God wasn't living in heaven that time He created heaven for His spirit sons and earth for humans! Psalms 115:16
Of course God destroyed everything living on planet earth because the fish and other creatures aren't cursing Him grief rather it's disobedient and rebellious humans! Genesis 6:6
So back to the question why do you think it makes sense that God should destroy what He made {Ecclesiastes 1:4} when He could just send angels to destroy those ruining the planet? Revelations 11:18; 19:14; 2Chronicles 19:35

Know the difference between destroying some living things on the earth and destroying the earth.
Humans perceive minuscule part of the earth. That's what will be destroyed - earth as YOU perceive it.

God's word explicitly says it is the destruction of ungodly men.

Wherever God resides is heaven! The "heavens" that was created at creation is what you see when you look up at the sky!

Just as the earth that will be destroyed is the earth you see when you look around you - which science tells us is less than 0.0035% of what there is to earth, which will not be destroyed!

Heaven is where the earth rely upon for sustenance as the life on earth depends largely on the atmospheric condition the heavens produces like rain, sunshine and cool breeze. Symbolic heaven in that prophecy means government that subjects rely on for policies to bring good benefits while the earth means the subjects.
The heavens in plural means different system of government that has ruled over mankind that's why it's in plural form but it's the same kind of subjects we have globally as mankind's need is the same that's why earth is singular.
So different system of government that has been ruling over mankind will be destroyed {Daniel 2:44} whenever God use fire as symbol it means such a thing will never ever exist again.
The earth in question are rebellious and disobedient humans claiming they want a better government from their rulers knowing fully well that no human can satisfy humans wants yet they always protest which often leads to bloodshed everywhere.
The New Heavens and Earth God is creating is the government God promised humble and obedient people which comprises of Jesus Christ and his anointed brothers of 144,000 {Revelations 14:1} this people will be taken to heaven as corulers with Christ Jesus and they are the ones we will rely on to bring an end permanently to human rules on planet earth.
Today the New Heavens and Earth has sufficed but only humble people can see this because God created one organization of humans who has a ruling team and obedient subjects from all the nations of the earth just as He promised! Isaiah 2:2-4; Micah 4:1-3
Throughout the world everyone knows that there is a group called Jehovah's Witnesses whose members are found in all the nations across the globe and they are faithfully and obediently adhering to what their spiritual leaders say. Act 1:8
Today all members of these group has vowed never to raise weapons against anyone be it friend or foe! Matthew 26:52 compare to Isaiah 2:4
With these two symbolic Heavens and Earth what Jesus said in the Bible book of Matthew 24:14 is fulfilled:

And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

The witness is so glaring today nobody can deny that God hasn't formed one big and happy family of peace loving worshipers out of the same humans who are fighting and killing themselves because of rulership. It's the same people living in different countries throughout the earth that God used and He brought out people who are ruling over them and their obedient subjects something the world failed to produce with their countless system of government!🙂

Who is talking about non-war churches?🙂

Do they preach from house to house and door to door about what Jesus commanded?
Do they have one spiritual government that's controlling them?
Do they baptize new converts and make them preachers too?
That's the procedure not just claiming non-war church!🙂
