On the world stage, Morocco has a pattern of play which I also watched their Latest U17 side use to conquer Africa at the last U17 Afcon vs Mali in the final earlier this year.

Morocco plays ultra defensive football and hit on the counter with fast outlets(Fast wingers, speedy ball carriers, etc). This is their pattern on the world stage for all their men's football sides.

They used it in Qatar 2022 and reached the semis.

They used it at U17 Afcon 2025 and won it vs a better Malian side.

They are using it at the U20 WC 2025 and are in the final.

This is the pattern they have adapted for their national teams at the world stage and it will be on display again by them at the U17 World Cup and ofcos at next year's 2026 WC.

Will Morocco employ this at the Afcon? Only against the top sides. They will utterly run riot on teams perceived to be smaller than them in quality. But time will tell.

Joebie:
I'm sure they will disappoint (not win it) again at the AFCON. But that WC, dem go play like say they believe they can win it. And when you look at their football development , you see the connection. Until we start taking some things very seriously we will keep failing at the world stage.

Playoff spot. We. Need Sudan to somehow hold DRC

That's as long as we win this game 1-0 or by more than two goals, and Uganda vs Algeria stays like this or Algeria win or draw.

The thing be like Carnot cycle for Physical Chemistry.
Omo as at when I ask this question, I neva know of CAF update. I think say we don go house if SA win

Nerdy, I go lie for you? grin

I think Nigeria has this pull and it's become attractive to identify with Nigeria these days so I'm not really surprised.

Of course, playing for Nigeria na another thing entirely.
If we Nigerians can reduce the way we disgrace ourselves out there, especially on social media, more will come out to identify with us. Our sportsmen and entertainers are giving us a great boost to our image and reputation out there. Gone are the days when Nigerians in the diaspora claim to be Caribbean to avoid identifying as Nigerians. It's a new day for us on the global stage!

Osimhen and his Shoutout to the rest of team, one by one

Victor Osimhen keeps showing why he is the true leader of this team, The Super Eagles. He is this generation's leader on the pitch and obviously the biggest voice in our dressing room.

By the way, how far with Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham.

When last did England invite them? Are they even in the camping roster for their world cup preparations?

And to think that both would have been mainstays in the Super Eagles if they'd decided to represent us. It's a pity.

realpoacher:
The nerd,

I am not going overboard with my Praise of Chukwueze... My accolades on him is based on extensive analysis of his game play since 2015 U-17s.

De nerd, you know what I am saying. Look at him with your trained eyes. Chukwueze has mastered the art of playing 3 solid positions on the field. He started with 11 at the U-17s to Villarreal and even his early days in the SE. Later switched to 7 and inverted RW. Now Chelle mistakenly played him as a 10 against Jamaica and he shoned like he was born for that role.

His wing play either as a LW or RW can be erratic but I promise you, his midfield role will not be the same.

You people forget that Chukwueze has more Assist in that Team than any other players, yet he played less than most of them.

He has been giving Osimehn assist back to back. He was the one who assisted Osimehn with the second goal away to Rwanda.

Playing him as a 10 with a free role means that he can be seen anywhere on the pitch and he will do well with the ball, LW, RW, AM, CM etc just name it, he will always wiggle his way out.

In the process, the issue about his on & off performance won't even arise.

If you are making Iwobi sit deep with Ndidi, then by all means allow Chukwueze sit and roam just ahead of them.

Another person Chelle is not utilizing is Uche, Second half, Uche can come in for either Iwobi or Chukwueze. Having a versatile player like Uche is always a blessing most coaches pray for, someone that can play DM, CM and AM comfortably is who you are rooting to the bench.

This squad is more than capable of putting aside all teams in the playoffs including Cameroon, Bolivia or Costa Rica. It doesn't matter who we meet.

We have been given a lifeline here, let's not blow it.

Let them approach this playoff as our own World Cup before the main world Cup. Whatever display we are hoping to do at America should start from the playoffs.
Quite insightful and I must say that many people here show great understanding of the tactical demands of modern football.

Having said that, I was first enthused by your statement in the bolded portion above but on second thought, this might prove to costly as the defensive burden will be on Ndidi alone. On the flip side, our defensive onslaught coming from Chuks sitting in front of the attackers and even Iwobi from deep makes me salivate but it depends on the kind of opposition we facing.

Exactly. It will be too routine. The romance that gave flair to mission X will not follow mission XI if we win it next year. We need to be starved a little.

It seems Onyedika, FDB, Osayi and Okoye would be the only players to come back to the team from the list that didn't partake in this window.

We need a right back so that Fredrick can move back to partner Bassey in the CB. I don't trust Osayi, neither do I trust Ekong anymore.

Agu and Aina are out till next year.

How can you claim Moffi is more reliable than Awoniyi with 4 goals in 799 minutes after 19 matches?

Awoniyi on the other hand played 426 minutes and had 2 goals in 10 matches. Do that stats look like Moffi is more reliable than Awoniyi?

You are also wrong about Awoniyi being on the same level with Boniface andOnuachu

Boniface with 655 minutes in 13 caps score only 1 goal. How does that look same?

Onuachu own worst pass. Only 3 goals in 25 matches with 797 minutes. How are they the same?

Simmy didn't get more chances though.
It's not always about numbers. There's something more. Maybe I should call it ginger plus luck. Boniface, Onuachu, Sadiq lacked it. You know even if you give them days to play for the team, dem no go score like that.

On the other hand, some players just have this air of danger around them. Even if they don't score, you can sense it that it's coming.

What do you think about Awaziem being invited at least to cover RB?

He was decent in that position at the 2019 AFCON admittedly that was a long time ago.

I hear Olisa Ndah is back to fitness but the coaching crew might not want to take a risk on him.

The formation helped though. JP's counter attacking defensive approach was suitable for Frank.

Not sure our current attacking style that places a lot of defensive burden on the DM will suit Onyeka.

If only we had prime Onazi or Etebo.

I don't rate Awaziem highly but you are right, he can be a cover in that position. I have even totally forgotten about that one.

BTW, I suspect he was the player that was alleged to have rejected an invite because he was angry that he wasn't featured against Rwanda and SA.
