fxexperts:do you know how much it cost to study to become a medical doctor in UK or USA? in the USA some people take over 20 years to clear there student debt. if he studied in a federal university he did not pay tuition fee as that was subsidized by the federal goverment what he would have paid where miscellenous fees. the country is bad yes but he should take into consideration that he got his education almost for free and should be grateful. |

Pythagoras001:So because he got his education for almost free, he should work and die receiving peanuts for a pay? For 7 years he was receiving #185k and I can stake my left balls on it, that without any connection from an oga at the top or going into private practice, he will never receive ₦600k as a salary till he retires, given the Nigerian corruption factor where promotion and appointments are not made on merits. What do you even mean by almost free, with no electricity, schools always on strike, rodents infested, and inhabitable hostels with no basic amenities. Lecturers willing to take bribes, what is almost free please? |

Pythagoras001:Some of you just keep regurgitating what one useless politician who doesn't know his left from his right said at one point in time that makes no meaning whatsoever just to suit his deluded narrative and keep a blind eye to their shortcomings. First of all, their education was never free; maybe they went to some pubic university whose cost cannot be compared to some abroad, but that doesn't mean it was subsidized in any way by the useless government. because Lecturers in Nigeria are not paid as per their counterpart abroad. So if you want the students to pay that same high fee in Nigeria that is being paid abroad, then the lecturers have to be paid heavily too, like their counterparts abroad, and the lab and school premises have to be upgraded too to be at equal par with the ones abroad. So don't ever say education in Nigeria was subsidized, the correct statement is that education in Nigeria is cheap compared to the ones abroad, period. Those doctor bought their own book, paid school fees, and went through hell in a substandard building and a very substandard laboratory to get their certificate. With serious sleeples nights and hard work just to get to where they are today. |

fxexperts:he could have just gone to study the medicine in the USA or UK instead of nigeria don't you think so? he should be grateful for the subsidized education he got it is that simple. i dislike ungrateful people. Yes the country is bad but be grateful for at least the education he got. not everyone in the USA could have gotten it and those who got it are going to be paying debt for the most part of their lives . if he was an almajiri in the north with no schools would he have gotten this opportunity? |

Pythagoras001:Like i said earlier and i will still say again, they never got their education for free and the lie you were told that people will take loans and use all their life to pay in the US or UK is a huge lie. and i am surprise people like you still believe it , and you keep running with this same dumb narrative. People work and school there in US or the UK, and they make money to pay their tuition fees with very little contribution from their families. Only a few take student loans, and it is not so much like it will now become a Sherlock Holmes kind of loan the interest rates are fair. In countries like Germany and some other country tertiary education is free, and the government has not come forth to compel the students toy must stay and work in Germany even though there are a lot of jobs there. The only thing that they will tell you is that you will not have any reason to leave the country after you graduate. So stop all this useless emotional blackmail that doesn't hold water. |

smallsmall: Yes They worked hard to right the laws that pay them well Did doctors contest elections(e easy?) Those Senators that attend plenary at minimum level, sleep through plenary, still go home with #30Million every month..... Yup what value does the teacher bring if he trains useless students who become thieves and cannot solve problems What value does Doctor bring if he serves useless community Same with bricklayer. Those are services that depend on the demand of the market. Why did they choose jobs that don't pay well in Nigeria If it's so easy why them no go attend plenary make them sleep collect 30milla Nigeria is what it is, because most of the Citizens are ignorant and sycophantic.no Nigeria is what it is because most of the citizens are lazy |

It is a brutal reality that highlights why so many medical professionals feel forced to leave, as the gap in compensation and living standards isn't just hype but a life-changing difference for those working in such demanding roles. |
