Wike and his men messing up the judiciary and judges. Supreme court had ruled b4 I don't see why this issue was taken to court in the first place. Why stopping a convention of an opposition party? |

Kastonkastroll:With PDP split down the line, there is no time the court will not intervene. That Supreme Court ruling in LP was ok, but in this PDP case, it cannot stand. The judiciary will have to come in before they start killing themselves. |

fergie001:1. Is it not too early? They have given Wike enough time to procure another judgement or take the matter to the court of appeal and have the ruling arrested. Wouldn't it have been better they got this judgement like two days or a day to the convention? 2. It is sad what our judiciary has become. They have allowed themselves to become a subject of mockery in public. Now everyone knows Wike's judge, Fubara's judge and now Makinde's judge. It's a huge shame on an instittution that should be above board in all ramifications |

Kukutente23:1. No matter the judgement he procures, Makinde will hold this one and proceed. None other can overthrow this, you know why? Jurisdiction, but I know he will try. This Court didn't delve into the Party's subject matter. Infact, the subject matter is different, it does only compel what has been planned to go on. |

Kukutente23:Ask yourself which one INEC will recognise? When Anyanwu was removed, INEC said we still recognise Anyanwu. Make it formal, hold an NWC or NEC meeting and formalise same. The charade that held at Wadata yesterday is akin to the Calabar Carnival months back. The only take home was that Basketmouth wasn't called to perform. As long as INEC is concerned, Damagum and Anyanwu are still in-charge. The 608th NWC meeting held showed that out of 19 NWC members of PDP, 14 were present and signed for the suspension of four officers for one month. This is an internal party matter. (All their signatures attached and they formed a quorum). The other four can be invited as guests to Ibadan. So the Party is not fractionalised. I have read Omotosho judgement, even INEC backed the Damagum-led NWC, surprisingly the Judge did what he is best known for. The whole meat of this matter now is: Does the Court have jurisdiction to pry into affairs that concerns Congresses, membership and leadership of political parties? If it does not comply with the law, It won't stand. The Judgement earlier at Abuja High Court said INEC should not recognize the outcome of the convention for not complying with party constitution and electoral law. If it is not recognized and supervised by INEC, then it is an act in futility since they did not appeal earlier judgement. Every action by the waring parties kept playing into Tinubu's favour. |

doncartel:Wike is long overdue for the lesson. The cantankerous Abuja land grabber needs to be cut down to size. anonimi:>> >>>> 2023: PDP and politics of healing Wike’s self-inflicted injury Then, the race began in earnest for three years now, reaching a frenzy with the works of the two PDP committees on zoning. The first was the Gov Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi committee on the zoning of the PDP party offices. The Ugwuanyi committee quickly told the world the committee’s assignment did not cover zoning the office of the president. Though this was true, the question is: why didn’t the Ugwuanyi committee zone the PDP chairmanship to the North without aligning it to the divide that would produce the PDP presidential flag-bearer? The second committee headed by Gov Samuel Ortom of Benue state was specifically on the zoning of the presidential ticket and, with the votes of the representatives of all the 17 Southern states without any exception, the Committee unanimously recommended throwing open the PDP presidential ticket, which the PDP NEC simply upheld. One thing irrefutably stands out – Wike shot himself in the leg. Here was a man who had an overarching influence on both committees but could not insist that the ticket be zoned South. Many had wondered why? The reason is also relatively in plain sight: the Southeast factor. As the clamour for zoning of the presidential ticket of the PDP to South reached its crescendo, many had pointed out the fact that though the PDP Constitution had prescribed zoning of the office of the president to be between North and South since the South-west and South-south had taken their turns in producing the president and the vice in this current dispensation in the persons of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, zoning this time around, should not just be to the South but the Southeast. Atiku Abubakar went a step further by offering to step down from the race if it would be agreed that the touted zoning to the South would mean micro-zoning to the Southeast. Wike and the rest could not take the Atiku challenge maybe because Atiku would likely back Peter Obi, who was his vice-presidential running mate in 2019 and an ally. The prospects of Peter Obi picking the ticket if PDP zoned South was so real compelling Wike to go for an open contest, believing he could pick it up ahead of Atiku, Tambuwal and Bala Mohammed, given his large war chest. https://www.thecable.ng/2023-pdp-and-politics-of-healing-wikes-self-inflicted-injury/amp ddippset: |

The convection that has already been put on hold by a court of the same competent jurisdiction, the only court that can over turned it is an appeal court. Any outcome of that convection remains null and void. |

fergie001:You can send a google drive link if possible I'm familiar with this judgement. But the courts including the Appeal Court ignored this longstanding principle of the SC. However, in the case of Zamfara and Rivers in 2018, the same SC delved into matters of congress and elections of delegates did it not? If it prevaricates, where does it have the moral rights to accuse the lower courts of contempt for its principles? |

Wike is a veteran in court matters. ...At the end of the day, PDP wont present any candidate in the coming elections. Side Note: Why are you guys against Nigeria on Nairaland by bringing all sorts of propaganda threads by IPON on Trump and invasion on the Front page even without verification of the authenticity? This is highly uncalled for, though I don't know the moderator responsible for this. |
