Striker Yassir Zabrini netted twice to lead Morocco to a historic 2-0 victory over Argentina, securing the nation’s first-ever FIFA Under-20 World Cup title, News360 Nigeria reports.

Zabrini found the back of the net in the 12th and 29th minutes of Sunday’s final, guiding the North African side to a landmark triumph and making Morocco the first African country to lift the U-20 World Cup trophy since Ghana’s victory in 2009.

The young Atlas Lions topped a tough group featuring Spain, Brazil, and Mexico before overcoming South Korea, the United States, and France in the knockout stages to reach the final.

For Argentina, it was their first defeat in the tournament, ending their pursuit of a record seventh title.

The South American giants were also without two of their top players in this age group, Bayer Leverkusen’s Claudio Echeverri and Real Madrid’s Franco Mastantuono.

Morocco’s triumph marks a new chapter in African youth football, highlighting the continent’s growing influence on the global stage.

It's youth world cup, not senior worldcup. Anything can happen.

Portugal won it in 1989, and everyone expected that they would eventually do it at the senior world cup. By 2002, when most of that team were about to retire, Portugal was knocked out of the first round of the world cup.

Winning U20 does not mean you are kings, it means that work don start.
