EXCLUSIVE: How Tinubu's Finance Minister Wale Edun Reportedly Collapsed After Seeing His Name On “Kill List” Of Alleged Coup Plotters

Fresh facts have emerged in the sudden illness of Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, who reportedly took ill suddenly on the eve of his scheduled trip to Washington, D.C., for the World Bank Fall Meetings.

According to multiple sources familiar with the development, Edun’s collapse was not due to a medical condition alone but allegedly linked to a shocking security revelation that left him terrified.

A top source told SaharaReporters: “Minister of Finance Edun collapsed when told he was number 4 on the kill list of alleged coup plotters.”

The source explained that the kill list” was allegedly drawn up by a group of military officers accused of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration in what was described as a “violent takeover plan.”

The new revelation that led to the abrupt illness of the Minister of Finance of Nigeria, Wale Edun, who was suddenly ill on the eve of his trip to Washington, DC, was that he saw his name on the kill list,” one insider said.

The minister, after the government initially denying reports that he had been flown abroad for medical attention, was later sighted in London.

Edun collapsed upon being shown a kill list purportedly prepared by a group of military officers who reportedly were planning to overthrow President Tinubu’s regime in a violent manner.

"After initially denying that he was flown to London, Edun was sighted in London where he was walking wobbly to an Art Show as a proof of life,” the top insider said.

Two weeks ago, Wale Edun confirmed his travel to the United Kingdom for medical attention after an exclusive report by SaharaReporters stated that he had been flown abroad for urgent treatment following a serious illness.

The minister’s State of health had been described by a top government source as “very serious.”

SaharaReporters on Thursday reported that an officer of the Nigerian Navy, Lieutenant Commander B Abdullahi, was identified as one of the senior military officers detained by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) for allegedly planning a coup d’etat to overthrow President Bola Tinubu.

SaharaReporters had exclusively reported the arrest and subsequent detention of the senior military officers led by an Army Brigadier General for planning a coup on October 1st Independent Day celebrations.

While the Nigerian military in a statement claimed the detention of the officers was linked to "repeated failure in promotion examinations and perceived career stagnation", top sources had revealed that they were actually arrested over a coup plot.

A top source from the Nigerian military authorities told SaharaReporters on Thursday that a Naval officer and two Air Force personnel are among the detained officers, while the others are from the Nigerian Army.

The authoritative source identified the Navy personnel as Lt Commander B Abdullahi.

Meanwhile, SaharaReporters had reported how military operatives raided the Abuja residence of former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, in connection with the alleged coup plot currently under investigation by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).

Multiple security sources confirmed to SaharaReporters that the raid occurred at Sylva’s home in the Maitama area of Abuja.

According to insiders, a “special military team” carried out the operation after intelligence linked a “former South-South governor” to secret meetings allegedly held with some of the detained military officers.

Sylva in a release had confirmed the military raid on his Abuja residence, while distancing himself from the alleged coup.

Was there truly a coup plot, or are these merely Tinubu’s APC propaganda lies meant to distract Nigerians who have come to realize how unpopular the government he presides over has become?

If he is that much of a coward, he should resign just incase another plot is underway going by how the military operates. I never knew Tinubu can work this fast. He restructured the military in few days because of his personal safety but the safety of millions of Nigerians is none of his business and can take forever to fix.

You can see how people are doubting whether there was coup or just a hoax. Public trust on the government has collapsed. No other civilian government in Nigeria had it this bad.

Why do we fear death so much as a people?

If there’s one thing we shouldn’t fear, that thing is death because it is inevitable.

Believe Saharareporters at your own peril.
They were the ones who reported that Mr Wale Edun collapsed due to a stroke but we later saw Mr Wale at a gallery in UK walking with his two legs.

You are right. I shouldn't believe Saharareporters but they first reported the coup which you people called speculation only for Tinubu to start running helter skelter. Maybe his nightmares are pursuing him and not because of the coup. I'll rather believe saharareporters than believe those who were given laptops to defend rubbish. At least, there is evidence since the man who gave them the laptops publicly confessed to it.

Very disingenuous summation. Every sane individual knows that Nigeria is a country where some section feel that they are perpetual inheritors of political power while another section feel it's their God given portion to continue to be pampered and allowed to have their way. Whenever a leader emerges who doesn't belong to either of these 2 sections, they will do and say anything to destroy the administration of that person. That's exactly your case. Ahracoonlahi!!
