There was drama at the Area Court Centre, Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State, on Wednesday, when a woman, identified as Mulikat Yusuf, fainted after her husband, Ishaq Abdulganiyu, rejected her plea for reconciliation and insisted on divorce.

The incident occurred during proceedings before Judge Toyin Aluko, where Abdulganiyu told the court that he was no longer interested in remaining married to his wife.

In a tearful plea, Mulikat begged the court to intervene, saying she was unwilling to accept a divorce. “My Lord, please help me talk to him,” she cried. “I have nowhere to go. I have given birth to six children for him, and I still want the marriage to work.” Her plea, however, failed to move her husband, who insisted on proceeding with the separation. Moments later, the distraught woman left the courtroom in tears but suddenly slumped outside, causing panic among onlookers.

Sympathisers quickly rushed to her aid and revived her by pouring water on her face she regained consciousness after a few minutes and was assisted to a bench to rest.

Presiding Judge Toyin Aluko advised the woman to make every effort to reconcile with her husband and resolve their differences amicably.

The case was adjourned till December 10, 2025, for a report on reconciliation or continuation of the hearing.

A man identified as Ishaq Abdulganiyu told the court he could no longer continue with his marriage to Mulikat Yusuf, citing constant disagreements that had made their relationship unbearable.

Appearing calm but firm, Abdulganiyu said several attempts to settle their issues had failed. “I just want peace of mind,” he told the judge.
His statement, however, broke his wife down in tears. Mulikat begged the court to intervene, saying she still wanted the marriage and had nowhere to go after raising six children with her husband.

But despite her pleas, Abdulganiyu stood his ground — insisting the marriage was over.
Moments after the session ended, drama unfolded outside the courtroom when Mulikat suddenly collapsed.

Witnesses said she fainted just after stepping out of the court, sending people into a panic. Court officials and sympathisers rushed to revive her by sprinkling water on her face, and after a few tense minutes, she regained consciousness.

Nonsense! They are constantly having disagreements, meaning those kids are literally being subjected to all that toxicity living under the same roof as the two.

Their divorce should be granted abeg, and the man should either take full custody of the children, at least until the woman is able to secure herself a place and money, or he should be given shared/joint custody — each has the children two weeks out of each month — and they can each shoulder raising the kids that way.
