What Should I Reply My Son? by Kalulu44(op): 7:59pm On Oct 30, 2025
Since I have been on social media for the past 20yrs or so. I used to see this kind of messages once in awhile and it irks me so much that I barely think about them nor do what the senders always wants me to do.
Most times, the senders are people very close to you or your bosses or acquintainces.
I always ignored them, cus they look and sound childish and stupid to me.
.
Now, my 18yr old boy sent this to me ystday or so. Uptil now, I haven't even reply him nor what to exactly to say to him. I don't even have any positive thing to say to him nor wish to send it to anyone. I am just thinking what to tell him for such msg I have detested my all life.
What should I tell him guys? Or just completely ignored him and pretend I didn't see the msg?

He is your son, and if you break it down for him, I think he will get it. I am good at making points with a bit of humour, without stepping on anyone's toes (if that is what is bothering you), and you might just be showing him a path he will vibe with and appreciate.

Plenty of the struggles we guys face in the dating game, especially young men, come from dads not being open with their sons. I reckon the more we connect with our boys, the more it will shape how they act and think down the line.

Think about a teenager who is lacking in the sex education department just because he has not got that bond with his father?
We men gotta share our wisdom with the young ones, our way, and they will be looking up to us in the long run.

Don't take it so serious, ask him what he thinks about the message, and share your understanding with him.

Thank you so much for your assertion. You got me on this cus we both are living apart and afar. And that father and son relationship isn't that much strong. Thanks again for sharing

Do your fatherly role and explain to him why sending these kind of messages are wrong, especially for a man, who should know better and is suppose to be the "stronger sex".

Its only Nigerians I am aware that do this stupid thing.... Nigerians and probably other weak peoples struggling with inferiority complex trying to masquerade that they have some sort of divine calling to bless and send rubbish.

The threat at the end always reveals their weak nature and true intention.

The Almighty God that gave us freewill doesn't force us to bow to him, its now whatsapp message one should be afraid of shey !

Seems the boy is quite disrespectful to actually forward this kind of message to you in the first place.
I doubt he will send it to his employer or his school principal.

The mindset behind the message is the bigger problem
He believes sending the message to 15 people as instructed will make him rich, while refusal will get the opposite result
This mentality is what has driven many Nigerians into laziness and poverty
You need to let him that life doesn't work that way, and that all those stuffs do not materialise.

Anyone sending this kind of useless messages, I see them as people with weak intellect.
Not only will I be afraid my son is exhibiting such, but he also moves with people of that low caliber.

I'll sit him down, explain things to him, talk to his common sense and ask him to delete that rubbish from his phone.

Mehn the thing is annoying. Just as you said, I don't block people especially if the msg comes from close friends and family. I just ignore like you said until another conversation covers it. And funny a thing they never tried to ask why I didn't reply.
But coming from my son, I just had to reply him with a stern warning

Thank you very much, that I did back then. You won't believe he couldn't talk to me for over week, but later regret his actions and came back to apologize
