3 Persons Lay Claim To ADC Chairmanship In Adamawa by AnonPoet(op): 5:58am On Oct 29, 2025

The Adamawa State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has splintered into three rival factions, each claiming to hold the legitimate chairmanship of the party in the state.

The division has pitted loyalists of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal against those of Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani, while the incumbent chairman, Shehu Yohanna, insists he remains the substantive leader of the party.

Lawal’s bloc has endorsed Sadiq Dasin as chairman, while Binani’s group has thrown its weight behind Saidu Komsiri. Yohanna, however, maintains that he remains the duly recognised Adamawa ADC chairman.

Speaking with Daily Trust, Komsiri denied that the party had broken into factions, insisting that the situation had been exaggerated by the media.

"People think there are two leaderships of the ADC in Adamawa State, but that’s not true,” he said. “What we have are two structures left behind by the former exco, the Shehu Yohanna leadership and the Mustapha Arabi leadership, which the national working committee has since intervened in.”

Komsiri explained that the ADC national leadership set up committees across all state chapters, including Adamawa, to stabilise the party. These include a Transition Steering Committee, which serves an advisory role, and an Interim Caretaker Committee, responsible for the day-to-day administration of the party and for organising congresses ahead of 2026.

He alleged that some members of the steering committee were attempting to overstep their mandate and usurp the responsibilities of the caretaker committee.

“The grassroots stakeholders are against this because it breaches the party constitution. Each committee has its role, and none should act as judge, jury, and janitor at the same time,” Komsiri added.

However, Yohanna dismissed talk of factionalism, insisting that he remains the only recognised chairman of the party in Adamawa.

“What we have is a case between the mafia and the common man,” Yohanna said.

He accused some party elites of trying to hijack the structure by creating parallel committees and warned that such moves could destroy the ADC in the state.

Yohanna also addressed his earlier ultimatum to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, saying the PDP leader had not formally joined the ADC despite claims to the contrary.

“Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has not picked up a membership card of the ADC. He cannot dictate what happens in a party he has not joined,” Yohanna said, adding that while Atiku is regarded as a coalition partner, only Binani and former Governor Jibrilla Bindow are registered members in the state.

He insisted, “ADC is one, under Comrade Shehu Yohanna as the substantive chairman. The attempt to create factions is a struggle between the powerful and the ordinary members.”

However, the party’s National Assistant Organising Secretary and North East Zonal Organising Secretary, Umar Bello Jada, said Atiku’s recent support for the Sadiq Dasin-led Transition Committee does not invalidate the legitimacy of the Komsiri-led caretaker committee.

Jada explained that the transition committee was established nationwide to handle mediation and reconciliation, while the caretaker committee was constituted to manage the party’s operations at the state level until new congresses are held.

He emphasised that none of the transition committee members were sworn in as state executives and, therefore, cannot function as such.

Atiku had earlier congratulated Sadiq Dasin and Blaise Hungushi Osagie on their inauguration as chairman and secretary of the Adamawa State Transition Implementation Committee. The ceremony, held on October 25, was presided over by ADC North East National Vice Chairman Babachir Lawal.

In a social media post, Atiku expressed confidence that the committee would strengthen the ADC’s internal structure and foster unity among members, urging stakeholders to build a credible opposition capable of offering better governance in Adamawa and across Nigeria.

Re: 3 Persons Lay Claim To ADC Chairmanship In Adamawa by EponObi(f):
This is the kind of friction/issue you'd least expect at the backyard of Atiku.

From top to bottom, every single opposition figure is grossly incompetent - from Obi (the most incompetent of the bunch) to Atiku to Amaechi. It's a pity.

Won fi won je oye awodi, won o le gbe ediye (Meaning: They made them chief of eagles, yet they cannot hunt a chick.)

I don't think any opposition will ever find it easy like these bunch. The pain from APC and Tinubu's policies of re-engineering our economy is a manna from heaven for them but they are doing nada to capitalize. NADA. ZILCH. ZERO.

