The United States’ national debt has topped $38 trillion, as the gap between government spending and revenues in the world’s largest economy expands at a rapid pace.

The US Department of the Treasury included the staggering figure in its latest report on the nation’s finances, with the debt standing at $38,019,813 as of Tuesday.

The figure amounts to roughly $111,000 of debt for every person in the US, and is equivalent to the value of the economies of China, India, Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom combined, according to the Peter G Peterson Foundation, a Washington, DC-based think tank.

The milestone comes a little over two months after debt in the US surpassed $37 trillion in mid-August. The debt stood at $36 trillion in November 2024, and $35 trillion that July.

And so whatever happens in the "People's House" is my business.

Imagine someone who has never stepped foot in the US questioning a citizen what business something that happens with their government is to them.
You should be asking yourself how this thread or anything happening in the US is YOUR business.
But I'm sure, despite the many times you've been called out for lying about living in the US, you'll continue to say, "But, I do live there".

What we know is that Trump made a lot of noises about cutting waste via jobs, USAID and other money he considered as waste. He also said he is getting lots of money from his tariff. What we expect as a result of all of those is reduction of National deficit/debt. Care to explain to us why that is not?

At least Trump stopped the attempt to print & borrow $150 billion to secure the border !!! The border that couldn't be secured without NEW LAWS AND FUNDING from Congress.

Trump is so unpredictable. Just a couple of days ago, I was frustrated with how he was hesitating in dealing with the Ukraine/Russia conflict. Flip-flop all the time However, yesterday he imposed sanctions on Russia, prompting the EU often seen as a joke in today's world had to join in.

In additiob, India, with its tail between its legs, announced that it would no longer be purchasing Russian oil following the sanctions.
