10 Things Catholics Do That The Apostles Didn't

1. The apostles didn't pray to Mary.
2. They didn't pray to the dead.
3. They didn't do satanic processions.
4. They didn't go to mass.
5. Scapular.
6. Infant baptism.
7. They didn't believe in purgatory.
8. They didn't use holy water.
9. They didn't call Peter a pope.
10. They didn't bow down or worship idols.

So where did the Catholic church get these practices from?

Certainly not from the apostles or the early church.

I saw this post on social media and it more or less portrayed my thoughts and concerns, hence deemed it wise to also share it here.

If the Catholics indeed claim and believe to have emerged from the early church led the apostles, and Peter was their first bishop or pope, then why the drastic deviation from the example, doctrines and standards set by the apostles and those of the early church?

Moreover where did all the practices in the Catholic church foreign to the early church, things which the apostles never did, such as praying rosary to so-called "Mary", emerge from?

These are some important questions some of our Catholics brethren ought to ask themselves if they truly want to follow Jesus and not the traditions and doctrines of men, because it's beyond glaring that many such practices and doctrines in their Catholic church do not align with those of the apostles and the early church which they claim to have originated from.

If indeed the Catholic church emerged from the early church led by the apostles of Christ, It's my earnest desire to see them return to the example, doctrines and standard set by the apostles and early church which they received from Jesus Christ

This also applies to any denomination, not just Catholics, that is practicing anything contrary to that which we read in the Gospels of Jesus which was followed by the apostles and the early church, otherwise they're no different from the Catholic church in that regard.

Therefore they also need to repent and return to the practices and doctrines of the apostles which they received from Jesus.

This will be an interesting thread. So many things which were not done in the Bible but are now practiced by both Pentecostals and Catholics.

It would be a litany if we start comparing everything done now versus what the apostles did.

Every mallam with his kettle. So much doctrine is making the church a shadow of itself. Now I think we’re more like the pharisees and sadducees than Jesus.

And the crazy part is that Christian observe this doctrines even than the law of God and Christ that preaches love.

The Catholic church teaches from Bible and Tradition.

Those things you listed may not be in the bible, but they are in the tradition of the church.

So, if you don't know tradition of the church, go ask your parish priest

The Apostles did not pray and break bread as mandated by Christ?

What is Pope, Papa etc?
Was Peter not the leader of the flock as appointed by Christ?

Where is GO or Superintendent in the bible?

Human had been adding and removing from Bible to suit their purposes, since time immemorial.

90% of church goers today are ignorantly worshiping their church G.Os, Bishops, Prophets etc.

......the church leaders manipulating Bible in other for congregants to be entangled in their fold and continue milking them as they wish.

There are the doctrines of the church embedded in traditions and customs, it is absolutely non of your business how each denomination choose to worship God. If, however God gave you the mandate to be the judge pls continue

Majority of those practices are man made practices turned into doctrine, May God purge his church and its overseers

The term "Roman Catholic" is not used without reason. The Roman Catholic Church is heavily influenced by Roman paganism. For example, they changed the birthday of Jesus to coincide with the feast of their deity, the Roman god Sol Invictus (the Unconquered Sun). They also shifted the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, the day they worship their sun god. This influence has caused Roman Catholicism to resemble idol worship, which is contrary to true Christianity.

Regarding images of Jesus and Mary, the Bible clearly states in Exodus 20:4-5: "You shall not make for yourself an idol of any kind... You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God." However, Catholics created images of Jesus and Mary and bow down to them in worship.

The Catholic Church has negatively influenced other Christian denominations by introducing these images/pictures, causing believers to focus on them during prayer and attribute supernatural powers to them. They have also influenced many Christians, including apostolic churches, to celebrate the wrong birthday of Jesus and observe Sunday instead of Saturday as the Sabbath.

Overall, Christianity requires a thorough reform because its teachings have been corrupted and many non-biblical doctrines have been added. For instance, the Jehovah’s Witnesses highlighted in their Awake magazine (dated September 8, 1957) that there are reportedly "50,000 Errors in the Bible." This is why they produced their own translation to ensure accuracy. If the Bible contained so many errors, it would result in countless doctrines within Christianity that are not from God. Today, we see many Christians, including those in apostolic churches, deviating from the true teachings of Jesus. Many have been led astray. May God guide and keep us on the right path.

Catholics aren't Christians,they practice ancient Roman system of worship.

They hijacked the leadership of CAN after Pa Ayo Oritsejafor,and since then,CAN became a shadow of itself.

The Churches in the world of today and yesterday after the Apostles, they are just doing what will favor them, they don't do it just because they follow Jesus Christ, they are just using the name of Christ to cover up their deities.

But the Bible didn't explicitly condemn women leading a religion infact during the times of the Israelites they had women Judges who led the spiritual nation of Isreal and the also said blessed are women for they will spread the word of God(not exact quote). However, image worshipping or human worshipping is explicitly condemned by God yet Catholics do it.

Why don’t you start by naming the idols that Catholics worship?

Second, Mary lived with the Apostles, why did they need to pray to who they were living with? Maybe you should tell us if the Apostles ever disrespected her or called her an envelope like your theology teaches.

Third, by pray to the dead, you mean saints? So you do not recognize the difference between you and the people who lived with Jesus and suffered martyrdom in some cases to propagate this faith you are now forming opinion on? Like, what makes you think you or your pastor should share same pride of place with Apostle Paul?

And to Purgatory, do you believe that God will send a woman who stole bread 🍞 from a supermarket to feed her hungry children to the same place He would send murderers and cultists?

How can you be praying and bowing to a statue and at the same time claim you are worshiping God?
