I always do find common sense to be inferior sense, as minimum effort is required for its acquisition, but some seem to value it for some reason.

This isn't the first time a medicine would have been used for many years and later in the future someone comes to admit it had side effects. We saw it with opioids when some people were chewing like Candy, Perdue pharmacy was churning it out in millions and claiming it wasn't that bad. They were getting govt approvals(FDA), lives were ruined, Until we landed in the middle of a crisis which wiped a generation of youths

If we cannot say why in 40yrs 1 in 2000 became 1 in 23, At that rate in another 20yrs will it be 1 in 3? And shouldn't people be worried? When they are rightly worried without a solution in sight, Anything that looks like hope they latch onto it

Dayo, public health is based on science, data and research. It can not be based on subjective opinions because you are going to cause public fear which leads to harm. Whatever, RFK's opinions were, they were not backed by facts/ data and that is why he backtracked. Science doesn't care about your opinion, he should know that.

You and I can hold subjective opinions about public health and spread them as we please but person's in RFK's position shouldn't because it can cause the entire public health system to collapse. He did not have the data nor conclusive research to make such statement about complicated Neurological disorder and Tylenol.

On replacing synthetic dyes with natural ingredients, he has my support because data and extensive peer reviewed research have shown a strong relationship between synthetic dyes and behaviors/ cognitive issues in children. There has been pressure to replace synthetic dyes with natural ingredients for a while now and I am glad he is trying to get it fixed. This example is different from the autism/ Tylenol example.

I've noticed westerners love their pills and medicines. Every small ailment, they pop pills. They pop sleeping pills instead of counting one to a thousand.
Lots of chemicals also in the foods. Preservatives, food colouring, soft drinks , processed foods, genetically modified foods have all sorts of chemicals. Add children toys, too much smog in the cities etc All these chemicals .from waking up to bedtime I believe contribute to more visits to doctors .

You are right about Americans and our addiction to medications (prescription/ OTC) and that is why many doctors are increasingly trying Non-Pharmacological approaches in managing some illnesses like early diabetes and HBP/ Hypertension. Doctors try to get patients to alter their lifestyles with exercise and healthy eating to see if things improve.

You also have to remember that Big Pharms are a huge part of our Capitalism and politics, it is a vicious cycle.

Typical of you to split hairs like your strike isn't even less worse than the riots that actually happened.

You must think we were all celebrating and partying when we striked in the 70s before you were born.

"Completely wrong" is an exaggeration because the interventions saved a lot of lives and those interventions along with new information/ research into that particular strain have now stabilized public health in terms of COVID-19. Hell, Trump benefitted from those interventions, despite publicly speaking against them.

You have to remember, the COVID-19 strain was novel, the world had never seen anything like that. However, there had been extensive research and data on other strains of the virus like SARS etc. Clinicians and researchers had to rely on findings from the closest strains to quickly develop vaccines that can immediately save lives while researchers worked on this new strain.

It is why you continue to fund research and not halt any funding because public health crisis can arise any minute. The US is constantly monitoring public health crisis around the world and try to be proactive in researching into them, just incase it becomes an issue here or a pandemic.
