Three INEC Staff Abducted En Route to Anambra, Rights Activist Alleges

Three staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were allegedly kidnapped while travelling to Anambra State for an official assignment, according to rights advocate Harrison Gwamnishu on his verified Facebook page.

What we know — Nigeria News Today

Gwamnishu wrote that the officials were seized on their way to Anambra. He did not disclose the exact route or the time of the attack. As at press time, no group had claimed responsibility and there were no ransom demands reported.

“Three INEC staff were kidnapped on their way to Anambra State for assignment,” Gwamnishu posted.

Trend of attacks and rising concern

Security watchers note a pattern of abductions targeting commuters and government workers on inter-state corridors. Recent incidents in parts of Kogi State have heightened anxiety among travellers, even as authorities intensify patrols and stop-and-search operations.

Official reaction pending

The Bureau News reached out to INEC and police commands in Anambra and Kogi for confirmation and additional details on the victims’ identities, route, and rescue efforts. Formal responses were yet to be received at the time of filing.

What commuters should do now

Use daylight travel where possible and share live location with trusted contacts.
Avoid isolated stretches and comply with security advisories and checkpoints.
Report suspicious movements to the nearest police division or emergency lines.

Oh so the kidnapping has also touched inec staffs
I thought with the massive 2023 bullion van largesse they will all be flying, how exactly are they still using road

Hmmmm, I guess they don't know that they contributed to the insecurity in their own way.

Wishing them quick release after huge ransom, at least the remaining money from 2023 bullion van can finally finish so they can clear their account and wait for the 2027 alerts.

Is Tinubu really failing in national security?

Why's kidnapping and armed robbery the new normal in Nigeria?

Ok let's attribute it to poverty. But why's a particular tribe leading in this underworld trade?

Why? To the extent that governments in Katsina and other northern states are now negotiating with them? Why?

Why are these people making separation look attractive?

But would the Middlebelt to the South fare better if the Hausas and Fulanis are left to run their own countries independently?

Is there really in strength in our diversity?

Should we also blame Hausa boys for this incident that shows Tinubu’s incompetence and cluelessness in governance beyond squeezing out revenue from the public huh

IamANigerianMan:
Na these hausa boys, they come in numbers to collect phone, laptop, tv , these guys can be arrested because those phones they collect can easily be tracked

Next thing is…. Nothing else is heard about it. The gunmen are not searched for and fished out and dealt with. But let someone insult a politician on social media, police will swing into anction and fish them out within hours or days.

Why did he not delegate insecurity questions to Shettima in Chatham House huh

Maxymilliano:
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has explained why he delegated some members of the party to respond to questions posed to him.
According to the former Lagos Governor, he adopted the delegation method “to show team-ship”.

Tinubu spoke at the Chatham House lecture titled: ‘Nigeria’s 2023 elections: In conversation with Bola Ahmed Tinubu’, monitored by The Nation.

At the lecture, Tinubu after his opening remarks, assigned Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai to speak on how his (Tinubu-led) government would address insecurity and asked the Director of Strategic Communication of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Aleke, to respond to the question on oil theft.

AntiChristian:
May Allah help us cruxify all these terrorists!
Allah is going to help you and crucify the terrorists while your elected president who is the commander in chief of the Armed forces continue to loot the money that is meant to equip the military and police to fight the terrorists. Continue waiting for an Allah that will never come while insecurity ravage the country, maybe in 2027 you should vote for Allah to become the president since your elected president is incompetent and not well prepared to handle the situation.

You can imagine the hypocrisy... It is so hard to see the picture, when you're in the frame. DSS act more like a lap dog. They'd turn blind eye to the evil going on. We only get to witness their potency when you criticize a political heavy weight. Shame on all our leaders, from top to bottom in Buhari's voice.
