They steal crude oil and call it production shortfall. Based on this so-called production shortfall, they will have to tax Nigerians more in order to meet up with payment of interest on IMF and WB loans, because those loans are backed by crude oil production and sales targets. You might wonder, why steal crude oil when you can steal the revenue after the sale? If you steal already recorded crude revenue, you have to back it up with documentation that can be queried later by another government. So they steal the crude and record less production. |

This is why government needs to desperately diversify revenue generation from crude oil. The nation would no longer be held to ransom by crude oil production shortfalls. The new tax law will ensure more revenues will certainly flow into government coffers now. |

When a figure is projected in the BUDGET and it has not been met as of October; does it mean there was no improvement in that sector? The daily production was less than a million barrels per day last year and it has gone up to 1.6m barrels or thereabout now, if you ask me that is improvement. A lot of people don't read to understand but to criticize. Politics and ethnicity has destroyed our objectivity. God help the so called educated people of our nation. |

grandstar:What are Tinubu and APC doing to the increasing Lagos revenue flowing into government coffers since 1999, if they have failed to employ workers to make water available in all households? Do you think they are stealing it, to buy political votes and power? What would make you trust them with more revenue flowing into government coffers since ![]()
Lagos has now crossed the 3 Trillion Naira annual budget mark. Crossed 2 Trillion in 2024. Memory Lane: the first full-year Lagos State budget (Year 2000) in the 4th Republic was in the region of 40-something billion Naira. And it was described as “unprecedented” back then. https://x.com/toluogunlesi/status/1877326708904181856?t=R_xycXnffVtjtiWwoGCzAQ&s=19
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5v-F81hNTs ICYMI: I said I was richer than Osun State, Tinubu admits However, Buhari doesn’t have the kind of money I can steal neither does he have the money I can collect. He doesn’t even have the money for Lagos votes. So, whatever I promise, it’s for real and is coming from my pocket. It’s not until I go to Alausa before I get money to give you.” Addressing APC supporters on the need to deliver votes, Tinubu said handsome cash rewards await those who can deliver votes for the party. He said he would not make mistakes of the past where people would collect money in advance and not deliver on election day. Tinubu added, “Those of you that say you come to Bourdillon for mobilisation, it is mobilisation that we are doing here or don’t you understand? Definitely, if you know people in your neighbourhood, our members, how we used to do. https://punchng.com/i-said-i-was-richer-than-osun-state-tinubu-admits/ |

givedemwotowoto:Where do you get your assumptions from? Why do countries run to the IMF? It is usually because they are very broke or lack foreign exchange. The interest the World Bank and IMF are very low, very easy to service, with some loans as low as 1%. Nigeria owes the World Bank $18bn. With interest rates ranging from 1-2.25%, this is piffling. This is barely $450m a year. Very very easy to service The IMF asking you to increase revenue is the "equivalent of your parents asking you to get a better job, a job that pays better. Look at Lagos, because of IGR, it is able to function to a very large extent without depending on the monthly allocation. Nigeria is too dependent on crude oil revenues for survival. So, anytime the Naira crashes, the government and the country is in trouble. Through a massive rise in non=oil revenues recently, the government was in a better position to weather production shortfalls in crude oil. Nigeria does not owe the IMF a dime. You can confirm it yourself. |
