Armed Robbers Raid 11 Compounds in Jikwoyi, Abuja, Before Dawn; Residents Report Gunshots and Assaults

ABUJA (FCT) — Tuesday, October 21, 2025: An armed gang of about a dozen men attacked multiple homes in Jikwoyi, a suburb near Karu, in the early hours of Tuesday, carting away cash, jewellery, and other valuables, The Bureau News learned on scene.

How the attack unfolded — Nigeria News Today

Residents said the attackers scaled perimeter fences and forced their way into apartments across eleven compounds, smashing doors and windows. The intruders, who addressed one another with names like “Area” and “Commander,” spoke in Hausa and Fulfulde, according to eyewitnesses.

“We couldn’t sleep all night,” a resident told The Bureau News on condition of anonymity. “There were sporadic gunshots, doors breaking, windows shattering, and people crying as they were slapped and beaten.”

Arrests and police response

Community sources said two suspects were apprehended during the chaos, though details remained sketchy. Attempts by The Bureau News to reach the Jikwoyi Police Division were unsuccessful as calls did not connect at press time.

Security concerns and immediate needs

The overnight raid has rattled middle-class estates in Jikwoyi, where residents are urging increased patrols, functioning streetlights, and rapid response coverage along access roads toward Karu. Community leaders also asked victims to document losses and seek medical care for trauma and injuries.

These recent cases of armed robbery are quite alarming but, the NPF are expected to rise to the occasion and have these criminal gangs smashed sooner than later.

Abuja is a very large metropolis and these isolated cases are not enough to discredit all the efforts and achievements taking place there.

Some people are already "break-dancing" over these incidents just to get at Mr President and the FCT Minister.

Why are these enemies of society like this?

When good things happen, they sneer!

When bad things happen, they go to town dancing wildly like lunatics.

Security is a collective responsibility of all well-meaning citizens and not solely that of Tinubu or Wike.

However, this is not to say that more doesn't need to be done, as the primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property.

Wike, the IGP and others must redouble their efforts in combating these waves of crime and criminal activities in the FCT.

It's a task that is achievable!

Oga you can hardly track phones again except maybe iPhone. As for android, the change the IMEI numbers or breakup the phone for parts.
One of my phones was stolen November last year, till today it has not appeared on any network

Mrs Olakunrin died of gunshot wounds in July 2019 after her vehicle was attacked by armed men, suspected to be marauding Fulani bandits whose violent activities had reached a frightening level across the southwest states.


Those arrested suspects include Lawal Mazaje, 40, from Felele area of Kogi State; Adamu Adamu, 50, from Jada area of Adamawa State; Mohammed Usman, 26, from Illela area of Sokoto State and Auwal Abubakar, 25, from Shinkafi area of Zamfara State....

However, the leader of the team, identified only as Tambaya, and three others are yet to be found.

Tambaya has been declared wanted by the police and he is said to be capable of communicating in Hausa, Fulfude and Pidgin English.

There is another police checkpoint at kurudu in front of Kurudu police station. There is another one in Jikwoyi very close to the Jikwoyi police station. And then there is another one in front of Fidelity bank at CBN junction. The armed robbers shouldn’t be able to escape all of them.
