Haaaa even you? Labeling football conversation as agenda? No naa. This is a new trend on this thread and for the sake of fruitful conversation, we must stop labeling every criticism as agenda driven.

I started this conversation but I didn't not critique Lookman on his playing abilities. Like kennysville opined, it's a criticism on decision making. Others have pivoted and are drawing comparisons between Lookman and Akor. That's fine too because it's a matter of opinion which we can either agree or disagree with. Surely you do not want us to have singular train of opinion.

A good number of players have contrasting form for Club and Country.

Osimhen deserves all the praise he gets because the man turns whenever and wherever.

Lookman has arguably performed better at Club level. His national team output has been decent but can be way better.

When lookman scores in our next two games that sees us through to the inter continental playoffs, many will change mouth again . This is what we call plastic fan behavior.
We have said he is having a terrible start to the season due to his club issues. Some have even discarded his heroics at the last AFCON and said he was no main player. My goodness.
Is this how short football fans memory are?
They even said we couldn't have scored 4 goals if he started against Benin . Mind you the last time we played Benin we scored 3 goals with lookman also scoring.
I know we will all be happy to qualify for the intercontinental playoffs but I hope lookman makes a statement that seals his naysayers mouth up

I challenge you to bring out Lookman selfish play with eagles, where Osimhen or any other players are free with advantages ito score with ease and Lookman refused to pass
If you have time, go and watch all our qualifiers. Better yet, read comments on this platform while those matches were going on. You will see people say stuff like "Lookman should have squared that ball" loads of times. This is not about agenda or doubting Lookman's capabilities.

I personally don't have any agenda as per the player. He is a good player no doubt, but we see when he tries to do too much with the ball. It's not even a comparison with Akor Adams. I have no specific preferences. Any player that will not play to the benefit of the team is what we are saying. Ultimately, the aim of soccer is putting the ball in the back of the net. Whatever happens elsewhere is not so important

And so the transition to attack is very vital. It is really frustrating to watch a goal bound move scuttled by a player just because he wanted to go solo. Please watch the games where he partnered with Victor Boniface and you will see just exactly what I mean. You will see Boniface's frustration. Yes, Boni wasn't lucky or maybe he did n't take his soccer seriously but all of these could lead to non committal attitude of Boniface in the team. It is that simple. Osimhen cannot be the only one scoring. The team needs to play together and for one another.

That's all!!!!

Are you blind or something? lol! I could count 3 good chances Osimhen missed against GB from this highlight alone. There were two not shown here. Moses Simon gave the ball to Osimhen in 2v1 and he kicked it against the keeper. Go watch the full match oga! I don't argue without evidence! If you want to counter bring facts not summary! Ciao!
You're just uncultured and childish, too bad you think it's a virtue.

😆Is it not amazing such a big miss would not be in a "summary"

Do well to also bring the other highlights with your claimed 2v1. While at it, I'd like you to either screenshot the 3rd chance from the highlights I dropped or drop the timestamp for all of us.

😆 I also noticed you have dodged the CIV game and not shown us the other "water"

All these talk about Lookman make una forget am, a player of such calibre will always be in our starting 11, except he's out of form totally.

When he does good things again una go change mouth, I know how Chuks was always being criticized until our last match.

Eric Chelle must stick to playing Chukwueze in a free role. Timely releasing the ball, dribbling in tight spaces and finding our stickers. I need more assist. Lookman and Moses should continue to drag left wing position amongst themselves. God bless Nigeia...grin grin grin grin

The way some people reason matters in this thread ehn. Sometimes I don't even bother to chime in because it's not worth it. The amount of strawmen and misinterpretations one encounters here sometimes is weakening. I go just siddon dey look.

Hate and criticism are not the same thing, but on Nairaland Super Eagles thread, they're interchangeable.

Hahaha I enjoy the banter on this sports forum . If you day Yankee you miss Nigerian energy. Let every person voice their opinions without any fear or concern. I stop day follow European soccer since 2018, and focus solely on Nigerian national teams. So long super eagles are winning, thats all that matters.

Nigeria qualifications to WC in tight situation not cuz of any player but NFF,my point is simple,do not blame any player for our situation but the system, yes a I said agenda cuz how could someone said Lookman don't deserve to be in eagles starting XI...yes different opinions but some opinions doesn't suit football analysis, imagine singled out a player as if he is the major problem of the team....oya tell me how Lookman fared during Afcon qualifications,if not for unavailability of VAR he scored two good goals but the same player is nonsense and funny his protracted transfer was not put into consideration.....mind you I will start XI that played Benin against Gabon and Lookman on the bench, starting Akor.

I remember after the last match against Benin, a lot of people on them is forum agreed that if Lookman was in that match, we would not have scored 4 goals...
It's very simple advise..Lookman needs to be less selfish..until then, some of us will want him to start from the be bench till he fully understands that a team's glory should be prioritised above individual glory. (Same with other players who are selfish).

Even when we do interview in our different professions, if they ask 'what are the qualities you possess"?, one of the most important answer is "being a good team player"

So giving the advice doesn't mean we hate him, we are fans who want the progress of the team.
Na only football dey entertain person for this country and we need to enjoy it.

We are just too unstable as a people. I know how, during Afcon, Osihmen was heavily criticized for not scoring despite all that he was doing. Thank God this coach is a bit stubborn, if not na so e go dey change players every match as our people dey see new players wey dey totori dem

Lookman plays hero football. This is same reason I didn't fancy Victor Moses, but unlike Lookman, Moses could single-handedly carry the team on his day. If Lookman doesn't want to learn to play team football, he should be kept on the bench. I want my forwards as selfless as Victor Osimhen.

anytime you watch super eagles highlights matches, you will know we have quality players and we play good football…wether under Jpes, under finidi under Eguavoen and Eric Chelle, i really dont know how we usually not come out of games as super beast…why we are not dispatching teams like how the north african guys do is still baffling me.
Our loss to Benin under finidi, we played good game but we lost, our loss to Rwanda in uyo same thing….maybe the Osimhen factor in match days ensures we win games even though its not a dominant scoreline…just watch those highlights and see how Simon,Chukwueze,Iwobi etc are all dazzling from left, right and centre…hardly will you see opponents threatening us that much

Ko ju bee lo O!!!! That is as simple as can be explained. Chukwueze also plays like that too. If that has changed remains to be seen. I am not swayed by his assist for Osimhen until he can replicate that in subsequent matches

You're right. Often times the emotion and adrenaline of watching it live blinds us. In hindsight you're like damn, these chances and good play were in that game!?

The problem is clinicality. Our boys don't know how to create/find space or lanes. Once we're in the box, those runs are usually missing. They're either huddled or scanty to create many options for a goal. This is evident in how we rarely (I could be wrong) score from rebounds.
