If true, wouldn't a 3-2 win for Nigeria mean Benin moves to 6 goals scored away, which then ties Benin with Nigeria at 6 goals each and a 4-3 win for Nigeria mean Benin scored 7 goals away, one more than Nigeria and by implication qualify ahead of us.

I think only a 2-1 win works in the scenario you cited.
My bad, you're correct.

Oh dear, Super Eagles don do me something, and brain no fit carry the complex calculations and permutations anymore.

This is correct. So in line with what you said earlier, any scoreline will see us above Benin:
1:0
2:1
3:2
4:3
Not quite. Only 1 - 0 works.

Benin has scored a total of 12 goals.
4 away goals.

Nigeria has scored a total of 11.
6 away goals.

Even 2 - 1 no go do. Only 1 - 0 scoreline works for us in this context.

All the teams in our group are poor. Benin Republic just happens to be the least poor of the lot.

Hmmm 😂
Because he knows their qualification is solely in their own hand. Either win or draw.

A lose, they are probably out or in the playoff.

Nigeria should just focus on winning and leave the rest.

Winning can guarantee us straight qualifications if South Africa draws or loses or play-off if South Africa wins respectively.

I just saw the highlights of the match btw SA and Zimbabwe and i dare say there is ray of hope for Nigeria
Firstly, the southafricans like shooting from distance that most times goes off target or hit the keeper's palms. One time, it struck the post.
Secondly, they like passing the ball to perfection around the 18 yard in order create one on one opportunity which the opponents foils
Thirdly, they lack finishing. All shots goes up into the sky

this kinda tactics from an african team can only produce a draw scoreline, especially if your opponent is sitting deep in defense…if Rwanda comes out to play them…Rwanda go beating

This Rwandan team plays like arsenal. Slick, precision passing. They like playing the ball on the ground. Benin scored cos they were playing highline. I dont think SA will run over them like easily if they can discipline themselves
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2027, 2028 And 2030 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 12:36pm On Oct 11, 2025
Bad idea. We cant afford to give them the psychological edge early in the game. We cant gift them momentum edge by sitting back and allowing them come at us early. 'Wouldn't want to put an underperforming Nwabali and a suspect Ekong under early pressure. They need to grow into the game and settle psychologically.

We can only do this at selected phases in the game later on, hopefully and preferably after we have taken the lead.

Then of course, Rohr knows our quality. If Rohr's Benin tries to play consistently on the front foot, the Nigerian attack will catch them on the break and tear them apart phase after phase and we will score loads of goals. He knows this so he will be cautious.

We have to hit them early and hard. Create choas in their box early and destabilize them mentally. Shake their psychological depth early by hitting them with intensity early, overloading their box, attacking that final third and also keep a solid Rest defence (Ekong, Bassey, Benjamin) behind to mop up any cleared ball by their backline from our incessant attacks.
Then recycle and repeat.

No breathing space.

TheSuperNerd, BankyGee, Mujtahida and other pundits in the house. Are you sure we shouldn't play this game sitting deep and hitting on the counter? We must not concede any goals at all o.

In as much as most of us are interested in "hear me out" thesis, your conclusion/analysis must be sound, complete and accurate.

Get the following clear.
1) There is the direct path to qualification which is solely dependent on 2 factors that avoid unnecessary calculations which are:
a) Beat Benin Republic by a 2:0 MARGIN and b)South Africa fail to get 3points against Rwanda. This is the only direct path devoid of H2H issues, yellow card issues and goal difference issues. Everybody is at rest with these outcomes.
2) If DR Congo wins and Madagascar wins as well tomorrow, there will be no play off
position to fight for.

3)If DR Congo fails to beat Sudan and Madagascar wins, there will be only one play off slot to compete for between Burkina Faso, Uganda and Nigeria
4) If DR Congo wins while Madagascar drops points but Burkina Faso wins with Uganda shocking Algeria, NIGERIA must better the goal MARGIN of Burkina Faso with 2extra goals for safety and playoffs qualification.

5)DR Congo, Madagascar and Burkina Faso games come up tomorrow and are key in deciding our fate not the 1-0 thesis and hear me out most of you are putting up.
Let's be detailed and accurate in our explanations.

Players like Gattuso, CR7, Drogba, Oliseh etc would have broken the head of some players in the dressing room for how rubbish they are...we just lack that temperamental leader in this team aside from Osimhen.
I have a question for you
Osimhen is arguably in the top 5 best strikers in the world conversation right now
Are you in the top 100 conversation in your profession globally ? grin
No wonder that man earns over $1 million monthly grin

I will not like to see Osimhen as captain though, it would affect his performance plus he’s too emotional/passionate
Rasheedat Ajibade became captain & the responsibilities that position entails affected her performance at AFCON
She wasn’t exceptional like she used to be
The captain band is heavy

Tuesday's match against Benin will be bloody. I see a 2:2 draw or 3:2 win for Nigeria. The only problem is South Africa's match against Rwanda. They'll do all they can to win because they're playing at home. Even Moetsepe the President of CAF (who's a South African) may be present in the stadium that day. Wuruwuru go plenty that day. Everything points to a South African victory.

This is why I hate Permutations and Combinations. I don't joke with my peace of mind. grin
South Africa will win that match. Walahi.

omo lets just win Benin well and hopefully find ourselves in the playoffs,
cos this mumu Rwanda i dey fear their carpenter players, this is second time we are needing a favour from Rwanda to help us stop a COSAFA team, they failed us in the first in 2006WCQ
Angola 18pts
Nigeria 18pts
Rwanda plsss help us win or draw Angola, them mumu go lost 0-1 in their own home against Angola, while we needed to beat Zimbabwe wellaa

Some of you are misunderstanding the H2H tie breaker. Most away goals of TEAMS INVOLVED.(Just between Benin and Nigeria. Not all teams in the group)
The case of 1-0 favors Nigeria
The case of 2-1 we are tied on H2H
The case of 3-2 favors Benin because they would have more away goals.

It’s a good idea, Nigeria has no option than to sit back. Not fully back but Rohr/Peseiro style. 1-0 can only be achieved by sitting back. Benin already knows that a goal stacked match is to their favor so they are going to exploit it. Win or lose or draw.

Secondly Benin is playing the game as a must win so they can only defend when they’re ahead.
