I have just been told by @NatSportsComm chairman @ShehuDikko that Rabat has been confirmed to the teams as the venue for the #FIFAWorldCupPlayoffs #Africa. I presume it will be the Olympic Stadium, which hosted the opening and closing games of the WAFCON Via Osasu Obayiuwana on twitter |

Nigeria vs Benin Republic women qualifiers ended 1:1 in Ogun State . Though we qualified ,it shows the Benin players are getting better perhaps they would have qualify if they play a weaker team |

We keep seeing more excellent FBs as months go hy while we barely see their local counterparts, even from the NPFL or cadet level that can walk into the senior team because they're hard to keep ignoring. Yet they'll drag foot on that FB because of that silent agenda against FBs lately. Smh. |

daveP:That statement is quite untrue. There are players but there are no scouts and they most probably dont play in the leagues. Ask NFF what they did with the money FIFA gave them. Scouting and development they will not do, but look for ready made material who don't know what it feels like to lose in Naija shirt. My stance remains and it is that we need to actively develop our own grassroot soccer. It seems the only thing foreign borns are good for is playing against European counterparts. While it seems like the in thing right now to be loading a national team with FBs, it only serves our immediate interest and not long term, thus not very sustainable. I feel for players like Jordan Torunariga and Akpoguma. We don use dem, dump them now. Change of coaches not also helping. Agents nko? Media nko? FBs are just supposed to be addition and not mainstay of the team but because we want immediate wins, we sacrifice future development for it. We forget that 10 years will soon become tomorrow morning!!! No be yesterday Iwobi enter Super eagles? Slowly e don reach like 80 caps Another variable that we haven't really been considering is level of poverty in the land. Many people say once they discover a player and he is invited to play in the Super Eagles, na Japa be the next option to an obscure league. Who will not want to japa? Can we blame a people that have built their lives on stomach infrastructure? This ultimately borders on bad governance! If we work on all these variables, Naija will become better but if we keep relying on FBs and choose it as the way to go, then the FA should kindly get a proper world class coach in the mould of Guardiola, Hansi Flick, Alonso and Carlo Ancelotti. We don''t need coaches who play players out of position and make them play eyesore matches. We dont need nepotism or paddy paddy arrangement. Disclaimer : I am not against capping foreign borns but we should ask ourselves why we are doing what we are doing and to what end? |

kennysville:Mention one npfl player that can walk into Chelle's team in the here and now and with a cameo appearance convince him to bench one of the current starters. Pls one. Im not doubting talent o. But they're just nor SE standard either by mentality, TECHNICALLY, or ability. I see it as a useless fight back to cover up the mismanagement of that league. Let them put in the work first. And the boldened is not truth or proper. They're Nigerians that were eager to rep. They're not 2nd class now. They're talented and want to do whatever is needed. When local players last produced top CBs, we haven't had any till date since Oyinbo Wall era. That was no fluke now. A serious FA will try to groom locals that are near competitive to compete with them but they just couldn't. I classify them into a) those that are eager early on and b) those that choose us last because 1st option door closed. Those in A should never be treated as 2nd class citizens. See Ashleigh Plumptre in the female team. Emergence at the right time. The locals are already disadvantaged cos of mismanagement. Me I'll love to see a new Kenneth Omeruo but as we speak, who in the league is close? Currently, see the cadet teams. 🤢🤮🤮 |
