Done already in Nigeria ages ago, why do you think the cost is going down ?
Which cost is going down & what d names of d lithium batteries companies bc one coy will not have significant effect on price.

So, Ghana dey use solar? I think sey dem get light Na grin
You hardly see solar in Ghana, only in some institutions like banks, churches etc for emergency, same with generators

I'm sure you have heard or seen these names somewhere but you never thought its 9ja made.
I can go on and on, these are companies I have got to do work for in the past. So don't you go underestimating your country my friend, we are trying.

Solar panels can't do without batteries and inverters
Batteries and inverters can do without solar panels
Nigeria does not manufacture silicon wafers as I expect you know
grid scale solar farms do not need batteries, besides there are other storage methods like pumped hydro, thermal storage etc at the utility level

We're talking about electricity here not mechanical power
Stop mixing things up

What's strange in solar powered pumps
Is that the topic of discussion

All those are Chinese coys they bring in finished product tell me they turn out raw lithium ore into Lifepo4 batteries here in Nigeria...show me evidences.

They are domiciled in Nigeria, not finished product, the raw material for making the battery which is Lithium, is found in abundance in Nigeria hence the localization in Nigeria..
Like every other thing, a full machine has to source some of its part from others, the major ingredient in this battery is LITHUM and its in Nigeria, so it is manufactured here hence its now cheaper like I said. With the rate of inflation you can still get a 7kva for less than 5m

Are you an engineering student?
Do you really think the pumped hydro is a realistic replacement for batteries?

That is still very expensive bros if we are having 200ah for #100k then you can say it is coming down.

Bro the Tech is imported, so it wont be that cheap plus, they still have to export to other countries, we are just lucky we have teh raw materials in our country. If you relate it to inflation you ill agree with me its cheaper. compare it to the cost of cables/wires and iron rod. The value if the said 7kva remained at 6 to 8 M for the past 4 to 5 yrs, Another thing that is cheap also is wall and floor tiles cos it is now manufactured here, minimum importation.

He probably heard someone talk about it then thought he through in that big grammar to bamboozle us, ahah He saw the word storage then concluded its some sort of electrical storing facility. These kids nor go kpi us abeg grin grin grin grin

you was overthinking this here, you think this has not been tried B4 and PHS was left alone to just stabilize grid?

Which inflation?what baffles me is even imported ones are cheaper.i know that Cworth inverters & batteries are d most expensive than other lots.

yes, there are operational pumped hydro power stations in china, UK and some other countries.

Examples of operational pumped hydro power plants include the Fengning Station in China, the Okutataragi and Okkiyotsu stations in Japan, Tumut-3 in Australia, and the Dinorwig Power Station in the United Kingdom.

Thank you for the education
I learnt something new
But I must confess that I don't see the efficiency in this pumped hydro power technology from that I've read about the examples you gave. Using 6TWh to generate 8TWH is just about 20% efficiency and I'm sure you'll agree with me that a country like Nigeria that's grasping with power supply can't see that as a viable solution. Battery storage are more efficient in my view. If you disagree, I won't mind if you educate me further

Yes battery storage is more efficient. The efficiency of a pumped hydro system is generally 75-85% but it cheaper and lasts longer than battery storage at the grid level. Also pumped hydro is only useful at the level of the grid, not for individual or small scale storage.
