Onazi? Apart from AFCON 2013 and the World Cup 2014 run, Onazi was not a mainstay in our team. But I admit he was phenomenal in those competitions. Arguably our most important midfielder in those competitions, and our midfield crumbled when he was substituted against France in the second round.

I know I picked Celestine Babayaro as my Left back but upon reflection I'll go with Taiye Taiwo instead. TT had more caps and tournament appearances than CB, and was more impactful.

CB didn't play many matches for the Super Eagles, and his best performance for Nigeria was at Atlanta 96, and that's technically not the Super Eagles. So I'll replace Celestine Babayaro with Taiye Taiwo in Left back.
We didn't get to see much of Ogenyi Onazi because of Nosa Igiebor who played in a better club. If not for the boldness of Keshi, that trophy wouldn't have been won.

Better players sometimes are overlooked because of where they play.

Ofcoz same way Kelechi Nwakali was overlooked and never got a real NT shot in a role that badly needed his profile. Even when he did play, most in here still turned a blind eye to his solid showing and years on, we are still looking for bonafide Creative and vertical playing profiles to come into both the AM & CM roles.

History happens but most here learn nothing from it.

Now providence has given us Akinsanmiro and Uche Christantus at the same time yet it looks like rocket science for the technical crew to figure out how to fit them in. Something I have tactically analysed already. Well, na dem sabi. We are out of time.
So, Let us work with what the coach knows. We better get the lineup right vs Gabon so as not to isolate Osimhen. We play those who will link up with and find Osimhen constantly. Chikena.

A Nigerian All time XI without Jay Jay Okocha is incomplete. Absolutely incomplete.

I rewatched a game on Youtube via my TV in my spare time few weeks back. Nigeria vs Senegal Afcon 2000. Pls, Okocha still showed up in that game despite the red card and was missed vs SA. You know SA would have been roasted beyond 2 goals if Okocha had played.

I am also putting in defensive rigidity in the midfield triangle. A midfield made of Oliseh, Onazi and Mikel Obi will be so balanced. Think of Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz and Joao Neves.

Okocha as an offensive midfielder will certainly blaze but I prefer a more controlled midfield.

onazi oliseh and okocha is good enough. Control is good, higher chance creation is better.

So Kanu Nwankwo no make anybody All Time Nigeria Greatest XI? Quite Revealing.

Well, thing is in a 433, e go hard for big OG talents like Kanu Nwankwo, Daniel Amokachi and Samson Siasia to make it in. They were more like SS profiles except Amokachi who also led the attack on his own. Amokachi was a bulldozer CF who could play in a 2 man CF setup or as a lone CF.

But in a 442 amd most certainly in a 3-4-2-1, they stand huge chances.

Gasperini and Roma falls to Durosinmi's Plzen.

Sean Dyche starts well with Forrest vs "Unbeaten" Porto who are now beaten for the first time in all competitions this 25/26 season.
Forrest's 1st win in Europe since 1995.

Palace lose at home 0-1 vs Aek larnaca. Glasner threw Uche in on 87mins. Smh, Palace cant even give Uche a start in a European game.

Omo why we dey put Yobo for RB all these while? The trash talking on JJ Okocha too get as e be. Una go say e perform kon still comot am again and then rinse and repeat. Lol. Oya do 3 man defense if RB no dey na. So area go contain everyone. cool. Fix Ambrose for that RB abeg

We never even talk of dem Moses, Odemwingie. But Bench go tight.

If we are real, we have raw talent to compete with dem Germans, Spaniards and England if we do XI A and B. But a factor is the weapon fashioned against this idea. They're currently facing $10m fraud issues. That NFF.

Fair point.

Taiye Taiwo was certainly good but I also put in offensive and defensive contributions. When we compare both, I believe Celestine Babayaro was miles a better defender than Taiye Taiwo. Although Taiwo comes with an explosive offensive game. Celestine Babayaro is more balanced from my take.

Also I think the debate is centered on in their prime. Not in longevity or commitment to the Super Eagles. So CB takes it for me.

Exactly. It is the tactical needs of the RW for each coach that matters. Both have equal shouts for that role but Finidi is my take coz I need one who will supply the 9 constantly, while taking the occasional strike at goal (1995 UCL Semis vs Bayern) and not one who go dey drag top scorer with am. Lol
This is funny because my mind went to Okocha behind Osimhen.

I no know the genesis of this convo but the bolded is true. Considering we have a few star players based on position of play, the league where players play should not be the sole yardstick.

2nd to last defender?

PDPGuy:
BREAKING 🚨

IFAB will reconsider Arsene Wenger’s proposal to amend the offside rule.

Under Wenger’s proposal, a player would only be deemed to be offside if their ENTIRE body (the parts that can legally be used to score a goal) is ahead of the 2nd to last defender of the opposing team…

The potential amendment to the rule could drastically reduce debates surrounding the use of VAR on offsides..

sooner or later tho he’ll need to change his style of play else by time he clocks 30 he’ll be washed, he’ll need to be more instinctive and less energy/power
That's why I said that I fear for him. I can't even bear the idea of him being washed.

But remember Amokachi was called the bull. He had an injury and that was it. I pray Osimhen never suffers the same fate
