Robbing Peter to pay Paul. I mentioned this in the thread about Artificial price reduction of food produce while taxes are being increased and most myopic Nigerians were too shortsighted to see the impending doom and how that policy is not sustainable

We have too many sycophants in government. You sit in a meeting, and someone begins with, ‘Mr. President, I thank you for your leadership; God has blessed Nigeria by making you our leader.’ By the time they finish the praise-singing that is the advice the president takes.

“However, people like me that will say ‘Mr. President, this is wrong’ are branded enemies. So, when leaders surround themselves with praise-singers, they never get good advice.

Wondering why US is having trillion dollars debt
At least United states pay subsidy in fuel, on agric, health care , fund immigrant, pay benefits to unemployed, disabled, senior citizens, heavily fund their defence budget and the defence of other nations....

What's your own excuse for your huge debt??

Yall just borrow money to build luxury houses for judges as bribery and build 30, km road in 2.5years, pay salary that you were paying before subsidy was removed...then embezzle 70% of what u borrow and generate....then come back to tax Nigeria ....

We already know that the removal of fuel subsidy has never been for the benefit of us all. It’s all about one man’s frightening greed and heeded by illogical borrowings, without considering the consequences

You're wondering but never asked if US pay any subsidy.

What was the lie you people were propagating to defend the subsidy removal again?

U.S. government debt is denominated in U.S. dollars, a currency it controls and issues. It manages it using global trust and control over its own currency.

Nigeria can’t do the same because it borrows in other people’s currencies and depends on external creditors.

Comparison is a killer. If your man is doing wrong, call to attention, not trying to compare.

If Dangote borrow and you borrow na the same?

The death triad
Subsidy removal
Multiple taxation
Borrowing with reckless abandon

The effect
Impoverishing honest workers
Undermining Nigerians yet unborn
Increasing the poverty to self sufficiency ratio of Nigerians
Reducing life expectancy

When you visit US you will understand why.
Basic amenities working well
Health care top notch
Technological innovations growing rapidly
A working justice system
Fantastic roads and infrastructures
The list goes on and on.

Thus making the citizens and residents live a good life.
That is what the trillions take care of.

Emir Sanusi, you deserve your flowers on this one.

You spoke like a man who truly knows his onions and not a bootlicker but a patriotic Nigerian without any intent at currying for favours.

Tinubu is surrounded by people who are intentionally misleading him in order to feather their own nests.

They careless whether he (Tinubu) succeeds or not provided they keep smiling to the bank.

For over two years that subsidy on petrol was removed, it's been from one tale of woe to another.

One would have expected that the savings from subsidies would be channelled into areas that would improve the standard of living of the generality of Nigerians, instead, it's been all mindless borrowings like a man possessed.

Mr President should remember that at the end of the day, those egging him on to keep implementing anti-people economic policies would desert him.

Tinubu: it's still not too late to turn a new leaf!

Tinubu is borrowing more money than PDP presidents did, so he can buy votes as he does in Lagos State since 1999, to keep 20 million Lagosians in bondage of his lootocracy master plan.

Datsall!!

NaijaRoyalty:
…Says Buhari doesn’t have my kind of money

However, Buhari doesn’t have the kind of money I can steal neither does he have the money I can collect. He doesn’t even have the money for Lagos votes. So, whatever I promise, it’s for real and is coming from my pocket. It’s not until I go to Alausa before I get money to give you.”

Addressing APC supporters on the need to deliver votes, Tinubu said handsome cash rewards await those who can deliver votes for the party.

He said he would not make mistakes of the past where people would collect money in advance and not deliver on election day.

Tinubu added, “Those of you that say you come to Bourdillon for mobilisation, it is mobilisation that we are doing here or don’t you understand? Definitely, if you know people in your neighbourhood, our members, how we used to do.

This is the same thing I've said in other threads. This incessant borrowing after removing subsidy only means that we're making the loan givers rich.

It's better to have subsidy and borrow, than remove subsidy and continue borrowing.

