I'm in a dilemna because on a non-challant AC technician. Some honth back, I took my 2005 EOD for Airconditioning repairs. Ever since then, it has been leaking engine oil. I've taken it to 3 different mechanics. They would do their thing and say it has been fixed.........but it keeps leaking. I'm frustrated.

What correlation does an AC repair have to do with engine oil leaks? Pls, make me understand, cos I sincerely don't understand.

I'm as baffled as you are Sir. However, the leakage started after that repair. The car also stayed overnight at their workshop.

Good day, sorry about what you’re facing. Truth is, some mechanics just keep “using people’s head.” They collect money for one thing, and when the issue comes back, they push another big bill without proper checks.

At Ryan Automotive Limited, we don’t work like that. Before saying it’s your crankshaft or oil pump, the first step is always a thorough inspection and computerized diagnosis — note that this service is paid for, because it saves you from unnecessary trial-and-error repairs.

From our experience, when an engine starts knocking after crankshaft work, it usually means:
• The previous repair wasn’t done well,
• Substandard parts were used, or
• The engine itself is already too weak.

In many cases, it’s wiser to go for a complete engine replacement instead of pouring money into endless repairs. Why? Because of the poor quality parts in circulation and the stress of repeat failures. A good replacement gives you more reliability, better performance, and peace of mind.

At Ryan Automotive Limited, we can assist you with:
🔧 Paid inspection & computerized diagnosis.
🔧 Honest report on whether to repair or replace.
🔧 Sourcing quality engines and ensuring proper installation.

Get a technician to check if wiring to the solenoid is having continuity, if the socket pins are okay or not.

Both choices are great choices, however, I'd easily pick the highlander cos of its space and utility.
The camey looks extremely bland and boring in my opinion.

Pls,

I recently bought a 2006 Honda Civic, and one of the first things I noticed is that the fan is connected directly. My scan result also shows two codes — P2413 and P2185. I usually scan my car and tell my mechanic what to fix based on the codes generated, and that approach has been working for me.

Now, he agrees with me on the first code, which relates to the EGR, but he doesn’t want to return the fan to its factory setting. I’d rather have that done elsewhere.

I need a good mechanic around the Ogba/Abule Egba axis who can sort this out for me. I don’t want to argue with this Azeem. I understand gassuz doesn’t like working on this car.

The fuel consumption is high. I used 17 litres of fuel from challenge ibadan to abule Egba, and my calculation is around 17mpg

I have a 2006 Toyota Corolla that vibrates under load, such as when overtaking or climbing hills. The entire car shakes during this condition.

Wheel balancing has been done, and the tyres and rims have all been checked and confirmed okay. The MAF sensor reading is low, around 0.25 lb/min at idle, which is below the ideal range of 0.6 lb/min or higher.

The RPM sometimes dips, and the engine almost shuts down before recovering.

The following parts have already been replaced or serviced:

MAF sensor

Throttle body (cleaned)

Ignition coils

Spark plugs

Fuel pump

Engine mounts

What could be the possible solution?

Hello my engineers.

I have been hearing torque converter here and there. My question is. When it’s bad, is it repairable or changeable?

If so, how expensive can it be and does the gear box needs to be removed too?

Thank you

If your torque converter is bad, it should be replaced.
The transmission needs to be removed for such works.
The price of torque converter depends on the car, model, state of the torque converter (new or used), and location of purchase.

Hi there,

It sounds like your 2006 Toyota Corolla is experiencing vibrations under load due to possible issues beyond wheel balance and basic maintenance. Given that you’ve already replaced the MAF sensor, spark plugs, ignition coils, fuel pump, and serviced engine mounts and throttle body, the problem could be related to:
• Vacuum or intake leaks causing low MAF readings
• Fuel delivery inconsistencies like clogged injectors
• ECU or sensor misreads (O2 sensor, throttle position)
• Drivetrain issues (CV joints, transmission mounts)
• Engine mechanical concerns (uneven compression under load)

For a precise diagnosis and solution, we recommend a full vehicle inspection and computerized scanning to pinpoint the exact cause and prevent further damage.

I have this Rav4 2004.
Of recent I noticed that when the engine is cold, like in the morning or after parking it for a long time, the gears select normally without issues. However, once the engine gets hot, it jerks when selecting gear. The reverse gear is worse; the whole engine would shake as if the engine mounts are broken.
My mechanic says it is brainbox related issues I need to replace the brainbox.
Could it really be the brainbox is bad or something else could cause the same symptoms?

