Oh wow, nice to see that we've reclaimed the 5th position.

Although I'm curious which international matches caused Ivory Coast to fall back.
No qualified team outside top 14.
Cape Verde has done enough to merit the rise.

Omo as I see 1 hour plus, I first fear 😂

I click play and I watched till they finished talking about Nigeria and started talking about club football.

Omo, really interesting podcast, this is like the first time I'm actually listening to Sunday Oliseh in a full podcast and not clips. I like the man's wits sha. Everything he said in this video was on point and I know we'll qualify for the World Cup.

in the last 5-6-7-8yrs any african team we beat suddenly become our enemy on social media and they start to heavily beef us and wish for the our downfall
SA
Ghana
Cameroon
Zambia
CIV(started during afcon group stage)
Morocco(wafcon effect)
Bfaso(playoff saga)
Lesotho
Zimbabwe
Angola(during afcon)
even tiny Benin don dey dey wish us bad…

But i observe if these teams face each other and beat themselves they dont hold that grudge/beef for long…like this now eehn all of them just gang up now dey hate anything Nigeria all over social media….wetin dey sup na….
Anyways i will blame super eagles generation from 2015 till date that has given most of these teams a head lifter that we are beatable hence whenever we beat them it pains them like we are not suppose to beat them…
We Nigerians are the problem castigating our nation so badly on social media and singing more praises of other countries who can’t lace our boots so the world out there thinks we are a finished country with scammers and bad governance in terms of leadership in short they think we are like Somalia or any war torn nation so when they see us do well in sports they are kind of shocked and wonder where the magic is from. See that Benin guy cursing osihmen as he can’t believe that after we struggled to beat Lesotho we came out to hammer his country 4-0.

We too need to stop overrating these countries over Nigeria and give the impression they are better when indeed they are not. Even Ghana in recent times has not done better than Nigeria a country who last won Afcon in 1980 or so. I even see some people here hyping South Africa and tomorrow if we hammer them then the hating will start again. Even CIV despite winning us in Afcon are not head and shoulders over us. Only Senegal and Egypt(which we can still beat) I can say are ahead. A country producing two APOTYs in a row is still a powerhouse even if the team flounders at times.

Then we can say Bassey was right to scold Nwabali. They need to communicate on the pitch and point out to any player playing no.nsens3.

I also agree with him on benching Ekong for the next game.

He made many points but that one qey him say he believes Nigerians should be coaching the team...mbanu. I no gree Dat one. Except if the Nigerian coach is doing well in a foreign club.

Don’t mind him as if na Nigerians coach them as players to reach the level they got to. Very selfish and unserious people.

Pundits in the house,

What's the deal with Gift Orban and why does he keep getting ignored? That dude is swift, skillful and pacey. What gives?

It honestly bothers (and annoys) me the amount of untapped potential and depth we have in the squad, and yet we keep relying on the same players over and over - sometimes to diminishing returns like in the case of Troost-Ekong

We need planB . Thank God for Adams. But super eagles is screaming Orban and Ejuke...
Bitter Truth is Osimhen might not be always available.

I will struggle to comprehend a super eagles squad without Benjamin Fredrick cool

Since when did anyone leave a huge responsibility in the hands of a 20 year old? What a discovery! Osayi sorry

Im patiently wait on Agu to show our left backs how it's done .

Samuel Chukwueze did the AM in the first half but most people don't know. Thanks to Eric Chelle

Exactly my thoughts. The problem with the SE sometimes is that when they find a style that clicks, they abuse it till it gets painfully predictable. No plan B. That's how South Africa and Ivory Coast clocked us at the last AFCON and put us on the back foot. We managed to beat SA but we all know how the story ended.

If anything should happen to Osimhen, we're screwed. Not saying the rest are unreliable, but now is the perfect time for Chelle to brainstorm contingencies to avoid getting figured out in the playoffs.

Another thing we need to watch out for is fatigue. I don't know how the Gabon game is going to be, but if we can, we need to try and get the game done and dusted under 90 mins. Going to extra time and/or penalties might put us at a disadvantage against our opponents going into the second game just 3 days later, especially if the DRC vs Cameroon fixture ends in normal game time. The winner of that match will be better rested, and that should count for something. If we must play penalties, let it be in the second game.

Summary
JP's team only clicked fully during AFCON when he switched to 3-5-2 formation which suited his personnel at that time.

Finidi had no business coaching the SE. If NFF acted swiftly after AFCON to appoint someone better suited, we should be celebrating qualification now not playoffs.

Honestly, CAF was right. Africa has at least 9 teams that can go to the WC and do well.

If you look at past WCQ from CAF, you’ll see some groups with Nigeria, Cameroon and Algeria.

Three of those nations alone are reputable countries for the WC.

Only Nigeria and Cameroon missed out on automatic qualification, and one of them could still make the WC.

In a perfect world in CAFs mind. The 10 countries to rep CAF at the WC:

Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Senegal, CIV, Morocco for auto qualification.

Then either B. Faso, SA, DRC or Mali as the playoff rep.

You want your strongest nations to represent you.
All the power houses from North Africa are going: Morocco, Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria

West Africa: NIGERIA (yes oo, we dey go!) Ghana, Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire

Lol. I just watched it this morning sef. A lot of interesting insight in here. I know people love to pile on and castigate the 94 set, but if there's anyone among that set that I still regard to a tiny little extent, it's Oliseh. Mostly because he's articulate and knows how to make solid arguments.

Like they said, we shouldn't be celebrating the playoffs like it's a World Cup ticket. But given how abysmally we started the campaign, and our standings before the SA points deduction and Eritrea factor, it's a huge miracle that we're still competing for a spot at the mundial.

Also, I agree with his argument that the defense needs to be more tightened and disciplined.
He said that we should be pragmatic. Win by low margins.

If you mean that he should be there on the bench, no wahala. I no argue that one. It's even good because he can assist if things get into penalty shootouts.

But starting on the pitch, make Dem no even think am. He can be giving motivation from the sidelines abeg.

We don enter knockout format. We have to be at the very top of our defensive game.

Same goes for Egypt.

The African teams that consistently perform on the global stage when it comes to senior men's football: Morocco, Algeria, Cameroon, Nigeria, Ghana and Senegal.

No matter how rubbish these 6 teams are at the continental level, when they get to the global stage, they must always shine. Also, these are the only African teams so far that have pulled major upsets at the World Cup.

Tunisia hardly have a stand out player cos at the World Cup that’s where you need your star player to win you games.
