PRESS STATEMENT
DANGOTE GROUP REFUTES OWNERSHIP OF TRUCK IN AKUNGBA-AKOKO ACCIDENT

Dangote Group has refuted reports circulating on social media and in some online platforms linking it to a truck involved in a road accident in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The company wishes to make it categorically clear that the truck involved in the unfortunate incident does not belong to Dangote Group or any of its subsidiaries.

Verified vehicle registration details confirm that the truck with Plate No. JJJ 365 XB, is owned and operated by an independent logistics company with no affiliation to Dangote Group. For the avoidance of doubt, the truck was not conveying any Dangote products but was transporting crushed stones in reused sacks bearing various brand names.

Dangote Industries maintains a strict policy on fleet management and vehicle identification, ensuring that all its trucks are properly branded, tracked, and operated by trained personnel under rigorous safety and compliance standards.

For clarity, all genuine Dangote trucks carry distinct company markings and fleet numbers, making them easily identifiable.

While the company deeply sympathises with all those affected by the incident, it urges members of the public and the media to verify information before attributing ownership or involvement to Dangote Group.

The company also advises media organisations to refrain from using images of Dangote-branded trucks in connection with accidents or incidents unrelated to its operations.

Dangote Industries remains steadfast in its commitment to road safety, regulatory compliance, and responsible corporate citizenship across all its operations in Nigeria and beyond.

An effective railway system will reduce the number of these heavy trucks on our roads & also reduce such tragedies.

Most Independent logistics operators who move goods for Dangote brand their trucks with the Dangote logo.

Except Dangote finds a way to make them unbrand those trucks, it will continue to expose Dangote group to serious reputational damage

The trucks on our roads was a ploy by the military back then to make their friends super rich by allocating so much for them to import trucks and tankers to transport petroleum products and others. Ask the likes of Chachangi.

It was delibrate to kill the railway system.

You should stop being obsessed about virgins. It's kind of sad to see you shouting up and down for years about this

Don't bring your personal issues to the internet. If some woman decieved you and you are feeling angry about it years later, it's on you, not her. Give up bitterness and move on.

It’s good they cleared the air quickly. People are always too quick to tag every truck accident to Dangote. At least they’ve provided the plate number and ownership details for verification.

FRSC should confirm the plate number

When people blame Dangote for every trucks accident, it makes the public and government ignore the real causes of road accidents.
Many accidents happen because of
Bad roads and poor maintenance
Reckless driving or untrained drivers,
Overloading of vehicles and
Poor road signs . When we did not stop the blames games because of hates our government who aren't doing enough for our well being will continue to hide behind our foolishness to scam us more.

There is a way if doing same. The company's name/logo is boldly written or covers the entire truck but on the doors to the cab the contractor's name and location is written. Even so the perception of the public would be that all trucks marked Dangote belong to his company. Same in the US ... FedEx trucks are entirely covered with the logo ... workers with the FedEx uniforms ...but many trucks are owned and operated by independent contractors who hire their own people and dash them FedEx uniforms to make deliveries. The public perception is they all are FedEx owned trucks and FedEx employees .
These accidents can be greatly reduced if there is enforcement of road rules and truck road worthiness. Dangote truck? ...when it is not and the Police allow it to continue on its merry way regardless if a wheel is about to drop off or the driver is over speeding.

Thanks to VDM, the company is now quick to respond to issues relating to their trucks.

This is a welcome development.

Oya, name names since your independent investigation has already revealed the details, stop hiding behind a finger. With the clothes of Dangote industries, getting the names out will not be a problem if it so wishes. I hope this doesn't die a silent death as others in the past after denial. When you were enjoying free advertisement on the back of your trucks being used by other persons, you have never denied ownership but you guys are quick to deny the ownership of any truck once involved in an accident undecided undecided undecided undecided undecided