Replace or repair the ECM, these cars had an ECM issue that overtime affects the ECM

Good afternoon everyone
I recently did some tunings on EOD 2003 2.4l / 4 plugs
Mpg has improved though

I bought 7800 naira fuel @ 910 per litre and I have covered 30 miles so far and I'm sure fuel go finish soon cause the amber light is on since . Is this encouraging or poor.

I do city driving , not much traffic though and ac was on on one or two occasions.

thanks for explaining that clearly — you gave a solid description.
Let’s break it down from a diagnostic perspective, Toyota-style.

🔍 1️⃣ The Real Issue: Heat-Related Transmission Behavior

When your RAV4 2004 shifts smoothly while cold but jerks or shakes when hot — especially in Reverse — that’s a classic thermal transmission issue, not immediately a “brainbox” fault.

Here’s what usually causes it:
🔹 Transmission fluid breakdown — when hot, the viscosity drops and internal pressure drops too.
🔹 Dirty or clogged shift solenoids — heat expands debris or varnish buildup inside the valve body.
🔹 Worn engine or transmission mounts — they transmit vibration under load (reverse amplifies it).
🔹 Low or burnt ATF — the fluid can’t build enough hydraulic pressure when hot.
🔹 ECU/TCM adaptive confusion — sometimes caused by old fluid, bad sensor inputs, or erratic solenoids.

A failing brainbox (ECU/TCM) is possible, but it’s rare — most times it’s secondary to other mechanical or hydraulic faults.

🔧 2️⃣ What You Should Do Next

✅ Check ATF level and color — if dark or smells burnt, do a full transmission fluid flush (with the right Toyota ATF Type T-IV).
✅ Inspect mounts carefully — sometimes only one mount collapses under torque.
✅ Run a live data scan when the engine is hot — focus on gear pressure solenoids, RPM drop in reverse, and shift timing.
✅ If solenoids are sticking, a valve body service or ATF treatment can restore pressure balance.

Only after confirming these should anyone suspect the brainbox — otherwise, you might waste money replacing a working ECU.

⚙️ Our Professional Take

At Ryan Automotive Workshop, we handle RAV4 transmission cases like this regularly.
Our process is simple:
1️⃣ Full hot/cold transmission diagnostics,
2️⃣ ATF pressure and temperature monitoring,
3️⃣ Mount and solenoid evaluation.

That tells the real story before replacing anything costly.

thanks for sharing that — you actually described the symptoms very clearly. Let’s break it down Lexus-style so you can understand exactly what’s going on.

🔍 1️⃣ The Real Issue: Transmission Pressure Loss When Cold

When your Lexus ES350 only selects gears 1 and 2 when cold, but refuses reverse or higher gears until it warms up — that’s a classic hydraulic pressure and clutch-pack issue inside the transmission.

Here’s what’s likely happening:
🔹 The internal fiber clutch discs are worn or slipping.
🔹 When the ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) is cold, it’s thicker — pressure builds slowly and can’t engage the worn clutches properly.
🔹 Once it warms up, it thins out, letting the valves operate more freely, but the worn clutch surfaces still can’t hold well, so it slips or revs high after gear 2.

So yes — the symptom does point toward worn fibers or valve body pressure loss, not the “brainbox.”

🔧 2️⃣ What You Should Do

Before rushing to repair:
✅ Scan the transmission system with a proper diagnostic tool — to check for solenoid or pressure control codes.
✅ Check the ATF color and smell — if it’s dark brown or smells burnt, the internal clutches are already damaged.
✅ Inspect for fluid leaks and ensure it’s not overfilled or underfilled (both can cause poor shifting).

If the fibers are truly worn, a rebuild can work — but as we often warn:

⚠️ In Nigeria, transmission rebuild success rates are low due to poor-quality friction plates, used solenoids, and wrong ATF usage.

So, for a Lexus ES350, the most reliable option is usually a Tokunbo OEM gearbox replacement, flushed and installed with new ATF WS fluid and adaptation reset.

⚙️ Our Professional Take

At Ryan Automotive Workshop, we see this on ES350 and Camry models often. We always:
🔸 Run a full TCM diagnostic scan
🔸 Test line pressure and solenoid response
🔸 Advise either a professional rebuild (with verified parts) or a direct replacement if the internals are too worn

That’s how we ensure long-term reliability instead of short-term fixes.
