Gospel singer Tope Alabi has opened up on her difficult journey to marriage, revealing how four men “stylishly left” her after seeking spiritual advice about their relationship.

In a heartfelt video shared on Instagram, the 55-year-old singer recounted how, as a young woman ready for marriage, things always took a strange turn each time she brought a man close to meeting her parents.

“When I became an adult and it was getting to a stage that I needed to take men to meet my parents, something strange always came up. The men would just say they needed to go and pray about it and afterward, they would stop reaching out to me,” Alabi said.

She said the rejection usually came with spiritual undertones. On one occasion, she learned that a suitor had visited prophets who allegedly warned him against marrying her.

“One of our intermediaries once told me that one of the men had gone to meet prophets who told him I was not okay to be married to,” she said. “I can count like four men that stylishly left me. Would you then tell me not to thank God whenever I remember that?”

Alabi added that she eventually met the man who would become her husband through her boss at work. But even that encounter came with its own twist.

“The man promised to marry me, but I told him that’s what all men say. I told him to go and ask about me,” she recalled. “After he told my parents he would come for proper introduction, we stopped seeing each other. My father had already given out my hand in marriage to another suitor before he travelled.”


The gospel singer, who was previously married to Lekan Olaoye, with whom she had a daughter, Ayomikun is now married to Soji Alabi, her longtime producer and manager. The couple share three children.

Tope’s story, she said, is a testimony that God’s timing never fails.

“When I look back, I just thank God for how everything turned out. It was not easy, but it was worth it,” she concluded.

She has had two husbands who are both alive. Is that biblical? On what ground did she leave the first and marry the second.. Isn't that adultery for a woman according to both old and new testament?

Those men may actually be incompatible with her spiritually. Let me save stories for next time.

Prophets are something else. They can’t see the actual future, only the present circumstances around a person, and they make instant judgments based on that.

Here is my personal life experience with prophet:

Some years back, I was friends with two ladies.

Lady A: I loved her a lot. She was outspoken and very intelligent, but gave off the “I don’t cook, I don’t clean” vibe. She was also flirty and had many guys around her.

Lady B: The complete opposite. I didn’t really like her, not very brilliant, but she had good character. She bought me things, cooked, and did all the “wife material” stuff. Very decent, no side guys, very religious.

My mom took both ladies’ names to some prophets on my behalf. These prophets chose Lady B, saying Lady A wasn’t wife material and was promiscuous, which at the time was true.

Three years later, Lady A finished school and was ready to settle down. She stopped flirting, started cooking and cleaning, and was still in my life. Meanwhile, Lady B was fed up with me since I never really reciprocated her love, and she was already seeing someone else.

Again, my mom took both names to the same prophets (who had forgotten they were the same people as before). This time, the prophet chose Lady A, saying she would give me all the joy I wanted in marriage and that Lady B wasn’t good for me.

In the end, I didn’t marry either of them, I only saw it all as an experiment. The truth is, prophets can only see your current situation, not your future. Your future is in your hands, and change is the only constant in life.

So that means that 4 men have all tasted the pussy before this simple man came onboard
