Reanzi:Are you sure that PhD students are exempt from writing IELTS for visa application? |

Ikechukwu09:Please how did you get the affidavit for land ownership? Was only the affidavit enough or one still need to show prove of ownership in the form of receipt or further documents? Did you later write the IELTS or it was not required as a PhD student? |

FoluSparkleBug:“A minimum of AUD$69k held for at least three months in the account.” This is one of the Conditions for me to get my COE and I’m confused as to if my statement is to have a closing balance of that amount or i have to hold $69k in my account for three months which is ridiculous. So please you or anyone should help me understand if you had to hold it for that long or just had to have a closing balance of that amount, thank you and congratulations once more. |

LudaChriz:Hello LudaChriz, I may be able to help with this question. I do not know much about MSc by coursework applicants, but for MSc by research and PhD applicants, the DHA use whatever "proof of English" the University accepts to offer you admission. So, technically, you can be exempted from providing IELTS, PTE, etc, if the University doesn't request it from you. For example, University of Sydney lists Nigeria as an English speaking country, which means of you are a Nigerian, studied in Nigeria, or have lived in Nigeria for up to ten years, you are considered an English speaker and need not provide a "proof of English" (https://www.sydney.edu.au/study/applying/how-to-apply/international-students/english-language-requirements.html). And this doesn't matter if you are applying for Masters or PhD. I hope I'm a bit clear with the explanation. Cheers! |

FoluSparkleBug:What are the chances of getting approval if one is going with a dependent at this age? |
| Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by Kdamilola(m): 10:42am On Oct 06, 2025 |
LudaChriz:Hello Ludachriz, Your passport expiry only has to have a minimum of 6 months left according to DHA. So, an almost 3 year expiry is very much ok for Australian PhD student visa application. Mine only had a year+ left when I applied in January 2024 and it was approved. So, no worries! |

I applied for Charles sturt to study agric and I got this response from them. Please what do you think is the problem. I don’t have an ielt, I work with idp agent for the MSc admission. Please which agency is swift, seems like IDP is very slow. Is it still possible to secure an admission and a study visa for feb/march session if I should start reapplying from today

Hi all. Please I’m asking on behalf of my brother who is looking to move to Australia next year. A little background: He will be 34 years old November 29, Bsc Public admin with 4.3 CGPA, MSc History and international studies to be completed first quarter 2026. He is currently a junior lecturer in the same university where he is doing his masters. We want him to move to Australia hopefully next year to further his education and we’d need advice and guidance from everyone please. He is passionate about teaching so definitely something in education. Another MSc? Phd? Affordable schools? Scholarships? A head start towards the right pathway would be very appreciated. Thank you |
| Re: General Australian Student Visa Enquiries Part 3 by LudaChriz(m): 6:24pm On Nov 05, 2025 |
nikkygirl:Does he have publications? If yes, let him go for PhD or Master by Research. He should develop a proposal and start contacting supervisors from different schools. Scholarships are available if he has a good research background. Otherwise, go for another master's and be ready to self fund |

Munayh:Your agent should have informed you that IELTS is mandatory. Even if a school accepts you without IELTS, Home Affairs will not grant your visa without it. I would suggest that you take the IELTS and then apply again. Perhaps plan realistically for May or June, although I have heard of visa grants being issued within a month or two recently. Please don’t apply to just any course—do your research, show genuine interest, and demonstrate a logical career progression. Also, plan ahead for what happens after your studies. If you don’t prefer IDP, you might try AECC Global, but to be honest, agents have a lot on their plate, so you will need to follow up a lot. You can make their life easier by preparing all the documents ahead. Good luck! |
