If our approach was not a bit conservative, we could not have scored up to four goals past a very desperate Benin. They needed to come out to play.

If we have fought for every ball without being laid back a little. Benin would have been more defensively aware.
They needed only a draw.
That first goal on 3 mins killed them and gave us impetus

Senegal that came back from 2-0 down away in Kinshasa to beat DRC 3-2 and topple them will now bottle vs Mauritania at home today??

Abeg. Read my words. IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. SENEGAL WILL SMASH THEM.

minfelix:
Guys wait ooo😂😂
Senegal 21pts
DRC 19pts

what if senegal loses and Drc win, wont that make senegal second and further pushing aside Nigeria?🤣🤣🤣 abeg n question i ask ooo

Getting the results and playing exceptionally well are two different things
We got the results but Benin was poor today
I don’t like when football fans use this statement.
The winning team made the other team appear poor. If Nigeria played rubbish, you won’t say benin was poor, it will be Benin was fantastic. The better team won because it made the opposing team poor.

I am wondering why these guys Fredrick and Akor Adams were never invited before the last two matches ? I believe inviting wrong players cost us automatic qualification. Moreso the draw against Zimbabwe cost the ticket .. however thanks 🙏 to Eitrea who withdrew

Lol, not really. Competing in the playoffs will always remind everyone of the details and you can't state the details without remembering that we finished on the same points with Benin. Try another thing cheesy grin

Let me be completely honest..
I actually prefer us going through the play off route..
This team needs more games to gel
And we have finally developed some chemistry even though our performance can be disjointed at times
We have momentum and a winning mentality is setting in

I want to see us play more games
Correct.

Looking at the CAF and Interconfederations playoffs, 3 wins will take us to the WC. The two CAF playoff matches will be good preparation for AFCON and the interconfederations playoffs will allow us the opportunity to play a different nation from a different confederation prior to the WC.

This result was the best possible one we could have had. Because now, WC qualification is back in our hands.

Who still believes that Nigeria can qualify for the FIFA World Cup?

It is written in the stars ...

Via Automatic Qualification or play-off.
Nigeria will qualify for the FIFA World Cup
We will win AFCON
Do well at the World Cup
Lots of talents will emerge
We will experience a resurgence in football.

I think we're being unfair to Lookman
I actually think he would have done better than Simon did in the first half..

Those crosses Simon misplaced, Lookman would have done better
Would he have made the crosses?

That's another angle to look at.

Nigeria has qualified

May we pray Senegal no mess up ooo.

However, they actually need the win badly.

I don't think they want to play in playoffs.

I see your point, but can you in all honesty say we played exceptionally well?
We had good moments, yes
But we didn't control the game
Benin always looked like they would score anytime
We still need to fix our midfield
We should be controlling games and smashing opponents

As it stands, Nigeria will be playing Gabon
It is not confirmed yet. The outcome of DR Congo game is a factor first followed by October 2025 FIFA RANKINGS which will determine who plays who.
That is the correct basis for the playoffs from CAF perspective.
From the look of things if we hopefully qualify from the CAF ZONE, the main threats will be the Asian and South American
Representatives.

I'm not being unfair.

I'm just stating what I saw
LOOKMAN is a good player, but today in his absence we played better

There Was no much hanging unto the ball for long and releasing some passes a little bit late.

Lookman is good but he has been rusty lately but it doesn't mean he wouldn't get better.

Cocony:
I am very much around Queenjazz. I must state an obvious observation with the moderators of this Sports section: LEARN TO CENSOR WRONG INFORMATION AND NOT SOMEONE THAT STATED WHAT IS RIGHT. SECONDLY , DO NOT GIVE THE IMPRESSION THAT THERE SEEMS TO BE A PREFERENCE FOR A PARTICULAR SET OR TRIBE TO BE HEARD MAKING CORRECT ANALYSIS
THIRDLY, KNOW THAT TWITTER IS AVAILABLE. AND AN ABOUT TO BE LAUNCHED SOCIAL MEDIA APP CALLED IN NIGERIA SO BE HONEST IN YOUR ACTIVITIES AS MODERATORS(AS I TRIED TO UNDERSTAND YOUR SHAMELESS RATIONALE FOR PUTTING SOME
MINUTES BAN ON ME.)

Hmm.. Nwabali still found a way to show himself today..
We still need keeper oh
Nwabali's issue has to do with his attitude and not his skill.
Dude has sharp reflexes.

Bad attitudes can be corrected.

We all have to bear in mind that the game is even more psychological than anything.
Nwabali should not tolerate any bad behaviour around his yard.
He should caution any cautionable, the opposition should not be free to behave as they seem fit around him.
He needs to provoke and frustrate them when possible.

The game is not as clean as you think
