Op has gone on sabbatical leave and forget about the thread.

Abeg, any way to get admitted into college of education for nursing? Do they offer visa for that route? And most importantly, for someone with first degree, is it possible to secure? Abeg those with knowledge should chip in please

Hi. I’m sorry for the late response. I got stuck in the politics section grin

Unfortunately I don’t know any US schools that offer international students admission to study nursing. I think it might be because of clinical requirements. As a nursing student, you have access to hospitals and vulnerable populations that can make the student a danger if not properly vetted.

As far as I know, only US citizens and legal residents can get into nursing schools in the US. If that has changed in recent years, I’m unaware of it.

But if you get a nursing degree from Nigeria, you can apply to employment agencies whose job it is to vet you properly and the hospitals trust that they do a good job of the vetting process.

Schools do not usually have the capabilities of doing the depth of vetting hospitals require in order to give you access to their sick patients.

I hope that was helpful.

It was helpful. I guess some dreams do not come true then.

Anyway, we will chase other things in life and do our little best to contribute to the society.

All the best to your endeavour.

Yea but if that’s your dream, you can go to nursing school in Nigeria and apply to come to USA through an agency. It takes time but I know two people in my circle who’ve done it. It’s not impossible. Good luck.

Yeah, the time factor is actually what might not be realistic for me.

I would look towards exploring other alternatives

Following your story.

But....

I have some questions for you?

1) Why didn't you just go for BSC Nursing straight?
Why did you decide to take this route knowing that you will still have to go back to get a Bachelors?

2) How did you become a Green Card Holder?

3) How much was your Tution fee for this Associate in a Community College?
Were you paying per semester or per year?

4) Was it a Full-time program or Partime you did?
Were you also working and schooling?

5) I don't like USA.
Why?
2 of my Uncle's (they are brothers) who lived in USA for over 20 years are suffering today.
How?
One in his Fifty's and the other in his Sixty's fell terribly sick cry
The one in his Fifty's (divorced) was brought back to Nigeria becos he had no health insurance for treatment.
The other is his Sixty's fell sick too cry
Got laid off.
No Health insurance too.
Both are USA Citizens o.

The wife of the one in his Sixty's is currently using her health insurance for him. It's just sad and heart breaking.
We are trying to manage the health of the one currently in Nigeria.

As I dey like this, I don turn to by force CAREGIVER for him. There is no caregiving duty I can't perform. That's why I've picked interest in Nursing. It's not easy mehn. It's tiring and draining.

But USA is not good. This my Uncle brought back due to sickness was a man I watched as a very little boy travel to USA to meet his older brother who worked it for him to go over there.

Infact, because of them I always dreamt of travelling to USA. USA was my childhood dream even till my University days.
Now both of them are battling chronic sickness going to 3 years now.

That dream of me traveling and living in USA has turned to a big nightmare which I dread daily. I fear USA now.

Infact, I hate USA angry
It seems dat D wife wey una wan send go meet ur younger uncle don run abi?...she no help take care of her husband again?

This is totally wrong. Most if not all nursing schools accept international students into
Their Nursing Program and it’s not a new development

Would you be kind enough to provide more information to the person I was responding to? I’m sure they’d appreciate it.

Thank you!!

Thank for the mention. Unfortunately, the immigration rules towards Nigeria had made it impossible to proceed should someone even secure admission.

By the way, I will wait for verifiable schools which admit international students from him.
