Trump have succeeded in alienating himself with his tariffs and now he is looking for countries to disrupt so that he can have unbalanced trade relations with them.

Re: Trump's Threat: China, EU, ECOWAS Express Solidarity With Nigeria by AlphaTaikun:
Pakute:
China and the European Union (EU) said yesterday they were solidly behind Nigeria in its efforts to wipe out terrorists, bandits and other criminals.

Also, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) pointed out that reports show that terrorist-related violence does not discriminate based on gender, religion, ethnicity or age.

No religious colouration to country’s insecurity - EU

EU Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security, Anouar El Anouni, who reacted to Trump’s threat, reaffirmed the bloc’s commitment to freedom of religion and belief, and to the protection of all communities.

“The EU expresses its solidarity with all the communities and families affected by the violence, including the recent large-scale attacks in the Southern belt of Nigeria and in the Northeast,’’ El Anouni added.

He assured that the European bloc has taken note of the statements made by the American administration concerning Nigeria.

El Anouni added: ‘’The EU reaffirms its commitment to freedom of religion and belief, and to the protection of all communities, especially to minorities, and we underline our commitment to the peaceful coexistence of the Nigerian population, beyond geographical, ethnic, political, or religious differences.

‘’We recognise the many factors behind the violence in Nigeria. Let us note that religion is only one of these factors, and only in certain instances.

“The European Union cooperates with the competent Nigerian authorities and implements multi-faceted support in Nigeria to prevent violence, to encourage the consolidation of peace and to assist the victims of violence and forced displacement.”

China Warns US Against Interference In Nigeria’s Affairs

In Beijing, China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Mao Ning, told reporters at a news conference that Beijing would not turn its back on a ‘’comprehensive strategic partner’’ like Nigeria, especially in its time of challenge.

“We oppose any country’s interference in other countries’ internal affairs under the pretext of religion and human rights. We oppose the wanton threat of sanctions and use of force,” Ning said.

“As a comprehensive strategic partner of Nigeria, China firmly supports the Nigerian government in leading its people to a development path that fits Nigeria’s national realities,” he added.

Trump’s genocide claim divisive, dangerous for region’s cohesion - ECOWAS

In a statement yesterday in Abuja, ECOWAS drew the attention of its partners and the international community to the growing level of violence that terrorist groups of different colouration have perpetrated in some countries in the West African region, including Nigeria.

It said it was important for all to note that perpetrators of violence target innocent civilians of all religious denominations, including Muslims, Christians, and adherents to other religions.

The regional bloc rejected ‘’false and dangerous claims’’ that seek to deepen insecurity in communities and weaken social cohesion in the region.

The statement reads in part: “Perpetrators of this violence target innocent civilians of all religious denominations, including Muslims, Christians, and adherents to other religions.

“As independent reports have confirmed over the years, terrorist-related violence does not discriminate based on gender, religion, ethnicity or age.

“ECOWAS calls on the United Nations and all partners to support member states in their fight against these groups and to treat as false any claims that these terrorist groups target one group, or that there is a genocide of one religious group in the region.

ECOWAS calls on the whole world to stand by the countries in the region in their fight against terrorism that targets all communities.’’

As a man who has a deep knowledge of global geopolitical dynamics, I can say here and NOW that ONLY joint military operations between Nigeria and the United States with advanced attacked drones and U.S. Intel are needed here instead of a unilateral U.S. military attack WITHOUT the permission of President 'Bola Tinubu. The war on jihadi or Islamist terror groups and foreign Tuareg and Fula militia bandits operating in Nigeria and the West African Sahel countries MUST be a global effort contrary to the beliefs of some highly uninformed posters and commentators online and offline who think this is a Nigerian Goverment inneficiency.

The European Union, China, and ECOWAS have spoken very well here. I appreciate aspects of Donald Trump's concerns BUT he shouldn't have talked about Xtian genocide alone but he should have spoken for the Muslims as well. The United States too CANNOT be totally exonerated from the historical sharp rise of these insidious jihadi terror groups and foreign Fula militia bandits in the West African Sahel countries over the decades due to the removal of Muamar Gaddafi of Libya from power which destabilized Libya further including the Sahel countries of West Africa which led to a proliferation of heavy weapons and other small weapons and ammunition in the hands of non-state actors such as the Tuareg rebels of Mali and Niger Republic (who had worked as Gaddafi's body guards and security men) including foreign Fula militia bandits who now use small surveillance drones and relentlessly kidnap for ransom, murder, and as we speak, more than half of Mali and Burkina Faso including parts of Niger Republic are under the firm control of the JNIM jihadi group led by the Tuaregs of Mali who are affiliated with Al-Qaeda to take over countries West Africa for Islamization.

While it's TRUE that foreign Fula militia bandits have attacked indigenous people especially in the Middle Belt States of Nigeria (Southern Kaduna, Benue, Plateau, Taraba, Adamawa, parts of Niger State, parts of Kwara, parts of Kogi) where you have indigenous Xtian or indigenous religion adherents, the far Northern Nigeria States of the North West and North East of Nigeria too where you have a huge population of Muslims have ALSO lost many of their lives and lands even far more than the Middle Belt to these Fula bandits.

