Are there still fiction writing jobs? Or even writing jobs again? I feel the writing field has been over saturated and the jobs are not even enough to go around. Most newbies have crashed the price and we can't get tangible pay for jobs. But anyways, I believe this down moments will be over soon. So, as a remote worker… How did you cope during the era of gig scarcity? Did you transition to a new niche entirely or did you wait the storm out? |

Noblejohn32:Bro, i've known for over a year now that writing gigs was dying (thanks to more smarter AI that can output crazy, near-human texts), but i kept hoping. Because i had one last client, i kept postponing learning a new skill, with the excuse of being busy. You see, life has a way of punishing you for loving your comfort zone. That's exactly what happened to me. I lost that client in june. I survived with my savings in july, and i can boldly tell you i've practically been begging family members for money since then--very humiliating. Now i'm learning AI workflow automation. Might learn UI writing after that, then find jobs with it. Regardless, we move. AI has come to stay, and i don't plan to be on the loosing end. |

Omoh, you just narrated my condition now. 2022, 2023 were boom years. Made nothing less than 350k on bad months. But since the beginning of the year, I've been trying over hard but can't even land something sustainable. Never been so broke to the extent that I can't afford data. I use to sub at least 25k monthly. At the moment, client are underpaying or not even paying at all. I've shifted tent to event planning as I do MC but I'm still trying to build connect in the field. Also trying my hands on other online task like surveys and e-therapy. Worst is, my laptop and phone chose this season to be faulty. It's a whole lot!!! Professor007: |

It's really an interesting time for freelancing, you need to accommodate AI in your new skills else you'll struggle to get gigs |

Professor007:Same story here. AI and newbies reduced the gigs. I've never been so broke in my life. From July to August I've lived off from begging family members and friends. My last client finally bailed in July. From 8 jobs per week to 3 and 2, until finally no more. Anyway life goes on and survival is a must. There's no stability in writing gigs. Even the pro rated freelancers on Upwork are surviving with side hustles or now teaching people how to make money on the same Upwork where it's easier now to get a government job than to land a gig there. If it was still paying they'll be too busy to teach. |