Those who argued that it's better to give Nigerians the money than to IMF or others are right. If so, it means the subsidy removal is meaningless

Tinubu bootlickers should tell us if Chicago or any other American city fails to employ well paid civil servants to provide water to all households.

The Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services and Water Resources in Lagos State, Mahmood Adegbite, has said that people drilling borehole in the Lekki axis of the state is probably drinking ‘’shit water.”

While speaking at a stakeholders meeting in the state recently, Adegbite noted that contaminated boreholes in Lekki pose health risk and added that treatment of waste water would eradicate any form of disease that may arise from it.

He said, “On waste water treatment, I will say that everyone digging borehole within the Lekki axis is probably drinking what I will call ‘shit water.’

The government is borrowing because the alternatives are taxing every nigerian who is not currently taxed, higher taxes on the rich, bringing back toll gates on the roads, cutting the size of the civl service, cutting government costs, cutting national assembly costs, and also actually fighting corruption

You know, the above doesn't win elections. See how unpopular Millei of Argentina is thanks to his massive cuts (Matters are made worse for him in that he is trump's dear pal...).

Removing subsidy reduced the amount of money used for debt service. IT did not improve overall revenue, and infact, falling oil prices means that incoming revenue for this year is already lower than expected.

Throw in the fact that APC has not brought about the promised diversification of the economy....(which is a big reason for the insecurity in this awa country)...and you see the mess.

But Nigerians want to believe that we are rich, and all it just takes is a leader who will fight corruption...and we will have a lot of money. If our leaders had eliminated corruption in 2024, our budget would still be scanty for a nation our size.

Well, make we dey continue. Bad people generate and deserve leaders like tinubu.

If the master plan is working well on 20 million supposedly smart Lagosians for the past 26 years, then why change the formula for 200 million Nigerians?

The eyesore on Bourdillon Road
2nd January 2025

Beyond his neighbours, there is something about the sight of people hanging around a president’s residence that does not speak well of his leadership capabilities. Maybe no one has nudged him to see it, but the impression that spectacle on Bourdillon Road generates is that Tinubu enjoys the sight of suffering humans and thrives in—and through— their poverty.

If all these years, impoverished people hang around you and you remain comfortable enough to keep them just so they can be handed tokens of your large heart, then it means you have a pro-poverty mindset. Such a frame of mind is oriented toward cultivating poverty rather than stimulating abundance.

That is why he could unproblematically relate the story of his “friend” who went from using five Rolls Royce to a far-less valued car and not consider the import of the nonsense he was saying. That spurious account was an indication that this is a man for whom poverty—of others, not himself—is an ideal.

The Emir left politics but didn't leave politics.
Dumb me looked up the responsibilities of a Emir and learnt they are required to collaborate with politicians but quietly behind the scenes, according to AI. 😉

Stop comparing looting to USA-style social infrastructure. Let’s be clear:

1. In the USA, unemployment benefits exist for those actively looking for work but unable to find a job.
2. Citizens who cannot afford housing have Section 8 and other public accommodation support.
3. People who become disabled and cannot work receive disability benefits.
4. Social Security ensures that anyone who has worked until ~62 receives a basic income, regardless of private pensions.
5. Every child gets free schooling up to high school graduation.
6. Underserved children have access to healthcare if their parents cannot afford it.
7. Children from low-income families receive food vouchers to ensure they are fed.

Now look at Nigeria. We have mountains of debt, but what is it financing? Which of these fundamental social supports does Tinubu’s administration provide with all the money borrowed?

Debt in Nigeria is not building social safety nets, infrastructure for human capital, or sustainable welfare. Instead, it seems to prop up a bloated government, subsidies that barely reach the intended people, and a political class focused on optics rather than outcomes.

The question is blunt: why borrow so heavily when none of the systems that make a society humane, productive, and resilient are in place?

Debt without social investment is not development; it’s a trap, and we are all paying for it.
They told helinues that they pay monthly stipend to 15miliion poor households