They have ALSO been attacked by BH, JNIM jihadi group from Mali, Mamuda, Lakurawa who are Tuaregs. So, you can ALL see that it's majorly foreignerscfrom the West African Sahel countries such as the Fulas and Tuaregs of JNIM from Mali Mamuda and Lakurawa that are fueling the Nigerian banditry and jihadi attacks through the non-existent borders between Nigeria and other countries. The Colonialists did NOT build walls separating one country they created from the other so the criminal gangs just cross illegally into Nigeria to cause havoc. Period.

So, this is beyond the Nigerian military who have really tried their BEST to eradicate these gangs. This MUST be a collaborative effort to deal holistically with the jihadis especially in Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger Republic and Nigeria. If you deal with the bandits and jihadis such as BH in the North East of Nigeria, WITHOUT building walls or physical barriers separating Nigeria from Chad, Cameroon, Niger Republic and Northern Benin Republic, and have effective biometrics and identification systems in place, more of these Fula militia bandits and jihadis will still find their way into Nigeria in an endless cycle.

The United States (and her allies) over the years are unfortunately historically responsible for providing training and funding in millions of USD to Osama Bin Laden and other jihadi groups in Afghanistan who were fighting the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan from the late 1970s till the 1980s during the Cold War era to checkmate USSR's global military influence. So, Trump should know BETTER not to point fingers at Nigeria or take unilateral actions WITHOUT military collaborations with Nigeria. The Malians, Niger Republic and Burkina Faso too have badly mismanaged their war on the JNIM jihadi group of Mali because they over relied on Russia which has been distracted by an ongoing war to deal with in Ukraine.

The Effort US has made is showing worldwide right?
Same US that created Terrorism? Hypocrites
obi4eze:
Is Nigeria actually making any effort to wipe out terrorism?

Is Tinubu making any effort to protect lives and property according to the oath he took as President?

What exactly has been done by the military to combat terrorism?

If these killings do not stop forthwith then America is more than welcome and free to intervene.

Other Africans should stay away from this issue if village politics wont allow them to stand on the side of truth. They should face their fledging countries and sort their mounting problems before dabbling into issues way above their pay grade.

This is not the first time we have been here. During the Biafra-Nigeria war of the 60s, the then OAU insisted that Nigeria was indivisible , basically providing the biggest diplomatic cover to the biggest genocide that ever happened in modern black Africa!

They paid dearly for that though as all of those despots were uprooted one after the other by internal forces that drew a lot of negative courage from the Nigerian crises. Let them stay in their lanes this time!

Christians in Nigeria 🇳🇬 need Donald Trump!
Don't whine me with all sorts of fake African and Nigerian nationalism rants..
When the terrorists come in the nights to kill and maim, I don't see you scaring them off while shouting "African unity" and "African territorial integrity"..
Ecowas has spoken. Almost all African countries will stand with Nigeria. Trump is not a particularly good leader. African people knows that the guy is a racist and bully calling a whole continent shit hole. Trump is on his own on this one. Even Britain is not with him

Game on!, International muscle flexing at its finest. China has rattled the US, by the time Putin also expresses his strong support for Nigeria, then followed by each members of BRICS, Trump will have something to chew about. Powerful countries knows how important, influential and powerful Nigeria's standing is among the international community. The world is not ready for any related war-torn crisis that Trump could be planning for the biggest black population ahd and the most powerful African nation in the world.

I consider Trump's threat as yet another of his failed rhetoric play book. This is a man that had boasted and threatened several countries but he was met with stronger resistance and so far he has folded.

He threatened to annex Canada as the 51st state of America but he failed,

He threatened to annex Greenland in Denmark, but he failed,

He threatened to take over Panama canal but failed,

He also threatened to convert the Gulf of Mexico into the Gulf of America but he failed.

He will also fail spectacularly on Nigeria issues.

God bless President Tinubu
God bless China,
God bless Russia,
God bless EU,
God bless ECOWAS,
God bless Nigeria.

-Kiss the truth!
See this one. They all also condemned helplessly when the US stood by Israel to wipe out Gaza, bomb Lebanon, clear out all Iranian generals, their nuclear sites, and strike right in the heart of Qatar. None of them could stop Israel because the US approved those strikes.

Na talk all of them go talk. When Trump starts going after terrorists and their sponsors on Nigerian soil, China and the others will jejely pull out their investments and people. You think the US listens to anybody. The issue of Canada was a mere joke made by Trump. That you mentioned it here shows how 'smart' you are.

The blood of the innocents soaking the land every day must be avenged one way or another. The brutal killings cannot go on endlessly. Nature will fight back. And this is exactly what is happening. Just watch.

EU coming to express solidarity at this point is needless. Where was the EU during the banditry, herdsmen killings, kidnappings, insurgency, Boko Haram and the rest.
EU should keep their solidarity please

Ok. Nigerians are behind their gofmet but how soon can insecurity end. How about scrapping sharia law thats often used as reason for blasphemy killings?
Personally I agree more must be done. I am just not sure insecurity can "end'. Fighting insecurity, majorly driven by Fulanis, is complex because of so much much overt and covert backing these killers get from very powerful Northerners who are political, business, cultural and religious leaders.

