixing are not so farfetched cos what the heck was the goal he conceded today, and the error he committed that almost resulted in a goal? It:s time we start looking at other goalkeeping options out there. Finidi George - Poor. Poor. Poor. It was a costly mistake to hire him. Our ONLY defeat in this qualifiers was under him. Returned only one point from a possible 6, an atrocious 16.6% score. Bought into the home-based player hype and tried to introduce domestic quota into the team rather than invite the best performing players which backfired. In contrast, Jose Peseiro drew 2 games and obtained 2 points from a possible 6 to score 33.3%, and Eric Chelle has won 3 and drawn 2 in 5 games. amassing 11 points from a possible 15 to score 73.3%. Whatever the outcome on Tuesday, I hope NFf does not press the self destruct button by sacking Chelle before the AFCON. Unlike others, I support no European. football club. and my only football passion is our national teams, particularly the Super Eagles, so I'll be gutted if we don't qualify. I pray the stars align in our favour, and that will not be the case on Tuesday. 7pm cannot come fast enough for me. |

9JAMac10:You dont know anyrhing .They have +5 goal GD while we have +3. We need a 3-0 to overtake them. Anything less than that we're done. Unless we get lucky to get in the playoffs. |

Spainever:I wonder how we couldn't rack up at least 3 unreplied goals against Lesotho when thats the biggest and easiest opportunity to redeem our GD. Is it against Benin that we want to do that? Chelle must go whether we qualify or not |

Ppogbae:burkina faso must not beat Ethiopia heavily oo, and Madagascar must not shock Mali oo, even Uganda must not shock Algeria oo…then we can beat Benin heavily..that will automatically qualify us for play off |

minfelix:That's not going to happen. As it stands, nothing is in our hands anymore. Employing Chelle was the biggest mistake. That Angola coach was my expectation, or Leroy or that former Zambia coach but Chelle just got the job out of the blue. I was disappointed |

MetalJigsaw:We have to be fair to Chelle. These are high stake games and the time to strategize is short. Chelle has secured 11 out of a possible 15 points. That's massive |

Ppogbae:They have the Best chance to get the 4th play off ticket with a win over Ethiopia. If they beat Ethiopia by 2-0 we must beat Benin by 4-0 and overtake them on goal difference as we will end on same points for play off. This is because we cannot be absolute about Rwanda beating South Africa or holding South Africa to a draw. Also Madagascar are not likely to beat Mali in Mali neither is Uganda likely to beat Algeria in Algeria in the last group games for the playoffs slot. |

| Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by Cocony(m): 7:27am On Oct 11, 2025 |
MetalJigsaw:Not true. If we get a 2-0 lead we get to +5 while Benin finishes on +3, no calculations further as even H2H we will be superior with both teams on 17points. The problem now arises if South Africa defeats Rwanda. That confines Super Eagles effort to the playoffs depending on the outcome of Madagascar, Burkina Faso and Uganda matches which all luckily come before ours. The play off contenders have better goal differences than us hence our best option will be a 4:0 and above margin thrashing of Benin Republic. |
