My response was because of the reason for her rejection. Which was stated as because she was in love with someone else. At that young age girls usually fall in love wrongly due to their undeveloped decisions making skills and emotions.

That's also why I futher stated unless it has been established that the person she is in love with is a good fit for her in all major aspects presently or potential wise shorterm and long-term.

She should have ran away from the house to anywhere to restart life elsewhere. Why kîll yourself over unwanted marriage! What is wrong with this generation? How did sǔicide become an easy way out with little depression?

Running away is easier if she has means to sustain herself, if she is a job she is doing, an NGO to fight for her, Uncles and Aunties who can understand her position. She may have not seen that as an option because the Uncles and Aunties she may have tried to talk to didn't see she was making a valid point... her culture may have not giving her such right over her father too. Her action shows a failed society. If she had wanted to remain in the marriage, the rage and hatred could have pushed her to kpai the husband and everyone then will be blaming her too.

Shut up. Is it only in the North? I'm from the South West and we had issues like that last year in my hometown. The lady ran away from the village to Epe to meet her boyfriend.

The husband had to report to the family of the lady that he came back from work and he found that his wife had left with all her things.

He requested for the return of the bride price he paid which was later returned to him. The lady has had a child for the lover and now the family is inviting him to show up to do the needful.

It's not only in the North, it's everywhere. So we should condemn it and educate people in the villages about the dangers of such practice.

Our children should be allowed to make their choices and be responsible for the choices they make.

Child marriage and forced marriage are barbaric practices, borne out of perversion and lack of sexual control.

Why all these for God sake, no enforcement to marriage should be added to our 1999 Nigeria constitution amendment.

Point of correction: she did not kill herself because of any man, but because of her family trying to force her to marry an older man who happens to be the father's friend. It's called arranged marriage, which automatically robbed her off personal choice.

That's islam for you. The only religion that forces little girls into marriage. This is pure evil and it should not be allowed. Her death could have been prevented.