Those Northern leaders actually play a big role recruiting young, illiterate and restive Northerners into terrorist and bandit groups.

They must be stoped but the reality is much harder because the sort of very big men involved, and their large numbers, means a Southern President cannot take all those folks down without serious repercussion for Nigeria.

Still, Tinubu now has better leverage to act, because of being called out by Trump, and seek formal engagement with USA and the EU to prosecute a more robust battle against insecurity.

I think that will happen 100% and Tinubu should focus on lobbying the US, EU, Saudi Arabia etal to impose sanctions, travel bans and serious restrictions on the business interest of these sponsors of terror as a good start to fighting terrorism and banditry.

The insecurity the North has brought to Nigeria is so complex, I feel it's cause and sponsored proliferation is beyond the grasp of most ordinary Nigerian who simply do not appreciate how deeply entrenched it is and the stupendous number of "pillar" of Nigerian society involved in it.

If I am to speak candidly, even as I know things can improve with more effort, I will still conclude the North is hopelessly fcked. Meaning the rest of us should just focus on agitating uncompromisingly for regional autonomy so that we can protect ourselves.

I see that as the options for a problem that now involves the complicity of many, many millions of Northerners and is becoming a culture for them.

Insecurity would not be so bad in the North if it is something many, from leaders to followers, are vehemently against.

Terrorism and banditry, for example, can never be a mainstay in the SW because they are not what the leaders and followers of the region, both religiously tolerant and with fair degree of respect for the sanction of human life, will ever subscribe to.

If Southerners reflects on issues they will see the redundancy in insulting Tinubu alone over this complex issue Northerners brought upon themselves and the only ones capable of ending.

Outsiders cannot liberate Northerners happy to be enslaved by terror and banditry under their fellow Northerners. Even the whole culture of toxic and radicalising clerics in every corner of the North, that Northern Governors should clamp down on mercilessly, is a problem.

One told his congregation that Remi Tinubu is leader of "infidel Christians' and should be killed. We all dismissed it as empty rants without realising thousands of his ilk passing the same message to millions of young, illiterate opportunity-bereft and hungry Northerners is a huge a problem.

Terrorism and banditry in the North are very, very complex, deeply entrenched, well-sponsored and well-supported problems. May God save Nigeria.

Solidarity without sending their military is just diplomatic rhetorics. Does China or EU have any military bases around the world? If Trump decides to strike in Nigeria, no country can stop him. Is it EU that needs Trump to keep Putin at bay or China that's grappling with tariffs?

Which China? The one that is supporting terrorists in the north to gain access to illegal mining sites in Nigeria? Nigerian Senator Adams Oshiomhole once accused China of stealing Nigeria’s resources, arming bandits and terrorist groups to protect their illegal mining sites.

Nigerian leaders do not have world support, they only have the support of the countries they are trying to lobby to help them clean up their mess, whom they are going to exchange something for.

Nigeria is a sovereign nation. The same sovereign nation has a constitution that says Nigeria is a secular state, but Sharia law has been forcefully implemented in the northern Nigeria against the secularity of Nigeria to create enabling environment for Islamic terrorists in and outside Nigeria to grow. The end result would always be to kilI those who oppose their jihadist ideology towards establishing their caliphate in Nigeria.

Without this move by Trump, Nigeria would soon become the terrorists headquarters of the world, where all terrorists organizations would have their bases.

Every peace loving Nigeria, moslem, christian, traditional worshiper should support any country that want to help us stop terrorism in Nigeria since the Nigeria government has failed us.

How is Trump protecting his fellow citizens especially minorities in his country?

quote author=ShenTeh post=137365531]Trump's demand was that Nigeria should protect her own citizens and take care of the terrorism business that has turned us to a 'disgraced country', else the US will take care of business.

Why is the Nigerian government and seeming friends not assuring the US and the world that we are capable of dismantling terrorism? Instead, we are whipping up emotions up and down.

I don't think that the average Nigerian denies that the insecurity and wanton killings by the numerous Islamic terrorist groups are real, and we don't care who helps to stop it since the Nigerian government is lackadaisical about it.[/quote]

With all due respect, you are not a Christian. If you were, you would understand the background to the reason for the commission of the church's survival status amongst Islamic extremist from the 1st century.
casualobserver:
With due respect, I am a Christian. Muslims have their issues especially the extremists amongst them. But the biggest human massacres on record in numbers of victims and in frequency of incidents were commited by Christians and/or the church or in the name of Christianity.

As far as the US and Islamic terrorism, they are the biggest enablers of Islamic terrorism. Every Islamic terrorist organization has some history of US funding or support. Every single one. From Taliban, to Osama/alqadea to ISIS, Bono Haram, ISWAP, name it, they were aided DIRECTLY by the US for some ulterior motive or to fight a proxy war on their behalf. It’s what they do! They don’t like troops on the ground, so if they don’t like a regime they fund the enemy of that regime whether Islamic terrorist or freedom fighters.