Bunch of incompetent, clueless, and rudderless opposition figures.

Imagine the situation was like this in 2015; omo! APC would have entered dragon mode. GEJ for run away from Aso Villa. We had easier then but they put in the work with the greatest coordination ever seen by an opposition in Africa. They removed a sitting president and sent the once largest party in Africa back home.

These new ones are too dull for a fiery and ruthless Tinubu. Na like biscuit wey no get wrapper for 5 days Bola go chop them in 2027.

If that one from the SE isn't capping sh!t about matters he is clueless about like his latest nonsense tweet about Lagos ports, he'd saying BS like "Tinubu should come and solve Labour Party crisis." Sowore is far better than all of them combined.

Nigerians can now see they are not serious and none of them can stop Tinubu in 2027. SMH.

Presidential elections are only a year and few months away yet the presidential aspirants of ADC are scared of identifying with the party . The party is a vehicle to grab power. Am sure people can see through them .

The way all these oppositions dey run their affairs so ..

It's like they are digging their own graves by not legally fielding any candidates in 2027 elections.

Nigerians should not be surprised, if the only candidate will be that of APC... because, all these power tussles can backfire and the courts will decide not to recognise any of these oppositions candidates.

It's well

It's actually a tribal fight, who takes the leadership huh. The Fulanis can't have their way this time 📌💯🤷🏿

Since we have Babachir who is from the minority as the leader of the party in the North East and from Adamawa, the ideal thing was to support a Fulani candidate for the position of Adamawa State Chairman, to maintain balance and political sense. Instead, Atiku is backing Saidu Komsiri from the minority chamba tribe.

Komsiri is Chamba, and like Babachir Lawal, he’s a member of the “Gongola Forum” an association known in Adamawa for its deep-rooted resentment towards the Fulani. This group has thrived on fueling ethnic and religious divisions across the state for the past few months, this is synonymous to telling the Fulani’s in Adamawa to go to hell.
Re: 3 Persons Lay Claim To ADC Chairmanship In Adamawa by emkz: 7:15am On Oct 29, 2025
Even in Atiku's home state, ADC is in disarray.

Atiku makes one mistake. He is in bed with those who fell out with their own political parties. There are no guarantees they won't work against his interest or work against him.

Babachir Lawal went from Buhari to Tinubu to Obi and now Atiku. That is consistency in jumpology politics. That would affect party structures in Adamawa too.

The ADC experiment has largely failed due to the inability of the party to take off outside social media.

You get it. Their idea of being a master strategist is destroying political parties through inducement and subterfuge. Tinubu started this move in conjunction with Wike by sponsoring Magnus Abe to engineer crisis in Rivers state APC. APC failed to field candidates in practically two electoral cycles in the state. This anti-party move was done to deny Amaechi a foothold in his state as an aspiring contestant for the APC presidential primaries. They have now perfected the move at the national level, and it will succeed as long as there are people that money can induce. This is what our subsidy savings are being used for. It is also how nations fail.

Always blaming others for the problems you impose on yourself. What is troubling them is that they are all looking for ways to satisfy their greed for power. They don't have your love at heart.
Therefore, use your head when making comments. How can it be that any problem in every party is caused by Tinubu. Don't forget APC has its own problem.

Tinubu the true polimetrics. He analysis, evaluates and neutralize his enemies using every available means and weapons. With this new development Atiku and his likes should kiss presidency bye-bye.

ADC case is the worst… total lack of organisation and power wrangling

Destroying opponent political parties by whatever means is part of politics.

In 2013, Jonathan PDP did everything possible to prevent the registration of APC but the opposition in coalition then were smarter and very united unlike the coalifusion we have today.

Coalifusion members in ADC don't trust one another and suspicious of one another right from the onset when the party hasn't taken shape.

So, if you have a coalifusion today that are still in confusion 15 months to the general election, Tinubu would win in 2027.
