After Medical school, I moved back in with my parents. Lived with them for 7 more years until I was almost 30 years.

Didn’t buy a car. Worked several jobs, sometimes 2 at the same time. During this time, no job ever paid me up to ₦185,000 a month — 7 years o.
Saved enough to write exams & move to the UK. 6 months salary in the UK was more than all my 7 years salary in Nigeria combined.

Many can’t even live that life. It’s a party after party champagne campaign in Nigeria with the lowest we earn. We build houses to taste and own outrightly. We not chased by banks.

I once visited a general Hospital, and I saw people sleeping outside on tents, no power. Only 1 doctor attending to over 18 patients in a ward. 18m plus is for student visa. Professionals like doctors, auditors, tech nurses etc are going on work visa. They are not spending up to that abeg. And not everyone comes from poor families, people also borrow from friends, some employers also pay for relocation expenses etc

Thank God I've never visited any hospital for medical attention in my entire life, but if I would have to now, I'd need to test the doctor's intelligence first.


This dude is prolly poor at Economics. You don't flatly compare earnings in diff countries with diff currencies, you consider purchasing power, tax and other factors that can influence potential savings at the end of each month/year

They want to become millionaires because they are doctors without factoring the fact that they come from a poor country.

How do you expect hospitals in Nigeria to pay you uk or us salary rate when they themselves don't make up to 10m naira every month

You want to be paid proper salaries but the company you are working for does not even earn enough to run their facilities

Nobody even asks how much they use to get education over here. There should be a temporary ban on medical professionals leaving the country. You can't get subsidized education and go on to insult the same country by going to where they spend over 1000% on the same education to work.
